This place is absolutely delicious, pricey but delicious... This is one of those really small, yet charming eateries that keep you wanting more course after course. There are about 4-5 tables or so and a single server that tends them all. The menu is essentially prix fixe and I had no clue what I was getting myself into. Once the food stared to arrive, literally everything was amazing! The soup was delicious, the fish was soft and buttery, the truffle ravioli was ridiculous and the octopus was fantastic! Overall, this is a very solid Swiss dining experience and I would recommend trying it out if in Zurich, but be sure to bring your wallet (roughly 110-150CHF per person) and make reservations. Best meal I've had in Zurich since I moved here over a year ago. Never thought a place like this could be found in Zurich. Pleasantly surprised. Wonderful hospitality! Caveat - if you're looking for a place for a quick dinner, this is not for you. This place is for people who want to enjoy a 3-4 hour meal, sipping wine, chatting and enjoying each dish one by one. Super cozy spot, probably can only seat around 18-20 max. Great spot for a nice date! They offer a 4-7 course menu (highly recommend getting the whole 7 course because every dish is a symphony). Great wine list and the owners have a lot of knowledge about wine so you can ask them for recommendations. Their menu changes according to the ingredients they have available, so when I went my favorites were the sea bass & artichoke ravioli with white truffles. Highly recommend this place. You'll spend ~200 CHF/person or more if you open a nice bottle of wine but totally worth it. Make sure you make reservations through their website beforehand. read more

This beautiful little restaurant is a special dinner place. Not formal, yet the food is of the upper level in dining gastronomy. My friends and I even wondered why it's not Michelin star rated. But maybe that's a good thing. It's a hidden gem within the old town and I had the great pleasure of enjoying a meal here to celebrate a work colleague. We were a party of 9, and since the restaurant is already quite small and cozy, we had the honor of a private dining space on the upper level. It was like dining at grandmama's house, but the food was so much better. The surroundings are that of an old family home with beautiful old China and antiques around the dining area. The kitchen is open to the dining room and you can't help but feel at home. Thankfully you don't have to help cook or clean. The menu is a set menu of 5,6 or 7 plates and changes daily. They can make some modifications in creative ways if there is a particular item on the set menu that might not suit your tastes. The wine selection is to die for and would meet any wine lovers palette. Some of my favorite dishes from the evening were a smooth, carrot ginger soup, the creamy beet risotto, the entree of tender venison, and the passion fruit Creme brûlée like nothing you've ever tasted before. I don't have much to add to the other 5-star reviews. I totally agree with all of them. Awesome experience at this quaint, family-owned restaurant. The chef must have fun coming up with all these creatively delicious dishes. We didn't make a reservation, and even though they plan out how much to prepare based on reservations, they were able to accommodate us. The owner / head chef came out to hang out with me and my husband with a glass of wine after dinner. We talked until about midnight. read more

Highly Recommended by my colleague who has visited this place many times and it did not disappoint. Right from the start we felt like the restaurant was only open for the five of us. The owner Yücel does an excellent job to make you feel welcome and right at home. This experience alone would make you want to continue to frequent this restaurant. However the wine and the multi-course dinner will make sure you visit as often as possible. The selection of wine is unbeatable and the quality of food products used unmatched. Its the 3 Michelin star experience without the hype, price or pretentious foodies who think they know better than the chef. The kitchen is also in the open and where we sat we had great interactive dialogue with our Chef. Overall the whole staff was very attentive and took great pride in their craft. I would highly recommend giving this place a visit if you are in the Zurich area. We stumbled upon this place as it was literally on the same street as our Airbnb. What luck! The multi-course meal and the intimate setting are tough to beat. Yes, the place is a bit expensive, but the attention to detail provided in each offering is well worth the price. If you are a serious food and wine enthusiast, save yourself before coming in. Simply put, one of the top restaurants that I've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. From calling for the reservation to the service and the decor, it was all fantastic! Granted, it's far from inexpensive but if you're in the mood to have a special treat, it's worth it. On the phone I was asked if I knew that it was a set menu and then asked if there were any special dietary requirements in our party. After verifying everything I was pleasantly told thank you and looking forward to seeing you. The space is quite small and fills up quickly. Reservations pretty much required. We were there on a weekday and it was full. The decor is cozy and quaint. It reminds me a bit of some of the mountain top huts. Something that I and my wife really enjoy so we felt pretty much at home. I believe that they are known for their wine cellar (something I didn't know) as they had the largest and most varied wine list I've ever seen. I believe it started around 100CHF and went beyond 10,000CHF per bottle. The meal is multiple courses and you along with your server pretty much set the pace. European restaurants don't tend to rush you in/out to turn multiple tables so you might as well take your time and enjoy it. Service was fantastic and as we sat next to the open kitchen we got the 'floor show' of watching the chef finish each dish on it's way to the customers. For us, it's definitely a place for very special occasions but I'm very glad that we went. It's the most expensive meal that I've ever paid for but I'll definitely go back. read more

