Interesting and creative vegetarian food. Each dish was unique and there was a good balance of light, refreshing dishes as well as heavier courses. Neue Taverne does an excellent job of selecting local ingredients that are in season, which is exactly what we need for a more sustainable world! We ordered the surprise menu with the wine pairing. The menu included 7 courses paired with 4 wines (2 whites, one red, one dessert). My favorite dish was the tomatoes with goat cheese, basil oil, pickled onions, coriander etc. My fiancés favorite was the mushroom course with brown butter flavors (not sure what was all in the dish because of a slight language barrier since we don't speak German). Portion-wise, we were extremely full at the end of the night, but it was well worth it because we ate every bite! The last savory course (a rye risotto with asparagus and truffle) was by far the heaviest course and definitely filled you up, so I'm glad this was served toward the end of the meal. The service was fantastic. We had a total of 4 people check in on us throughout the night and they did a great job pacing each dish so that we didn't feel rushed. The ambience was much more relaxed and unpretentious than we expected! Reading the Google reviews, I think there were quite a few people went here just for the Michelin star, who seemed disappointed that they did not receive an ultra-formal experience and that they only served vegetarian options. However, formality and meat-options are not requirements of a Michelin star! What we received here was excellent modern cooking, high quality ingredients, and very attentive service, which is exactly what we came for! read more
