This is an elegant restaurant. The decor and the ambiance has the embodiment of fine dining. We went for a celebratory dinner during devour Indy which I recommend because it provides a chance to experience the menu at a more reasonable price. This can often lead to a slight downgrade in quality as a result of the lower price pre-fixe menu. At Nesso the quality wasn't as issue when we ordered the dishes. The presentation and quality seemed impeccable but the flavors were slightly bland in comparison to most Italian restaurants such a Mama Corollas or Iozzos. Still it's worth the visit. read more

I don't post reviews often but for tonight dinner I had to. Me and my wife were eating at a Cunningham restaurant the other day when our server mentioned to us that they were opening a new Italian restaurant in the Alexander hotel. Our family is big Cunningham group fans so we were very intrigued. We were very excited to try it and decided to go tonight for their opening night. To start off, the ambiance and interior are absolutely beautiful. It gives off a high-end elegant feel yet it's warm and relaxed and very welcoming. Second, our sever was very sweet and friendly. I'm Italian and grew up eating traditional Italian food so I had a good idea of the ingredients/dishes. However, My wife is not and tends to ask lots of questions everywhere we go. The server did an outstanding job explaining each ingredient and how each dish was prepared. We also love our wine and the list they have is unbeatable to some other places in the area for the price and selections. Thirdly, the food was spot on. We got a couple appetizers to share and my favorite was the scallop crudo. It was a lighter dish yet so flavorful and satisfying. The bruschetta is different than most Italian restaurants you'd go to but just as good. If I had one complaint it would just be the bruschetta. It had three different toppings on each slice of bread. I just wish there was a few more pieces for the price on that one. We then split two of their pasta selections. The pasta was cooked perfectly. Out of the two we tried I have to say the calamarati was my favorite. The light sauce it's tossed in has raisins and pine nuts and the flavors from each compliment each other so well. It's served on top of a thick yogurt (almost like a cheese) the server explained and it was a nice rich texture to the light flavorful pasta. The pastas are smaller portions but I like that so you can try more than one and not be too full. Lastly, we split the pork shank. It was absolutely delicious. So flavorful and simple. Not a crazy amount of things going on and I like that. It was a healthy serving as well. I might say I wish I would have gotten the gnocchi too. The table next to us got it and it looked unbelievable so we will be returning soon for that. Finally for dessert we got Spumoni. I grew up eating this the traditional way but this one was creative and different in a good way. I can't really explain what's all in it but it was so good and had so many different textures and flavors that all flowed nicely together to create a beautiful and tasty dessert. We will definitely be returning soon. Based on all my years eating Italian food in and out of Italy this is by far one of the most traditional I have been to in all of Indiana. The price point is higher than your American Italian restaurant but that's because this is not that. They do a very good job of staying traditional but add a nice creative spin on the dishes which me and my wife loved. read more

Update - we've been here twice more and are still impressed! The pasta is divine. Only recommendations are to broaden the beer selection and have servers learn a bit more about wine recommendations. But honestly, can't beat that carbonara! read more

Came here for dinner by myself and I will say, it you want to have a great time sit at the bar! The bartenders were fabulous and unless you are trying to have an intimate date night the bar is where you want to sit. I started with the boulevardier, I prefer them over negronis because I find the bourbon tames the Campari a bit, making it less bitter. It was perfectly made. For food I got the carpaccio, which I highly recommend, it was divine. The prosciutto wrapped prunes with goat cheese was my next endeavor. The dish was excellent and I don't typically like prunes, they are usually too gummy for my taste and while these had that same texture there was so much that helped break it up and elevate the dish. Lastly I had the fois gras risotto with mushrooms and truffle. This is where I took off a star, I thought it was a good but the fois gras was almost imperceptible, and when I tried it by itself, in my opinion, it was lacking. To be honest, if the menu hadn't mentioned the fois gras, i never would have known it was there. The place is dynamite, the atmosphere is lively, the service impeccable and the food delicious. I definitely recommend coming here. read more

Great restaurant! Came in for a business dinner with 20 clients. The vibe was very welcoming. If you have read any of my reviews you know how much I appreciate good service. The service for our group was exceptional. The wait staff was very attentive and timely working through our meeting. They didn't intrude but got what they needed to get done. We have a set menu, and everything was very good. Started out with a meatball fish and a tuna dish. Both were a great start. I had the swordfish and it was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. It came with a lemon-caper sauce and caponata, however the highlight was the Sardinian couscous. It was a perfect accompaniment to the protein. I tried the tiramisu for dessert and it was a great finish to a great meal. I look forward to coming back on my own and having the whole menu to choose from. read more

