Nepenthe Brewing was long on my list for breweries to try. When the opportunity arose I was super excited to get another brewery off of my list but also after further exploration I really liked the brewery concepts as far as their logos go. I say this because I love getting brewery swag. I love this kind of thing and I go sporting around in t-shirts and such from other breweries and occasionally it's a conversation starter and other times it's not. It's okay if it's not. The "Golden Age" of the craft brewery is dissipating and it seems kind of fast but it is what it is as alcohol consumption is decreasing and the popularity of it is decreasing. So I feel like I am grabbing the fumes of whatever breweries I can try before more diminish... and doing the swag wearing reminds me when things were a bit different... when we were a bit younger. Anyway getting to the primary point here. The beer! Steve and I had one of the beers from this brewery. It was the Cryomancer which was an American style IPA that we both liked the flavor profile of considerably. I have had IPA's that aren't all that exciting but the way this one tasted hit all the right spots and it felt like something new was brought to the table and to her our tastebuds. Flavor features in this beer are hoppiness, pine, bitter and subtle. The beer is light bodied which is nice as it doesn't make it too intense and it's pretty easy to drink more than one due to this non aggressive flavor profile ( or less so anyway).

I had a desire to get a nice cold one on a warm summer day so I decided to walk to my neighborhood brewery. The vibe was chill and lowkey. A nice local brewery feel. When I was ready I walked up and placed an order. I got the space jellyfish ipa and a watermelon feta salad. The staff were attentive and friendly. They promptly brought out my drink later followed by my salad. The food was delicious service was great and I will definitely be returning in the future. Hooray local beer

Came here during Winter restaurant week because their offerings on that specific menu piqued my interest. It was also trivia night so it was pretty busy. I came a few minutes after 8pm thinking I could order off the menu because the kitchen closes at 8:30 only to be told while the kitchen does close at 8:30, the menu stopped at 8. I ended up not ordering food because nothing on the regular menu spoke to me. Ordered a pint of Polydribbles which was pretty tasty. I wish that they would have posted the availability of Restaurant week menu on their website and IG flyer so I wouldn't have made a wasted trip.

Overall: one of the best breweries around, excellent beer, unique, delicious, and hearty food, indoor and outdoor seating, kind service, nice garage door that opens the space up, inclusive single-stall restrooms, has a changing pad and high chairs This place and Jailbreak are my two favorite breweries around. There aren't a ton of local breweries that also do food well, but this place knocks both the food and the beer out of the park. I really enjoyed their IPAs and sours. Their sours were in cans not on draft so they couldn't be included in the flights. All of our food was incredible. Everything on the menu looks so fun and unique. I love that they partner with Taharka brothers. Our ice cream cookie sandwich for dessert was delightful. My only critiques would be that we weren't big fans of the chips and the chicken in the motherclucker was a little tough to bite through.

Awesome time at Nepenthe great beer and food. I got two beers from there selection. A porter and IPA. Both were great. The staff were very helpful in picking out stuff. For food I got the Peruvian chicken sandwich. It was well seasoned and fried. Had a nice balance of heat and savory flavors with the sauce. Overall a fantastic experience.

Had a great time visiting Nepenthe with friends after work! Seating is pretty open and plenty inside, and I believe there are a few tables outside as well. You order at the bar and wait for drinks to be made/poured immediately while food is delivered to your table! The margarita was pretty standard, and overall priced fairly. My friends had beers and said they love all of the beers offered here! I had the burger and it was seasoned and cooked the way I asked! There is happy hour, which has both food specials and drink specials (there's a chosen beer that is $5 during happy hour I believe). Parking is difficult to find because the streets are just packed and there is no dedicated parking, but would definitely come here again!

summary: great beer selection (and other adult drinks). great food. and a hodge podge of different seating options. nice bathroom options to boot. no notes. Nepenthe kind of has the decor vibe of a grungy bar, but (thankfully for me at least) that's kind of where it ends. The food options are great with a large variety of things to order from. Everything that I've ordered has been delicious. The bartenders were very kind. Bathrooms were single-stall and clean. They have like a multi-tiered seating situation. There's like a mini-upstairs platform, a main floor area, and garage door seating (bay door opens up where you can people-watch or sit outside). I found some of their sweet options on the sweeter side - like the chicken sandwich was smothered in maple syrup and their ice cream sandwich, although it was delicious, was very rich (splitting and sharing with 4 people was plenty for me). overall, Nepenthe is a bit of a trek for me, but has nailed it every visit we've had.

