One of my best dining experiences. Was surprised with a dinner date here. I had never heard of this place before so I was glad he found it for us. This restaurant sits in an older Victorian style home. I wouldn't have known a restaurant was "hidden" in here if I was just walking by. Truly is a hidden gem. The interior is very quaint and intimate. I think I remember about 8 tables or so give or take. One gentleman was running the show in the front (host, server, bartender). He was exceptional! We ordered the : Catena Malbec Mushroom bruschetta Steamed clams Rack of lamb with sub spinach instead of heirloom grains Ribeye Bread pudding The mushroom bruschetta was absolutely divine. Both entrees were seasoned and cooked to perfection. I even enjoyed the horseradish. It tasted so fresh. All the food was amazing. Not one complaint. 10/10 would recommend this place. Perfect for a date night.

A hidden gem! Came on a Thursday evening with reservations and there was already a full house! Keep in mind that it's a restaurant establishment in an old Victorian home so it's already pretty small. The ambiance was very cozy and quaint and had an impressive wine collection at the front entrance. Everything we ordered was amazing and there was not a dish that we didn't enjoy. The clams were cooked in a buttery saucy garlic sauce that paired so well with the clams and absolutely amazing with bread. The mushroom bruschetta, if you are a fan of mushrooms, this dish is a must. The mushrooms were seasoned so good that we practically licked the plate clean. The ribeye, was sooo good. I may sound like a broken record at this point but it was so tasty and the right amount of flavor. The service itself was impeccable. There was one gentleman taking orders and servicing the whole establishment the entire time. He was amazing and made sure we were checked upon, waters were always filled and just made sure we were enjoying our night. Overall, it was an amazing experience with amazing food and I cannot wait to come back.

Double cut, dry rubbed, bone in premium pork chop with spiced creamer potatoes and Louisiana cane syrup. A bit dry and too sweet.

Very unassuming little restaurant that is tucked away on the first floor of what looks like a historical home. Neumanali shows well and acts almost like a large living/family room of someone's home. With an outdoor dining area and a bar, it's almost as if Neumanali can flip and switch and turn into a restaurant with a late night flair. My wife and I visited this place and we both enjoyed the restaurant. While it appears to be rather understaffed for Friday dinner service (only one person at the front of the house), it was done rather "ok". The solo front of house server/manager was tending to the tables, orders, serving, pretty much everything for the front of the house... so expect a wait. As we were greeted, we were offered any open table, really. Were seated and then provided with water and bread and menus, not immediately. Their starter bread was stale, but the balsamic vinegrette dressing with raw diced garlic deliciously complimented the stale sliced bread. Let's start with starters! My wife and I shared the Chopped salad with Radicchio... Neumanali was kind enough to split our order for us onto two plates. This salad ate more like a slaw, but it was delicious. Crunchy bits merged with soft subtle pieces and complimented with lightly seasoned textures and flavors made this piece a pleasant surprise. We both very much enjoyed this dish. We then moved onto Steam Clams and this dish was delicious. The wine reduction sauce made with small bits of chorizo in cream broth made this dish delicious. The clams were delightful with common hints of white wine but bits of savory chroizo surprise. Add the clams and sauce to the grilled crostini, this dish was delicious. My wife had their Pan seared Day Boat Scallops and I had the Double Cut Pork Chop. By the time we got to our main course, we were actually kind of full and very satisfied. The Scallops were done well. The brown butter and apple cider reduction was mixed in with the sweet potato puree and made the dish a bit too sweet. Not sure how it complimented the dish too well since I felt like the scallops may have benefited more with a savory compliment. However, the subtle sweetness complimented the subtle scallops. The Double Cut Pork Chop was a bit dry and too much on the sweet side. The spiced potatoes were good, but I would have preferred it more if it was on the savory side. The sweetness was a bit more than I had liked. I do think that pork are very difficult to do well (juicy) as they easily are cooked dry. This one was a bit dry. The draft beers available on the date we visited -- July 15, 2022, were both Elysian Space Dust IPAs (Hazy vs. non-Hazy). We'd come back. probably choose different main dishes, but this place is worth another visit.

Hubby had wanted to come back to Neumanali for dinner and I was all for it! I called to make a reservation as their OpenTable was closed, and the gentleman who assisted me was so kind. He told me to give him a moment so that he can take a look at their calendar and was able to provide me 2 times to choose from. We decided to take the 7:30 PM time slot and he advises the customers to call ahead if there are any changes to their reservation or if they need to cancel. On the day of our reservation, we arrived 15 mins early. I live close by and couldn't help but get there on time. The gentleman set up the table for us as we were waiting and brought us over after. I still haven't caught his name and I feel so bad because he is so attentive. I asked him for some recommendation on some sparkling wine and I forgot the name of it, but it was delicious! We ordered the Mushroom Bruschetta, the Filet Mignon and the Rib-Eye Steak, with Bread pudding for dessert. Everything was just so delicious and the gentleman was so attentive and kind. We will definitely be back!

