When I first called, Ryan was upfront and honest about their scheduling timeline and let me know they were typically booked about a week and a half out. I didn't schedule immediately because I wanted to compare quotes from other shops, but after calling around I decided to call them back a couple days later. Ryan confirmed the same availability window and unfortunately their next opening was the day after our road trip was supposed to begin. I thanked him anyway and figured we were out of luck. Then, about 5-10 minutes later, Ryan called me back personally and said he had reached out to some of his morning appointments for the next day and was able to fit me in if I could do an early drop-off. That kind of effort is rare. He didn't have to do that, but he went out of his way to help us out knowing we had an important trip coming up. They completed the much-needed work on the vehicle and took a stressful situation completely off our plate. That small gesture earned them a new loyal customer. Honest communication, real customer care, and willingness to go the extra mile still matter, and Ryan absolutely delivered on all three.

Unfortunately my oil pressure sensor AND oil gasket were massively leaking oil in my 2016 Audi Q3, and I was fearing for the worst when I brought my car in (I called several different repair shops in the area, and Foothill offered to see me immediately, at least to diagnose the problems). I was initially quoted for repairs & replacement at over $1k, but the shop was able to bring that estimate down by a couple hundred dollars. This is HUGE for my family at this time as we deal with my sister's illness and as I transport her children. This staff was honest, careful, thorough, empathetic and completely kind. I genuinely enjoyed speaking with every single person here and I am so grateful for the work they were able to do. Love their shop and their cute dog too! Not sure what went wrong to make my 2nd visit turn out so bad?…read more My first visit at Nevada County Auto Repair for new front brakes went smooth and successful months prior... Brought in my 2013 Subaru Legacy for a P0171 code (lean bank 1). I own an automotive code reader, so I at least had a code before I dropped off car. Having some knowledge is better than nothing... I get a call a few days later saying they are still trying to figure out the problem, but have replaced front 02 sensor. At 5 days later, I am told they replaced the MAF sensor (without authorization). I would have authorized it, but it would be nice to know that was the actual problem, without guessing. I'm told at this point they will reset the computer, clearing code and hoping this fixes it... The day I pick up the car, I finally find out how much all of this is going to cost. I get charged almost $1,000 for an 02 sensor & MAF sensor. Bearing in mind both sensors on a Subaru are located at the front of the car, the MAF unscrews at top of engine bay in easy reach. I paid that bill calmly, and just wanted my car back, but.... I get out to the car to drive away, and see the "low gas" light on, and needle below the E mark on the gauge! I brought the car in with over a .25 of a tank. Not much, and I totally understand the mechanic needed to drive the vehicle around to make sure it ran ok after the work performed.... BUT I do not want to drive the car on E getting to the gas station to put more in, AND it's not good on the fuel pump to drive on "E"! I go back into the office, very politely explain the situation; and am told by both Todd & Kim(?) that there is nothing they can do, and NO we don't have a gas can to even give you a 1/2 gallon to get to the nearest gas station... At this point I thought I was on some kind of reality show and camera's were rolling to catch the look on my face, but this was real. Not believing all this, I left; hoping and praying I didn't stall going through busy intersections. Well, today I am right back at code P0171 with the same exact symptoms I had a month ago. I have no idea what other tests were performed, as the bill shows nothing of further diagnosis. Did they check all rubber vapor hoses? Was the PCV valve ok? Fuel pressure? Are the parts genuine OEM? I have no idea. I guess for $996.06 you don't get that info... Do this to help protect yourself: Watch Scotty Kilmer on YouTube and buy a code reader (at least get some idea of what's going on if you have to visit an automotive repair shop). Get everything in writing & ask for your old parts back (by law they have to give them to you).