I was attracted by the way the place looks like and I have to say it looks really nice. Unfortunately quality of service and food was not exactly the same as the feeling coming entering into the place. There is no menù and even if we asked only for the main dishes we received also an uneatable soup: the main issue is that there is a very poor selection of food. Prices are a mystery until the end of the dinner. Service was very very slow, no Amex accepted and price was too much for what we get. For that kind of place I would have expected to pay with credit card. Sorry but I would strongly recommend not to go there. Not at Swiss level a standards. read more

My wife and I had dinner here our first night in Zurich, couldn't have asked for anything more amazing! We went with our waiter's suggestion for the four course menu and he expertly paired both white and red wines. The food was ok. For the price, I was expecting more. It was a seven course meal but I was not blown away by the taste. The wine selection was good but extremely expensive. Our chosen wine was not available and we were offered as an alternative something 50% more expensive. For some reason, we were not offered the cheese course but were served desert right away. I solo'd a visit to this little restaurant while on vacation in the city. Called about five hours ahead of time on a Saturday afternoon, and they penciled me in for 8 pm. When I got there, every table was taken, so I did wonder how the logistics were going to work out there. The waiter offered me to choose one of two tables, both already inhabited patrons, and I ended up sitting with a charming Swiss couple and a fascinating (and delightfully Bond-villainish) teacher. They seemed to be having a very good time and welcomed me into their conversation. I was included into a six-course affair already going on at the table. I can't recall all of the courses at this time, but my lasting impressions were as follows: --At some point we got some form foie gras terrine, which was undoubtedly the best I have ever had. Oh, what godly, buttery goodness. It was firm and smooth, very subtle and delicate in flavor, and perfectly accompanied by some form of apricot preserves. Oh, Lord. --We got some sort of fish for our third-to-last course -- I didn't understand what it was, but if it sounds like halibut, tastes like halibut, and looks like halibut, it probably isn't salmon. --I was promised ribeye as the main course, but I think the server meant to say short ribs. They were braised to perfect tenderness and were flavorful enough that I wasn't upset not to have gotten ribeye. --Our dessert was passionfruit crema catalana. The passionfruit tartness was intense. I liked it a lot; the other three diners at my table absolutely raved about it. --Their wine selection is overwhelmingly large, and I went with the waiter's recommendations: some Chardonnay with the foie gras and fish, and some Cab/Merlot with the ribs. The Cab was utter, utter bliss. I lament not remembering what its name is. Our server was unintrusive, courteous, very respectful, and quite down-to-Earth. The whole meal set me back around 160 francs, including drinks, and I felt the whole experience more than justified it. I think having gone solo was a big part of it, too, as this seems to be a restaurant where people go to socialize and engage strangers in conversation about travels and all that, to the tune of delicious little plates, excellent wine, and welcoming service. Not just the best in Zurich, but one of the best anywhere...the Wystube Isebahnli has wonderful food and a tremendous wine list, with great service and the ambiance that makes for fine dining. We have enjoyed dozens of meals over a five year span, and every meal, every plate has been perfect. We actually plan our european trips to fly in/out of Zurich, so we can eat at Isebahnli as often as possible. This is a must for any food lover visiting Zurich...don't miss it! read more
