I called the office needing to see the optometrist ASAP. They gave me a same-day appointment for very uncomfortable symptoms of dry-eye irritation. I was seen by the optometrist Dr Zhou. He did a thorough eye exam, even checking my eye pressure but couldn't find any real reason for my condition & gave me steroidal lubricating eye drops & told me to lessen the time I spent looking at my computer & phone screens. The eye drops seemed to help but the irritation returned after finishing them. So I began using a gel eye lubricating drop with high ratings on Amazon. That did the trick as well as limiting my screen time. I would highly recommend the Nethery Eye Assoc & Dr Zhou. read more

Dr. Nethery is great too, my mother saw him for years and I saw him as well at first. I had to see Dr. Sears as Dr. Nethery was going to be out of town and I've just stayed with Dr. Sears. My retina ophthalmologist recommended Nethery for cataract surgery. Since my retina doc did such a good job, I took his recommendation... HUGE MISTAKE! What went well: 1) No complications from the lens replacement surgery. What went poorly: 1) Dr. Nethery has the worst bed-side manner of any doctor I have ever visited in my life, include visits in foreign countries. He is very rude and impatient. 2) I opted for the "premium" surgery. For a huge out-of-pocket upgrade, this gets you multi-focal lenses. I wish he had provided more feedback when I asked about the downsides, which are significant. (a) All bright lights create light rings, often referred to as halos. I've had lasik before and knew about halos. What I didn't know is that bright lights show off anywhere from 1 - approximately 15 rings. This makes night driving extremely difficult since the rings can make adjacent vehicles very difficult to notice - and it will never get better. (b) I paid for the premium, which should have included lasik touch-up. He wouldn't perform the follow up since I had lasik in the past - but no pricing offset was given. 3) Billing. Nearly every visit was incorrectly billed, making a lot of extra work for me to get corrected. 4) Prescriptions. After the surgery, I still had to have glasses. I expected this, but didn't expect to make 3 visits to get the prescription right. On the first try, the clerk wrote down the wrong prescription. That's ok - the doc signed off. Oh wait, but they were wrong - where is the Quality Control? On the 2nd visit they checked the prescription for the eye that was drastically wrong, but wrote a new prescription for both eyes, making the other eye prescription wrong. Afterwards I learned this is the same surgeon my mother went to - and she described similar issues. LOOK FOR OTHER OPTIONS! This is your eye-sight - cataract replacement surgery can NEVER be re-done! I will not ever set foot in this office ever ever again. Today, while I was on a business call, I had an incoming call that went to voice mail. As soon as I disconnected from my business call, I checked my voice mail and called Nethery Eye Associates. The young lady that answered the phone did not know anything about my call; so that ended that. A few minutes later, I get an email from Nethery telling me that I owed them 200.00. Now I was able to call back and was able to leave a message. The billing person that called me back was able to tell me that 'the best way to get someone to call back is to send them a bill'. I asked for a statement. There is none. She made up this crazy story that United Health Care had done some retroactive thing on my insurance and that UNH took 200.00 away from Nethery. At this time, I am sorting this out with United, but I can firmly say that I will never set foot in that office ever again. I guess the best way to get a bad Yelp review is to try to get a patient t o pay a bill with no statement or decent explanation. Update: 8-23-2019 After the verbal confrontation with 'Charlotte' the billing manager I called United Health. An AMAZING customer service rep named Kelly dug in and found the problem was an INCORRECT submittal of the claim. So Charlotte has to resubmit the claim that may or may not be paid because she was negligent. If the claim is refused for being submitted late, I am not liable for the charges. So let's see. With future eye appointments and possibly cataract surgery coming up in the next 18 months how much money did this place lose because of her lack of knowledge and lack of people skills? Update: 8-23-2019 Now, after speaking with United Health, this office manager continues to harass me. She thinks I am stupid, that I am not aware of the status of her mistake. So it looks like I will not be responding to her call that indicated she wanted to update me on my account status. SO she mailed me a bill to get me to respond. I am filing complains with the Texas Consumer Protection Bureau, the AG and will make a formal written complaint against Nethery with United. So much for 'the best way to get a response is to send a bill'. read more