What a wonderful addition to Indianapolis! Firstly, I cannot say enough about the staff at Nesso. They were very attentive and accommodating. Even if the food was sub-par I'd still go back because of the customer service. But that was not the case. Food, drinks, 5 star. I had the Branzino, (sea bass, potato verdura, chile, tomato, olive oil, herb, basil aioli, fennel, lemon), incredible. the perfect amount of lemon and butter. Nesso is THE place for that special night. You won't be sorry. read more

We ate here before a concert at Banker's life and they were able to get us out in time for our show. The food was good. The portions were tiny, but I knew that going in. I'm normally fine with that if they blow my mind. But I didn't feel like the meal was worth the high price. I will pay for good food but expect to be wowed. Maybe I'll give it another try, but only likely if someone asks me to join them. This wouldn't be my first choice. There is better Italian food in Indy. read more

Wow that was one of the best meals I ever had! Came with my husband for date night and ordered the prosciutto appetizer which was so tasty. The waiter told us they get the prosciutto from Italy so it was nice and thin cut. It came with with bread, apple butter & mustard. So good! I ordered the Capesante (scallops) as my entree and my husband had the short rib. The scallops were cooked perfectly and were perfectly balanced in flavor! My husband said he really enjoyed the short rib too - he didn't even need a knife to cut the meat to eat it and it was hearty and filling. Last, we ordered the cannoli sundae (seasonal pistachio ice cream) and it was amazing, we ate it up so fast. Overall, LOVED the food and the service was great too! I'd definitely come back! read more

What a nice addition to the Indy food scene and a great replacement in the Cerulean location. The updated interior is nice - the former bar area has been replaced with a small dining area which I presume is a little quieter than the main space. The restaurant sports a large central bar that is accommodating for walk-ins and for a drink while awaiting your group. The atmosphere is lively but not overly loud. The bathrooms are individual with fragrances provided by local Penn and Beach Candle Co. The drinks were great. We had the boulevardier and the bellini (which changes seasonally). The prices are somewhat to be expected for craft cocktails. The wine list is extensive and a lot of great Italian options: try a vino noble as prices, generally, tend to have not been as inflated as a barolo or brunello. If the wine list is a little overwhelming there is a sommelier available. We started with a charcuterie board. The hibiscus mustard and crispy prosciutto are great. The ham is also quite tasty. The lardo was ok, unsure how long it has been aged, as was the eggplant. For our crudo we had the tonno (tuna) which was fresh and sported some amazing flavors on the plate. Next visit we will have to try the beef carpaccio because that looks amazing as well. The antipasti dish was the prosciutto which also was amazing and highly recommend. The primi was a pumpkin tortelloni which was fantastic and the pear gnocchi which was very flavorful but the pears were a bit ripe and lacked the sweet punch of pear which would have been nice to have. Secondi was the branzino (sea bass) and vitello (veal). Both dishes were great and would recommend. Dessert was the tiramisu which was a nice take on a classic dish - paired nicely with the coffee. The small french press has roughly 1.5-2 cups of coffee and the time spent steeping prior to serving was timed nicely. Finally, the service. Perhaps this reflects the Cunningham group or a seasoned manager, but, for a restaurant that has been open less than a month they surely have a lot figured out. Short waiting time on a Saturday night with a reservation. Quick and friendly service. Molly helped us walk through the menu as most of it is in Italian, although the description is in English and usually explains what the dish is. Water was always refilled and the wine glass seemed to always be refilled in a perfect manner. Once the runners are able to explain the dish in a little more thorough manner it will be perfect - but once again, Molly did a great job at explaining what was on our plates and did so shortly after being served. Looking forward to a return! read more

Nesso provides an excellent Italian dining experience! From the food, desserts, wine, and the service itself -- impeccable.

This is a Cunningham group restaurant, that took over the Cerulean. We ate at bar. Bartender personalized service, made excellent cocktails. We ordered from the Devour Indy menu. The portions were modest, the flavors were fabulous. I don't believe that Nesso serves the type of food that many think of an Italian restaurant serving. (No spaghetti, no lasagna, or the like. Visit Iaria's for that fare; nobody does it better.) This restaurant definitely has an adult atmosphere, not a family feel. Great date place. read more

Literally everything we tried was amazing. You can't go wrong! Especially those black truffles - yum!

