My dad is here on Hospice care with no way to walk or feed himself and is being well cared for by everyone. The staff from the front desk to nursing to the social workers and business office folks are above and beyond. Their guidance and empathy are so appreciated. With so many nursing homes challenged to find good people the team at New Hope is a blessing. read more

My brother had knee replacement. He needed to rehab before being able to walk stairs to his home. This facility is falling apart. His room, original bed was broken, ceiling was caving, peeled paint on walls, AC duct had blue painters tape all across it. His prescription of pain meds was supposed to be administered every 4 hrs with food. They did not feed him & did not know he hadn't been fed - and he had to call for meds every time. We were told they didn't have the capability of scheduled meds. What? NO supervision was given for him getting out of bed. NO shower in room. NO Physical therapy. Equipment ( Blood pressure & Pulse) did not work, he had to take it for them on his watch. The "staff" other than front desk and head nurse spoke very little English. We got him out of there as soon as possible. NOT a safe place. read more

If your family member being put into New Hope Manor can feed themself, walk or get around on their own, and have full cognitive abilities, then New Hope Manor is a good place for them. Regrettably my mother couldn't feed herself, walk, and was having cognitive issues. She also had nephrostomy tubes & bags attached to her back where they entered her kidneys. My mom ended up loosing 10-15 lbs & ended up being put back into the hospital with infected nephrostomy tubes, a kidney infection, severely dehydrated, and her cognition went downhill even more. This was after less than a month stay at New Hope Manor! My mom was admitted to New Hope Manor for rehabilitation after a week stay in the hospital. It was hoped they could help her regain her strength so she could walk with her walker again and go back to living in her assisted living community. Instead, she was re-admitted to the hospital in worse shape than when she was admitted to New Hope Manor for rehabilitation!! New Hope Manor doesn't have enough nurses to individually watch over patients who are considered "high maintenance". The food was horrible and no fresh vegetables or fruits, which is what my mom was use to eating. The only thing my mom would eat was the stewed tomatoes. She didn't like the meat or other food. They offered her Kool- Aid but not enough water. She was a diabetic and needed better, healthier food choices. My mom ended up in the hospital for 7 weeks after her stay at New Hope Manor and past away. Do not use this facility if your love one is in need of individual care! read more

I was extremely worried when my Mom had to be admitted to a rehabilitation facility for an injury. She has Parkinson's and her diet makes a huge impact on her day to day life. This facility has been amazing in accommodating her super strict anti inflammatory diet. I have been so impressed with how they have gone above and beyond to meet her nutritional needs within the constraints of her food restrictions. Its also so comforting to know she has around the clock care until she gets back on her feet. I have a feeling she will come out if this facility in better shape than before her injury! read more

My mom has been at New Hope Manor for a little over two weeks now. She is doing some rehab but her condition is such that she can't do much. She needs help with pretty much everything. Every single person I've dealt with here has been helpful, kind and positive. The facility and her room are extremely clean. The room itself is very plain. But we've brought in a bigger tv and will add some other items over time. And what the rooms lack they make up for with the people. It is set up for double occupancy but so far it's just my mom. Hoping it stays that way as it would be crowded with two residents. Highly recommend for the caring people who work here read more

Horrible, Horrible place!!! Never take anyone there even for respite care! My 95 year old Mom and I were thrown out because I was complaining about the lazy receptionist that wouldn't help me open the doors with the wheel chair in hand (she looked really bothered when asked for help), the RN that would have administered incorrect medication and the administrative clerk that was behaving like a middle school "mean" girl, rolling her eyes when I was extremely upset about the absurdity of their understanding of my mom's medication. It was a blessing in disguise to have been asked to leave! My mom nor I will never step foot in there again. PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES THERE! read more

My grandmother has been living at New Hope Manor for years. She will turn 100 years old in October 2018. Her family is very grateful to all the staff at New Hope. Oma is well taken care of and the family is well informed about her care. Sad to hear that Judy Market is leaving the office manager position. She has been a blessing all these years. I put my father here to recover after surgery and it was terrible. I cried having to leave him. Wish he had stayed in the hospital. It's super hot, some of the staff are not nice, and others seem to put on a show if you are watching. There was no orientation to get the family or patient introduced to the routine, no tour or even shown were the bathroom was located. My Dad can't walk right now so he needs to know where the bathroom is located. Horrible experience and I'm ashamed I have to leave him here. I just hope he can recover quickly so he can be out of there. read more