We visited this brewery on a weekend afternoon. It was busy, but we were able to find spots at the bar. The bartenders here are really friendly! The vibe is also cool; there's a lot of awesome art and its vibrant space and atmosphere. We tried several different beers and all were good. Didn't partake in food this time, but saw some that looked pretty good. Overall, this is a fun brewery with good beers and I'll definitely return!

Great neighborhood restaurant! Food is wonderful (slash burger and fries - wooeeh good! I didn't realize how long it had been since I had a really good hamburger) and an updated menu. Looks like plenty of drink options (I'm not a beer guy). There is plenty of space to sit and hang out with friends. Parking is neighborhood-ish, but I didn't drive far to find a spot. Staff are tremendously friendly. If I could give 6 stars...

A classic brewery slinging beers and really solid bar food. Their beers are great, they do tend to be IPA heavy with a few other types. The mallet is my go to, it's their version of a light beer, really mild and chuggable. I'm not a huge beer drinker and I enjoy it. Their wings are my favorite thing. They're crispy and steamy and their sauce could slap my grandma and I'd forgive it. So flavorful, so delicious. The nachos are also really good, and the burger is super solid too! It gets POPIN here on game days, so either bring some pals and pony up to the bar and watch or stay away on game days depending on what your flavor of person is haha

First impressions, this is totally my scene. Vibrant, lively, great music, awesome service and TVs for sports. And the food coming out of the kitchen smelled amazing. I walked in, sat at the bar and was greeted by both servers. I felt welcome from the start and that made for a truly great experience. I liked that although it was a brewery, besides the craft beer, they had wine, spirits and some really cool mixed drinks. There is a little bit of something for everyone here. Scan the QR code for the full menu, but your servers can guide you as well. The food on the menu looked amazing, but I was feeling adventurous so I ordered the wings. If you like your wings with veggies, they don't offer any, but they did give me a choice of ranch or blue cheese. The wings were perfect. 8 glorious, well prepared wings. The BEER: Space Jelly IPA 7% ABV... Oh My Goodness! Let's Go!!! Juicy, not too sweet, fruit on the front, grass on the finish, quite dank and deceptively smooth. Doesn't taste like 7%. Muggle Juice spiced winter ale 7.5% ABV... ummm, yummm, pumpkin spice and delicious, better than a latte. Slightly boozy on the finish and really wonderful. Terminal Exodus Czech dark lager 4.8% ABV... so smooth, totally crushable and they serve it with a lot of head so you can get all that creamy Czech goodness Spontaneous Deviations #5 circa 2023 Barleywine 9.3% ABV... this is unbelievably smooth for a high ABV barleywine. I would call this Barleywine lite. It is really smooth, has a lighter mouth feel than most of the barley wines I have had. This is a keeper, as in keep it in your beer fridge and not just for special occasions. Polluted Sacruary west coast IPA 6% ABV... this west coast won me over, because I am not a West coast fan. Low in IBUs smooth, fruit forward with a piney and floral finish. This is awesomeness. Grim Tidings west coast DIPA 8.3%... a little boozy on the finish with some grapefruit notes. Werewolf death grip American Kolsch 5.5% ABV... not your typical kolsch, has way more body and I get botanical ls and a hint of cucumber. Mouth feel is heavier than a typical Kolsch. This is a gold medal beer. Cerebra session IPA 4.5% ABV... I didn't think I would like thus because normally session IPAs, So very crushable. This is a great summer beer! I did it all for chnookie pale ale 6.7% ABV...Soooo, definitely a West coast, all kinds of piney, but super low in IB US for a West Coast IPA. This is very good. More than Human West coast TIPA 10.2% ABV... All I can say is this is a perfectly balanced beer and if I didn't have to walk, talk and function properly, I could drink this all day. Drink 3 of these and you'll need a designated walker. So, in my limited experience Nepenthe Brewing Co has the best beer in Baltimore. Great service, great food and fantastic beer makes this a must visit if you want an awesome craft beer experience in Baltimore. I guarantee if you put this at the top of your list, you not only won't be disappointed, but probably will be thanking me. Last note: owner is: Brian, Brewers are Eric, Brandon and Renee. There is magic happening here.

People kept telling me about this place, so I finally listened. It was not at all what I expected when I stepped inside. Large, spacious venue with a million beers listed on a huge beer board at the bar. Tons of seating and cool decor with a hipster vibe. And the food? The food! This menu is unique and offers vegan options and Asian flare cuisine. DLicious! Ten-ounce pours are reasonably priced at $5.50, 16 oz at $8. The Vegan Smoke Burger was amazing and something that could become a habit. Yummy IPAs - the Ludicrous Speed and Diviners were very tasty, hoppy and fresh. Great service, great food, better beer!