Food and Wine was amazing! Ambience and overall atmosphere was great. We got there @ 5:29PM because our reservation was at 5:30. However, the front door was locked, so we thought maybe the entrance was in the back. When we entered into the restaurant our server was behind the bar doing something. I kindly asked if they were open. Our server seemed annoyed and stated "No, but you're already in here now?" So then asked "Well do you want us to wait outside?" After waiting a few minutes we were seated. My appetizer plate was dirty so I asked for another. Our server brought back a clean plate but it was chipped on the side. Then we ordered the clams which were delicious. But yet again I received another dirty plate and a dirty fork. At this point I was just frustrated and cleaned the plate and fork myself with water and a napkin. I watched the server cut bread with his bare hands which kind of grossed me out. The only request that I had when making the reservation. Was something to make my wife feel special because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. I figured maybe a "Happy Anniversary!" or here's a complimentary dessert.. something!? Especially after spending almost $200 on dinner. I still tipped our server. At the end of the night we just walked down the street and bought some desserts from somewhere else. Food and Wine overall was spectacular. Service was good but customer service was horrible. I don't mind spending money on a fancy dinner. But at least have clean utensils and plates.

** 3.5 - 4 stars ** for this visit. This is my 2nd time visiting with my first when they first opened about 15 years ago...back then I thought "this Hayward gem is ahead of the game with its creative menu of warm goat cheese salad, double-cut pork, beet salad, flourless chocolate cake etc and an extensive wine list!" Fast forward, the menu almost seems it hasn't changed (to me dated) with no offering of dinner specials but that could be due to limited hours and seating during these times. Still the food was delicious and nicely done though for me, the pork looked impressive but could've used some pink (and brining) as it was slightly over cooked and not juicy. The ambiance here is beautiful...located in a converted Victorian with about 3 tables outside in their relaxing garden...most people we're sitting indoors so the outdoor seating was nice and relaxing though it did get chilly by 8:30 so bring a jacket as no heat lamps. Neumanali's is definitely known for their wines as they had an extensive menu. Service was simple and if you want a leisure dinner eat outside as it ended up being about a 2.25 hour dinner for us. Not that we were forgotten but there is only 1 person working the inside and outside. Great place to host a private event or for a relaxing dinner. Private lot in the back with plenty of street parking and located near the HAyward BART station and City Hall. Average pp: $65 incl tax/tip - drinks, 2 appetizers, entree and dessert Note: Be patient with businesses as its due to changing times...I keep hearing places (vets, groomers, restaurants) can't find people to work or their staff moving, leaving the state. Sad

As my friend and his wife are expecting their first child, they decided to invite us to Neumanali for a nice dinner as she is due any moment now. We created a reservation on OpenTable for 8:30 pm. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly. For appetizers, we shared the Wild Mushroom's on Garlic Bruschetta and the Spicy Cajun Shrimp. Both came out very quickly and tasted amazing. Fresh and delicious. From a serving size perspective, both were plenty for a party of four. For my entrée, I ordered the Greek Chicken with the side of mash potatoes. The portion size was huge! It was very fresh and the sauce was amazing. The mash potatoes complimented the chicken. Everything tasted high quality and with high standards. If I learned anything from Kitchen Nightmares (Reality TV Show), it's that restaurants with overly large and complicated menus tend to have poor food. Neumanali has a very simple and straight forward menu. Eight appetizers and eleven menu items. Perfect. That's how you control quality and freshness while also providing reasonably fast service. There appeared to only be one waiter. I've seen complaints about that from other patrons on Yelp. I didn't have a single issue with that. In fact, I appreciated it. It allowed our party to enjoy our evening without constant barrages from staff. However, even though there was only one waiter, he was extremely efficient. The man knows his craft. My water was always refilled and he ensured that the wine was poured graciously and fairly amongst our group. His table manners, especially with the ladies, was appreciated. For it to be a weekend evening with one waiter, our service was top notch and fast by Fine Dining standards. The demographics of Hayward are changing in a more upward fashion. It's becoming a more expensive area to live in and is growing in population that is attracting higher income earners from the Bay Area. A fine dining restaurant, such as Neumanali, is poised to succeed now and in the future. Just keep up the quality service and food and we will be back!

First, plenty of street parking and they have their own parking lot in the back. My wife REALLY likes this place and shehas nothing but positive things to say about the food. This review will be more for my food and experience. Waiter is spot on. Polite and attentive. I can't ask for more. I order the rib eye and specifically asked for medium rare (how a steak should be eaten ). The steak came and the sides were delicious and the steak looked great! I cut into it and it was super dry. If you look at the photo, it's was more medium well. It was dry and taste rubbery. It was not good at all. I went to the waiter and thought he misheard me. He confirmed I said medium rare. The guy was awesome. He made it right. He took it back. He came back with a new plate and the steak was cooked perfect. Very very delicious. I would definitely come back with my wife.

Wow wow wow! This hidden gem in Hayward is incredible! In need of a date night, my wife and I had been dying to go here. With COVID restrictions being lifted and us both being vaccinated, we felt it was the perfect time to go. We were NOT disappointed. From the bottle of wine we ordered to our dessert, every single dish was amazing and delectable. Our appetizer was the spicy Cajun shrimp, which had enough spice with a hint of sweetness. The shrimp was tender and perfectly cooked. For our mains we ordered the grilled rack of lamb and pork chop. Each was cooked perfectly, they were seasoned incredibly well and we left our plates spotless. On to the cheesecake, it was the perfect end to a perfect meal. The most impressive thing, there was only one person waiting on a packed restaurant. I can't remember his name but it was impressive to watch him juggle every single order. We'll definitely be coming back here.

    Open for takeout?

Technically, no. I once went when they just opened in the very early evening and the guy made me a plate and asked me to wash and return the plate when I was done with it. So, it would not hurt to ask, but expect it not to happen.
