As I drove up, I was really excited about this spot. I found parking on the street about a block away. It was shortly after 11 on a Friday morning. I took some time reviewing the menu at the window. I ordered a French Connection and a Midtown. Both were really good. Of course, I appreciated the Vienna Beef dogs and the poppy seed buns. I wanted more seagull special sauce on the Midtown but the French Connection was really excellent. I ended up sitting outside to enjoy my meal. I enjoyed watching the steady stream of customers. I can tell that this is a spot that the community loves and supports and I can see why. I'd definitely return if I'm in the area to try the smashburgers and one of the other hot dog variations. Keep up the good work Salty Seagull!

NOTE TO SELF AND EVERYONE ELSE: Stay away from Jersey Mike's Subs. At least stay away from their "Cheese-Steaks". THEY SUCK. I just ordered a "regular" Cheese-steak ($10.75) that was SO bad that you'd be taken outside and shot if you tried to serve it in Philly. It was a crime against nature and man. The attached photo should tell you everything you need to know about just how bad their efforts are. IT WAS CRAP.. and I will *never* patronize their shop again. Second note: Their people are nice. They are polite and kind and decent. They are trying. They just don't know how to make a sandwich.. or they are told NOT to make quality, because that would cost...*gasp*... money. SO... do yourself a favor. Find a locally owned, family run sandwich shop and go there instead. Stay away from this corporatized crap.

We've lost too many old-school, no frills spots with great food, to aesthetic places with mid food. I would prefer a place with great food that isn't the prettiest, over the heavily designed newer spots that have food that makes you wish you came to a place like Super Sub instead. Always very friendly staff, great old school subs, no wonder they won best of 2026, best sandwich. And many awards years prior!