Nepenthe is such an underrated gem in Baltimore! As a vegetarian, I appreciate their very veggie friendly food options such as their tofu wings. The sauces are AMAZING- esp the gochujang one! Their variety of beers is top notch. I love the open air when they open up the garage doors. The brewery is very spacious and can get really packed but the service is very quick!

And I love that they give back to the community in areas such as education, community and philanthropy. Stopped in this past Saturday with a bunch of my gym friends. I love that their tap list offers a little bit of everything for everyone, from classic lagers and IPA to house ciders. I am a Pilsner girl, so their Pilsner was my fave. I love that they do weekly events such as Trivia and open mic nights to name a few as well as host a few several food trucks out back. Oh and this is the spot where they have that really nice flea market as well. You have to check their Instagram page to see which food trucks will be serving food. Saturday they had empanadas from Aru Aru, which were very yummy and made fresh to order. Best spot if you are a beer connoisseur, great place for happy hours and is accommodating for large parties. Plus you bring your own cards and board games to play as well. I will so definitely return.

The old church and architecture is so warm and inviting-- it was still decorated and lit for Christmas so it felt extra festive. It WAS weird to see the brew tanks at the front of the old church, where the altar would have been. But it also places the beer on the altar of our Friday night so I was OK with that. I had an American Pale Ale, the husband had a Kolsch. My beer was exceptional and delicious. My husband said the kolsch was OK. They also have a cute space with books and board games! As well as a cool merchandise wall with excellent cool t-shirts. I had to restrain myself. There is no kitchen or food served here. Order at the bar and sit where you want, there are plenty of tables and a lot of elbow space. The folks at the bar are Super Nice and you should tip them well. They told me there is usually a food truck that shows up at an undisclosed time in the evening. We did order some fantastic pretzels (w/ smoked gouda) and waited some more but ultimately had to go find a meal elsewhere. We will be back, perhaps in warmer weather to wait out the food truck and have more beer. Also, we were there for happy hour so our beers were $5! Thank you to all of the kind people at The Ministry of Brewing! We will be back.

What a fun brewery!…read more My brother had a birthday gathering here this year - we were able to comfortably seat a group of 15-20 people in the outdoor picnic section area. Highly recommend this spot for groups looking for a place to gather and socialize. The space is deceivingly large; there are multiple indoor spaces all within a quick stride from a long bar with dozens of beer taps. The outdoor space is even larger than what's available indoors; their vast street level patio/deck space is full of picnic tables and benches that are perfect for larger groups when the weather is nice. And yes, their outdoor patio is pet friendly. While the brewery itself doesn't serve food, there was a food truck (that looked to be there quite often) set up in the outdoor area that had several good options. I had their burger and fries which was exactly what I needed after an afternoon of brews. The beer itself was tasty; I had several of their hazy IPA's which I've grown to enjoy. They also offer a very solid selection of N/A beer options; some of the folks in our group enjoyed them and gave them great reviews. I didn't get a chance to check out the arcade portion of the brewery, but yes, this is a barcade as well. Guilford Hall: Profs & Pints…read more I went to the Profs & Pints event that's hosted at Guilford Hall. So this is a 2 in 1 review. Food: Black Garlic Truffle fries: really great balanced flavors. My only complaint is the fries could've been a little crispier but that could be due to the long line of orders, it may have been waiting under the lamps because the kitchen is filling orders for both upstairs and downstairs. The truffle sauce was like an earthy, Smokey bbq sauce. I really enjoyed the flavor. Reuben Eggrolls - BOMB! So juicy, perfectly fried. I tried it with and without the house mustard sauce. It's good on its own but the mustard sauce kicks it up a notch. I've seen so many versions of cheesesteak Eggrolls, crab egg rolls, etc it's done to death in my opinion. But a REUBEN EGGROLL ?? amazing, that's the innovative thinking I like to see. And if you don't like grilled Reuben's .... Grow up House salad: I added grilled shrimp and the house creamy ceaser dressing. The shrimp was grilled perfectly, great flavors, not too salty or over seasoned. Just right. The dressing was a solid Caesar dressing and same for the salad itself. A solid house salad. I love the new menu design, so much more elevated and well thought out. If you're not a beer drinker or don't know a lot about beers, the menu provides you with recommended beer pairings for each item. They also have a new chef. I loved the old chef, I had so many personal faves on the menu so I was a little bit hesitant. But I'm intrigued about some of the new items they've added to the menu. And although I've only tried a few things tonight, I'd say so far so good. I'll be back. Ambiance: Guilford Hall is honestly a hidden gem. The venue and architecture is gorgeous. You have the main restaurant downstairs and the event space upstairs. They host so many different events as well so I would recommend checking out their events page. Service: I'd they the service was the only gripe I had. And I don't mean the servers themselves, They're great and work very hard. My gripe is with the lack of adequate staffing for the event. They only had two servers taking orders for a very full event. So unfortunately it took a long time to get your order taken. You can order at the bar but the bartenders always insist that you order at the table, which again can take forever, so people go to the bar ...... lol it's a losing game. So I'd say get there at the very beginning before the venue fills up and get your food order in or don't go on an empty stomach like I did Now for the event itself. If you've never been to profs & pints I highly recommend. There's so many interesting topics to choose from. Speaker: Dr. Todd B. Kashdan Topic: The Science of Curiosity He was a very personable and engaging, and had great delivery with the perfect balance of insight and humor. He incorporated break out sessions to encourage the audience to interact with the people at their tables. It's open seating so great for connecting with strangers. I loved his perspective. He had great presence and took a relaxed/humble yet confident approach to public speaking. A key take away for me is to remember to turn your curiosity inward without judgement. Like what would you if no one was watching and you weren't thinking about what other people think. Your initial impressions of people are often wrong and you close the door too quickly. Assuming perspective instead of getting someone's perspective because you're seeing this as a representation of one monolithic idea as opposed to understanding who they actually are. This was in relation to a question someone asked about Race and who defines what is vs what things could actually be. And how when we have more of these conversations instead of avoiding them that leads to a more open world with less isms, bullying, prejudice, etc. All in all a great night. I highly recommend.