Had the most incredible meal and server... I think his name was Brandon?! His wine and food suggestions were perfection, and we had the best experience! The mushroom dish was AMAZING! Can't wait to go back! read more

I've been waiting for a couple months to go here and my husband finally agreed! It was great!! We had the Prosciutto wrapped prunes and the bread as an appetizer. Prunes were amazing. A piece of the bread had nuts in it (walnuts I believe) which was different but good. We then carbo-loaded and had the Mezzaluna pasta with a pumpkin sauce and prosciutto, risotto with mushrooms, and spaghetti with chicken meatballs. All delish! The risotto could have used a bit of salt but that didn't stop us from eating it! The Tartufo for dessert was like a blast of upscale Nutella but I'd probably try something else next time. SO MANY GREAT FOOD CHOICES!!! Will be back!! read more

Great atmosphere, but the food let us down. We showed up on time for our reservation and were promptly taken to our table by the bar by a friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff. The wine, bread, and prosciutto appetizers were divine. The mains fell short. My gnocchi was cloyingly sweet and my husbands tortellini tasted solely of lemon. The saving grace was the ricotta donut dessert. Would I go back again? Not for dinner, but definitely for the wine, bread, appetizers, dessert and ambiance. read more

Seriously delicious dining! This restaurant is classy but casual and accommodating enough for us to bring our 10mo out to enjoy Devour Indy. The staff was so attentive and friendly and gave great recs on wine pairing. The food was light and healthy with amazing flavor. They had wonderful vegetarian and pescatarian options. Will definitely be back to check out the full menu! read more

The entire experience dining at Nesso was fantastic. This restaurant is not your typical hotel restaurant. It IS one of the best, if not best, fine dining in Indy. If you are staying at the Alexander and looking for fine dining, you have the best option in the area right there. Some people may try to talk you into an iconic Indy steakhouse, but Nesso is hands down the better option. Service was knowledgeable and friendly. The cocktail I had, a Manhattan variation, "swims with the fishes" was spot on, smooth and a hint of citrus. Fresh oysters from the west coast served with a red wine vinegar accompaniment were delicious. I could probably eat 50 of them. I had the short rib with a polenta and broccoli raab. It was high end comfort food at its best. My wife ordered scallops with an orzo and really enjoyed them. For dessert we ordered the ricotta doughnuts with lemon curd, a nut cream cheese, chocolate, etc. the doughnuts were piping hot and melted in my mouth, a perfect way to end a ridiculously good meal, with some good coffee too. One of the best restaurants in Indy and a good value also, while not cheap, Nesso won't break the bank either. read more

Amazing food and very educated waiter, Anthony. Everything was amazingly delicious! And after just getting home from Italy, very true to the culture there. We went for our anniversary and did not regret it! Try the AGNOLOTTI for dinner and the SPUMONI TERRINE for dessert - you won't be disappointed! We will definitely be back read more

Place is great, location is awesome. Servicers were attentive. The problem was the food. I ordered the shank but food was too salty.

Amazing service and menu! Everytime we've been has been great, had our company dinner heree and everyone loved it. Great wine selection!

Our waiter Anthony was incredibly knowledgeable about the food and made the experience seamless. We made a reservation on a Friday and had no problem being sat right away. The mushroom pasta is a must !! read more

Date night with the wife tonight and this was the atmosphere we were looking for. Food was great and service was excellent. There is valet at The Armstrong for $8 if your wondering. I would highly recommend splitting all food so that you can get the entire experience and different flavors. Bartender was excellent and had the skills to make multiple different old fashioned's which was a plus. Will return here to try new things. read more

I have been to my fair share of nice restaurants around Indy so I have become quite picky when it comes to what is 5 star. Service 100% met those standards. Our waiter was knowledgeable and always prompt without being overbearing. He did a great job helping with wine selections and recommending dishes. Food however I would rate as a 3 star. Not because it wasn't good, but because it wasn't as good as I was expecting for the price. Obviously you are expecting to pay a premium but I also expect a premium product. I felt my carbonara lacked flavor and I was not super impressed with the tonno appetizer. Everything was beautifully plated though and my boyfriend did really enjoy the lobster tortellini which the server raved about. Overall its a beautiful space and great staff, I just wasn't sold on the value of the food for the money. read more

One of the best new restaurants downtown. They did a great job with the remodel of this space. It's part of the Cunningham group The staff was well trained and helpful. I would go back again. It is a little pricey read more