My mom was here after leaving the hospital for flu/pneumonia to help her with her walking and provided care for her since she wasn't even able to get in and out of bed alone. It not the happiest place in the world since so many residents are near the end of their life but I never saw anything that was a cause for concern. I researched care places and we picked this one since it was the closest to her house but still it was clean and at no time was there any bad (urine type) smells or any problems. I did see at times they were a bit understaffed and could have used more care but for the most part it was ok. My mom made a lot of friends there and to this day she still gets on facebook and looks at the pictures for all the memories. They do a lot of daily activities for the residents including singing and movies and parties. My mom complained about the food saying sometimes it was not the best but it looked pretty good to me. I noticed some people are fed different things so it helps to ask about that and if you have any special requests, make that known. it's important that family and friends come to visit on regular occasions to let the staff know that you will be checking in on them. The rooms are very plain and I notice many residents customized their rooms, adding carpet rugs, and special large TV's and Lazy Boy type chairs. No room had a phone unless you want to pay to have it installed but there is WiFi throughout the building if your phone can do that and if needed, there is a cordless phone at the nursing station if you need to make a call or get a message to a patient. The building it set up where the nurses station is in the middle and there are about 6 wings of patient rooms. Rooms have a toilet and sink but the shower is down the hall since patients usually need assistance with this. They want residents to "dress" for dinner so no robes or sleep wear, but nothing fancy. You can pay extra to have your hair done as they told me a lot of the ladies like to do (beauty parlour). most all residents move about in wheel chairs or walkers so there is always someone is every hall. Sadly, some choose to just walk the halls a lot and i feel like they always looked so lonely like caged animals but that's part of getting old I guess. Residents are free to roam about the building and there are lots of common areas to gather and just read a book or visit with others. Some rooms were double occupancy which I assume it affects how much you pay. I even saw that those rooms might even have 2 televisions. Just communicate with them about what you'd like and what you need and especially about food. read more

My father was a resident at New Hope Manor for a little over a year. From day one we felt welcomed and cared for. My dad soon began calling New Hope Manor "home." This alone was a huge testament to the level of comfort he felt in such a short time. I'd especially like to recognize, Perla and Maria, two of the most genuine, caring, hard-working, compassionate people I have ever encountered--they are the best of the best! Kay, the social worker, went above and beyond many times for my dad and our family. Lily, the director of nursing, is on top of her staff and is very professional. April, the activities director, is great, loves her job, and loves the residents. My dad always looked sharp--hair, beard, etc.--Lori and the in-house salon is top-notch. The cleaning staff kept the facility looking and smelling great. My dad had no complaints on the food--he loved it and they were always generous with whatever he wanted. Joe and his maintenance staff were always kind and helpful. Overall, we are very pleased with our experience, and would highly recommend New Hope Manor. read more

Mom has only been there for a little over a month, but she has improved so much and started to thrive in this short amount of time! She has gained 8 lbs from the good food and care. She is so happy every time one of us goes to see her. At her other facility, she had started crying and begging us not to leave her. Now when we tell her we have to go, she smiles and waves goodbye! New Hope Manor is one of the worst skilled nursing facilities I have ever seen. I had my dad go there after a hospital visit from fall thinking they would get him walking again. Instead their lack of care, unskilled staff and non-caring attitude created the perfect scenario for my dad to decline further. Thankfully I had a great caregiver that sat with him daily to make sure he was getting the care he was supposed to get. It was supposed to be a rehab visit, but instead they did very little rehab, lost his dentures so he didn't want to eat and refused to let him keep his normal sleep schedule. I wish I had never placed him there and had brought him home directly from the hospital. He might have at least recovered at home. I would only use this facility if there is no hope for your loved one. read more

New Hope Manor has been my mother's home for the past two years. They are clean, friendly, attentive and do a great job at managing her care. EMS drivers told me it's the best nursing home in the Austin/Waco area - well staffed, clean and residents are well cared for. read more
