I appreciate that there is absolutely no pressure to undergo any procedures you aren't comfortable with. The nurse was thorough and prepared me perfectly for my exam. My long-term optometrist, Dr. Shazia Karim, is excellent. She explains everything happening now and what to expect in the future, only recommending treatments or prescriptions when absolutely necessary. Afterward, Shaye in the frame department was incredibly helpful. I had selected 5 or 6 frames on the MyEyeDr website beforehand. Shaye tracked them down, checked their availability, and looked up the exact pricing for each one. This was by far my best visit, and I credit the MyEyeDr website for enabling me to do a little prep work myslef. Shopping for glasses is usually my least favorite chore, Shaye, along with some casual conversation made the entire process easy and pleasant. As an individual with complex eye care needs who has moved from out of state, this practice sounded…read moreperfect for my needs to continue care for already diagnosed conditions. The office manager told me that my only option to be seen was a package for $2000 that included services I do not need and lenses I already own. I asked if there was a separate package for transfer of care, she said that the doctor "might" call me back or she would ask and call me herself. As expected, I didn't hear from the doctor. Instead, the manager called me back and repeated that my options were to pay for the full package including a $500 scheduling deposit, or $600 to schedule an evaluation with no lenses included (which would be significantly more for less services and hardware). No matter how good the doctor may be, the approach to selling no matter the patients needs is clearly a scam.

I got set with doctor Maria Soto, when she came in she seemed a little stressed when I first met her. I was a little concerned something was wrong so was genuinely asking her if she was okay. She said she was fine and I dropped it, after that we seemed to be alright. I had questions about payments and she directed me to the front desk, the ladies there were really nice and we sparked up a decent conversation as well! When I came back to the examination room she said she was offended by me, I was confused by this since I never said anything or implied anything offensive. I asked her what she meant and she said how I asked how she was doing "pissed her off" I was genuinely shocked that me asking how she was doing had made her upset. When I was telling her I was just trying to be an accommodating client and trying to be helpful she said I was turning the tables against her and that she did not need any talking and to forget it. She said she would carry on with the exam, but at this point I had enough. We went into an argument about it in the lobby and in front of my mother, with her also being appalled by Maria Soto's reactions. We are not coming back here ever again and if you do get Soto, do not try talking with her or get personal with her. She gets easily offended and will make you regret trying to making small talk or asking even genuine questions.
