It appears, because it no longer occurs, that I was accidently hitting the laptop's mouse box when typing which was causing all the print I'd typed to be swiftly highlighted and deleted. It was a disaster but after having the laptop for several hours during one day, I was assured by their technicians that the laptop wasn't dysfunctional. This gave me peace of mind. The office was clean and the work areas organized and well maintained from my view at the front counter. The people there were helpful and respectful when communicating with me. I think the only area that I might suggest to improve in is better more timely communication. No one was rude or anything like this, I just think that no more than 2-3 hours should pass before the tech's should phone the customer just to keep them updated on the status of the work; even if they are still doing diagnostics. Other than that, my exposure with this company was minimal but I would return to them again if I needed to.

The four local auto service departments that I had contacted (that sold and maintained the brand of car that I owned) had all declined to do this task. Various on-line auto forums had stated that this could be a hard upgrade to achieve and many owners were frustrated. I had nowhere else to turn for help until CM Computers was recommended to me. Even though this item was 'outside-the-box' for his normal services, Chaucer undertook the task and was very successful at creating that necessary update onto the car's GPS!! I came here to attempt to recover pictures and documents from two hard drives from older computers that were freezing up. I was told that the first hard drive had the pictures on OneDrive and none were on the hard drive and was charged $29 for the diagnostic. I brought in a second hard drive from another computer to attempt a second recovery because I knew that the pictures were definitely stored on there and brought an external hard drive for the transfer. The owner stated that he wanted to charge me $399 for the hard drive repair and an additional $150 for the data transfer by text after a few days. I decided not to do the work and came in to pick up my internal and external hard drive. The owner seemed surprised of my decision and threw out a hypothetical question on what the pictures were worth. I was confused on why he would even ask me that question but just told him that they were not worth the estimate that he gave me. I asked him a question about the first hard drive and telling him that I was 100% sure that the pictures were on the computer and asked him to explain it to me again and to "talk to me like I am dumb with computers and not like I am an idiot". He looked puzzled with my statement but the whole experience was condescending from day one each time that I asked a question about my computers. He is very knowledgeable but will make you feel like an idiot for asking any question to try and understand the recovery process. Both internal hard drives and external hard drive were taken to a computer repair shop in Stockton and the owner was the true computer expert. He explained the repairs to me and made me feel appreciated as a customer. He stated to me that the second internal hard drive and external hard drive were toast and that the documents and pictures could not be retrieved. I understand that the internal hard drive could have been jacked up because I had CM Computers take the drive off the repair process before it finished but my external hard drive was not broken when I brought it in to him. Thank goodness that they were able to retrieve the documents and pictures that CM Computer said were not on the internal hard from the beginning. He was able to retrieve 100% of the 12 GB of data. If anybody is willing to drive to Stockton for computer repairs, I highly recommend it. They are top notch with knowledge and customer care was amazing. He also does remote work to save you that trip if it fits your needs. I will be coming back for future computer needs.

We hired a local firm that soon thereafter went out of business. Our second try, again with another local firm was a swing and miss. They claimed to have the ability to maintain our network, but, ultimately, it was just beyond their abilities. I was resigned to either hiring an in-house IT professional or going outside of Merced to solve our issues. It was at that point that I was introduced to Tom Leach at Mid Valley IT. I decided to give the local company a try. And I'm glad I did. Mid Valley IT handled our network with ease and efficiency. Any time we had an issue, they were a quick phone call away. Unlike one of the other firms we'd hired, their technicians stay with Mid Valley. So, we always had someone around who knew our network. I would get calls from time to time from other IT companies asking me to consider switching. Every time, the answer was, "Why would I do that? I've got Mid Valley IT!"
