My husband and I've been here a couple of times and this last time was terrible. The flavor and…read morequality of their brisket, sausage and sides were just okay. The brisket, which I always order moist inside is the juicier cut that's definitely not on the lean side. It was typical brisket you could get anywhere with no flavor and firmness to the meat. In comparison to Rudy's, I'd have to say is so much better and would be willing to pay per weight for my brisket. It has flavor and the quality and consistency is always on point. The sides were terrible, the broccoli rice casserole was overcooked and mushy. The green beans had been sitting in the pot too long with no flavor. The bbq wasn't anything special. I realize that prices are inflated with this economy right now, but it definitely wasn't worth $80. If you're not a big fan of BBQ you won't be missing out. We won't be returning if we have a hankering for BBQ.

And the awards on their wall were all from days gone by. Enter 2026. 7 years since their last award. And I was not impressed. I was going to get their prime brisket burger until I discovered it's actually just a burger and not sliced brisket. I asked what smashed meant and the cashier said she thinks they smash the whole burger and I asked is that the bun too and she said she didn't know. So I Decided to get their pulled pork sandwich because I figured that was pretty standard and safe and it'd be hard to mess up. I asked which side I could get since it comes with a side and she said any. I chose onion rings. Well apparently there's an undisclosed upcharge for that one. There's also an undisclosed upcharge for credit cards. A real pet peeve of mine. I decided on the fried okra instead. And it, like the sandwich, was flavorless. Kinda reminded me of Covid. Just chewing cardboard. Dry and tasteless. The sauce really didn't help. I do like the decor inside. Very western. They even got a jackalope head mounted. But unfortunately it's not sufficient to make me ever want to return.

I ordered a few meats - and owner recommended that I go with a 2 meat plate to save money. So, I did. I ordered brisket and ribs. Both were soooooooo good. Many places claim to have awesome bbq, but in most cases, I leave feeling a bit let down. Not so with Texans Barbecue and Catering, Their food is the real deal. The brisket has an amazing flavor that gets even better with their delicious barbecue sauce. And those ribs...if you have dentures, you can devour these ribs without your teeth, haha. It literally falls off the bone. The staff are very friendly. They said hi to folks be name so I take it they have a lot of regulars. I have to figure out how to get up here more so I can be one of those regulars. I posted some pics of the place inside. It's small, quaint, but that aroma when you're walking up -- you know you'll be in for something magical. Absolutely love this place!

There is indoor seating with restrooms but it was nice outside so I opted to check that area out. There is plenty of outdoor covered seating, with a tea dispenser and fixings off to the side. The ice is in a Texas-style, wood-paneled ice box. There is also a nice wide hand wash sink and paper towels in this same area. The moist brisket was a thick mixed slice consisting of both moist and lean, maybe the cashier didn't hear me. They serve Goodstock by Nolan Ryan, which is his premium line that's either Prime or Angus, so I'm not sure which they buy here, maybe Angus. The German style sausage is a little peppery, but with paprika or cayenne, not black pepper. It was ok. The item I liked the least. It's a fine-grained sausage and smooth and just tastes generic or store bought. The cajun potato salad was interesting and good..not great. They do give you a massive amount for a single serving. It's a tad spicy due to the cayenne. The banana pudding is very interesting and definitely homemade. It has a caramel swirl and broken chocolate pieces sprinkled on the top. This was my favorite part of the meal, but it's also very sweet. The owner let me know that they smoke the bananas and the sea salt which goes on top. The background music is good here...classic country so you definitely have that Texas vibe. Last of all, I didn't really like their iced tea here. Not sure what it is. The homemade bbq sauce is passable but goes well with their meats. Next time, I definitely need to try their homemade boudain, the ribs, and the Mac and cheese.