What a great night. Barry the bartender serves a fantastic drink along with an amazing personality. Alex is a manager that went above and beyond to make sure that our visit in to Nesso was the best that it could be. Every dish that we ate and every drink that we consumed was outstanding. read more

Four of us had a birthday dinner at Nesso and it was outstanding. Service was phenomenal, portions were right on, decor was tasteful, seating was comfortable - we had plenty of room and didn't feel like we were on top of our neighbors. We each ordered a different entree - Branzino, Vitello (veal), Bistecca (NY Strip), Stinco Di Maiale Brasato (pork shank). The pork shank was good but seemed a little dry - everything else was excellent. We also had broccolini, risotto and kale to share. I only tried the risotto and it was fabulous with some foil gras and truffle. Since we were celebrating a birthday, we got a cannoli trio (pistachio-ricotta & dark chocolate was the favorite of the three) and a Tartufo di Cioccolato (dark chocolate mousse, caramel creme, caramelized hazelnut butter, malted mousseline) that was to die for. read more

2nd time there for dinner in 2 weeks. Excellent service (I had the same energetic and knowledgable waiter twice!), food (ingredients, preparation and presentation), extensive drink lists. You can taste EVERY ingredient in the dish but still perfectly harmonious. Definitely recommend the Polpo! We had Tonno, Gnocchi, Branzino, Involtino di Pollo, Insalata della casa, amongst many others, before and all worth-recommending as well! A bit pricey and upscale, but definitely a memorable place for both casual get-together or special occasions ... read more

The attractive exterior and the Cunningham brought us in to try this new spot, With warmer weather is love to enjoy the wonderful location and varied alcoves outside. $15 for 3 course meal?!? That's crazy cheap for such great food. Caesar salad was awesome, but the best part was the sauce on the spaghetti and meatballs. Something about that sauce was so delicious! The cheesecake was also amazing. You've gotta try this! read more

Nesso is fabulous. I recently went with a small group of friends to celebrate my engagement. We sat outdoors on the patio and there was a fire going as well as outdoor portable heaters to keep everyone nice and warm. Indoor seating was also available. The staff was very friendly and all around lovely. I highly recommend one of the spritzes on the cocktail menu. I have had a lot of pasta in my life so I do not say this lightly: the tagliatelle alfredo was the best pasta I've ever had in my life. I can't wait to have it again. read more

Food was delicious! Only did not give 5 stars because our server did not seem well versed in the menu. He had a very slow pace and not a lot of follow through. Would definitely return though, the mushroom trifle agnolotti was amazing! read more

A nice restaruant with good food and service. The portions were quite small and we had to end up ordering additional plates, such as the pasta (I thought two and an entree were enough, but we needed a third!) We got dessert to go which was quite tasty! read more

We were blown away by the quality and masterful cooking of the food. The service was out of this world as well. Worth every penny!

Not quite perfect and would do 4:5 starts if I could Great food and beautiful restaurant. Servers were knowledgeable with the menus entrees and wine recommendations. Only complaint is that the portions were a little small, but the taste and overall experience outweighed any downside. Will definite come back next time we visit Indianapolis. read more

Glad a good place finally posted up shop in the Alexandar. Tried out Nesso during the Devour downtown, so it was a reasonably priced meal, but I could see how dinner could become a little pricey. Everything we had - appetizer, entree, and dessert was quality - I will try it again. read more

This place is now in the running for our favorite restaurant in Indianapolis. We went for our anniversary on Friday, and everything we ordered was incredible. The gnocchi and veal were cooked perfectly, and the octopus was fresh. Our waiter Cory was great as well, as you can tell they knew what they were doing when they assembled the waitstaff. Being a new restaurant, we had expected some issues, but you would have thought the place had been running for years. I'm sure we will be back soon. read more

The food here is very delicious but very expensive. Also the portions are very small. My roommate and I went here before a concert at Lucas Oil since this restaurant is inside the Alexander hotel and that is just across the street from the stadium. Nesso is a classy high end restaurant that would be great for bringing a person you were trying to impress on a date or a business meeting where you weren't trying to eat a lot. Everything is additional; the bread you have to pay for separately as an appetizer. Again the food is great, but don't go there super hungry. The display of the plates is exquisite and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful when it comes to selecting cocktails and drinks off their very unique menu. The atmosphere is also a treat as the decor is high end and gives a vibe of "the finer things in life". read more
