    The Coney

Stopped on a whim because we needed a little something to hold us over after having a late lunch. When we saw this cute little corner permanent stand with an eye catching sign that reminded of something I would have seen on the Jersey boardwalk. I love a good hot dog-especially a chili dog with raw onions and mustard, my personal fave! So the Coney dog was right up my alley with a tangy chili on a poppy seed hot dog bun. My husband got the Beverly hotdog combo meal which is a customization to your liking with choice of French fries or sweet potato fries. He chose caramelized onions and mustard on his dog. Pickles on the side, and fries. I liked that this is like the hot dog stands of my past in NJ. Food was delivered to our outside picnic style table but if we opted to stay in our car, they would have delivered it there as well. The server took our order on a hand held device as we waited in line which was cool because we got to ask her questions without feeling like we were holding up the line. Loved my dog and my husband loved his burger!

Ordered 6 burgers, 3 dogs, and 2 kinds of fries. Done in 20 minutes, packaged perfectly for travel, amazingly delicious.,Highly recommend the double Otto and the Dip! Fries were crispy. Garlic buns are phenomenal (also the poppy hot dog roll) Staff are friendly and got the large order right... about $70 for all that! We'll keep coming back!

Restaurant Week, as per the Salem Chamber of Commerce's website, is summed up as: "Participating restaurants offered special two- and three-course prix-fixe menus, giving locals and visitors alike a chance to explore, support, and celebrate Salem's vibrant dining scene." For $45 I got cheddar jalapeño fritters, a poutine burger (hamburger with fries cheese and gravy on top, kale Caesar salad with freshly grated cheese, and fresh, piping hot apple cider donuts. The burger was hearty, the fritters popped, and the donuts hit the spot but by far the standout was the kale caesar salad with the creamy dressing over crispy and crunchy kale topped with the tangy grated cheese. A Downeast cider washed it all down and was refreshing. I went on a weekday so there were a few people sitting at the bar with me but overall the place wasn't packed. What I really appreciated was the general manager came to talk to me specifically about their Restaurant Week food selection and to get my feedback. She was super friendly and I told her about the kale caesar salad. Parking is on the street and can be hit or miss because The Babe is right on Washington Street where it starts to curve around the corner. It's worth it to keep circling though. The Babe has different events each night of the week, including Jazz Tuesdays and karaoke Fridays. I had a great time at The Babe and I appreciate how much they support the local Salem community. I am looking forward to going back!

When you walk in, the decor is such that you feel like you entered someone's dining room. I even remarked to the waiter how much I loved the wood table I was sitting at. Everyone was dressed casual and seemed to be having a good time. There is a big bar that is separate from the dining room with a lot of televisions tuned into sports. If you are into that, this is a great place for sports night. Anyway, the menu has individual and family size pizzas, oversized sandwiches, salads and entrees. The kids menu is good too. I ordered a sandwich with mozzarella sticks, french fries, chicken fingers, w marinara sauce. It was an open face monstrosity and I loved it because I could take half of it home with me. My son ordered the kids menu hamburger. The waiter explained that this sandwich did not have lettuce and tomatoes, which I thought was nice of him to let us know. Since I was penny pinching, I said that was alright. The portion size on his plate was more than enough for a growing pre-teen. I ate the first half of my sandwich happily and it was more than enough. My friend ordered a salad with buffalo chicken fingers and a drink from the bar and she was so happy with her selection. Bonus: *Sports TVs had tennis, basketball, football, sport news and even a WNBA game on. Normally, you are stuck on one sport. *They have a lot of employees. They are employing a lot of people so service is fast and helpful. Support a Beverly business that is supporting Beverly people. I would recommend this spot as a great relax and chill place. Everyone was very nice and I enjoyed my night as a newbie very much.
