Oh Buy Low, how do I rate thee? A supermarket that is…read moreneither super nor exciting, but oh so close to home. Buy Low is the place I go when I'm knee deep in a recipe but lacking that key ingredient. When I'm craving a fresh mango with no other place to go, you betcha, I Buy Low. This evening I found myself on a walk and thought why not? So in I went for a couple mangoes($1.50 each), some instant cocoa oatmeal($2), some chocolate and see salt Western family chocolate (@100g 2 for $3) and a can of chickpeas (4 for $5). Jolly good value all in all, far better than I'm used to here! It was almost closing time so the rush was on, but they handled it well. I will say that most of the time you'll find better deals elsewhere. I think Buy Low knows their consumers know that, and they're okay with it. No Frills is a ten minute walk away towards Cambie. Nesters across the street is pricier, sure, but probably doesn't have the variety of Buy Low. Hours you say? 8 to 9 everyday. For my one visit to Buy Low, I probably go downstairs to Shoppers Drug Mart ten times. There's nothing wrong with this grocery store. It's well kept, well staffed at the counters and is probably the least sketchy part of Kingsgate mall! For lack of a better description, though it's forgettable.

They have been sued in a class-action lawsuit for its role in a price-fixing scheme for packaged bread and has agreed to a $500 million settlement with its parent company, George Weston Ltd. The claims process for the settlement is now open to eligible Canadians who purchased packaged bread between 2001 and 2021. I've seen Silver Hills bread selling for $7.99 a loaf. The same bread sold for less than $6.00 at IGA and Safeway. Unethical practice by the owner / operator.

This is a great addition to the nearby lunch scene for staff and employees in the Coast Capitol building across the way. The aisles are a little narrow, but everything was clean and well-stocked. The bakery had a huge selection of cakes and pastries. The meat section had a better selection than the save on I have near home. The aisles were easy to navigate and things were easy to find. Hopefully, it all stays the same as time progresses. There is a pharmacy section to the left of the entrance, it is spacious and had most things that you'll need for day to day. The previous location on King Geroge was a little dingey and in need of an upgrade. This location is definitely a huge step above.