I paid a visit to this worthless group of faux professionals yesterday. Two trips in one - my first and last. The following is what I learned based on the time I wasted after choosing them for eyecare. Yes, its written in a sarcastic tone but l promise not to embellish or exaggerate any part of my experience. What I learned from my visit with Nethery Eye Associates on September 6th, 2018 is this: At Nethery Eye Associates Bedford, one thing is obvious...patients are not considered "customers", thereby adhereing to, or considering certain practices as acceptable in their eyes (pun intended). - Before arrival, a patient must already have a clear understanding of the lingo/terminology used in optomology, regardless of whether the patient currently wears/or has never worn prescription glasses - Prior to seeing a doctor, the patient must be prepared to request the specific type of eye exam or tests they prefer, regardless of whether they understand the differences between various exams. This includes those who have never been to a doctor of opthamology. - Following the exam, the doctor may choose to reveal only one of his/her's findings before reaching for the door handle to leave. It is the patients responsibility to initiate any post exam discussion or ask questions. Otherwise, the patient must listen closely to what the doctor says to the note taker during the 30 second exam. Note: If the patient doesnt understand the lingo spoken by the doctor to the notetaker, s/he may need to interrupt and request an explanation. Otherwise the patient may never know his/her results. This must be done quickly and prior to the doctor finishing his or her dictation to the note taker. Otherwise, they will leave the room without any further explanation. In my case, the notetaker had her hand on the door handle as I was asking my FIRST question. -If the doctor hands something to the patient following the exam, its assumed the patient can read and understand what was handed to them. This is a great time for the doctor and notetaker to make their getaway . The patient may do one of two things: -A) Assume the paper has everything written on it that's important or is "need to know" and you'll figure it out later when you can see again. -B). Make a quick attempt to ask the doctor what was just handed to you (i.e., exam result, prescription, etc). Otherwise, the patient is left to guess what it is (eyes will be dilated and difficult to see). I haven't gotten to the worse part yet The lady that took me to the room asked "Do you want an eye exam"? Confused by the question, I asked "Isn't that the reason for my visit? So she proceeded with the eye test...just like the great Dr. Marling in Bedford would do. Later at checkout I inquired about the extra $45 charge....she said "that's because you requested a reflection exam". I said "no, I didnt ask for that and secondly, I dont even know what that is. So she proceeded to check with the lady that performed the test. Of course, said told the check out girl that I specifically asked for the exam. She then looked over at me and shook her head back and forth, silently saying the words "liar" directly at me. I then explained why I know for a fact I didn't ask for it and it is because I never even heard of it nor ever heard the term reflectory before. So basically it would be impossible for me to ask for it by name if I didn't even know the word or what it meant in the world of Ophthalmology.. At this point, the checkout girl didn't know what to do so she alerted the office manager. The office manager came out and basically told me it doesn't matter anyway because I signed the contract saying that it would be an additional $45 expense if the exam is requested. I was unable to convince this guy that I didn't request that particular exam even though I still didn't know what the exam was called or what it was for. Although it should have been quite obvious to them that I didn't request it because I had to ask at least three times to tell me the name of the exam and what it was for. To this day, I still haven't figured out what they were talking about. One thing they did make clear however...I was not to leave their office until I payed them the extra 45 dollars. I paid the money and wanted to leave because I could feel the anger welling up inside. The office manager wanted to continue arguing, when I said "stop...I will pay the money ... I need to leave now because I am starting to get angry". The office manager shouted his reply "Good!" I didn't even turn around to ask what he meant by that. It doesnt matter anyway. Maybe I was being a threat to their scam and that would explain the unprofessionalism displayed by the office staff. Within the hour after leaving the office I called and spoke to the office manager. I demanded a refund of the $45. He said he would have to discuss it with others and call me back. Its Jan 2019 and still haven' heard from them. read more

Had cataract surgery. Went very well. Surgery did not take very long & recovery time was 2 days. If you need any kind of eye care, I strongly recommend these doctors. I saw Dr. Ighani, but I'm sure the other doctors are as good as he is. My vision is now 20/20. I can see so much more!! The entire staff is friendly, courteous, & proffessional. read more