The mango slush was a bit too sweet for my liking, but contained a good balance of alcohol to mango flavor. There's a cute tuxedo cat roaming around as well!

Our party grabbed a high top table, but that was tricky with our littlest, so we went outside to the patio. While in the winter they have some space heaters to make it more pleasant, they only cover a small amount of the patio. We were far from the only folks with kiddos (a lot of babies and toddlers around), which is why I was surprised I didn't see any high chairs or booster seats. Just be aware if you bring littles. I imagine the patio is probably a lot better in the warmer months, but be aware that there's not much indoor space in colder weather. The pizza was probably the best part of the visit. Their "plain" cheese, the "Formaggio" is a 5-cheese blend that we enjoyed, especially Child #1 and Child #3. We also enjoyed our pepperoni pizza (sorry, Child #2, no olives as a topping). My wife got the chicken tenders for Child #3 and they both shared it - said it was solid. My friends got the pretzels with their Jersey Pizza and the one piece I had was good - sweet and salty glaze; I just wish there were more to eat. The beers were okay. My wife and I are fond of sours, so we got the Peach Cobbler Sour and the Black Shadows wild ale. My wife commented how the peach cobbler sour was surprisingly bitter. The Black Shadows was quite funky. It's not for everyone but if you like wild/sour/funky beers, it's worth a try. Overall not bad.

I was able to hang out at the bar and sample a couple different curations from Jordan and a new cocktail making its way to the menu. Big thanks to Kevin who more than graciously provided me with samples to help me figure out what would be my sipper for the evening. They have a beer that smells exactly like weed. Now that's either your thing or not lol. I had to sample and it definitely gave what it was intended to give. Did you say sample a new cocktail coming soon to the menu? Why yes, I will every time. It did not miss! You know we Yelpers love having the chance to try something first! Two L's (sp) me anytime, please. I also love the graffiti decor, (see pictures) which depicts depth and originality throughout the brewery. There's also multiple items for purchase from local artists that is displayed throughout as well. There is a lot of space so think about hosting an event here if you need an area. They also have those bay doors and a seating area beyond them which could definitely be a private area. They are also dog friendly so bring your companion as long as they're sociable. They also have a food menu and pop ups looks different items from time to time so make sure to stay in the know so you don't miss out on something special. Make sure to enter in the doors at 3:00 if you're standing directly in front of the purple Wico sign. It isn't around the corner, just turn your head to the right and you'll see the clear doors there. Don't miss them and walk all the way around the corner or getting your car and drive around the corner either SMH I can definitely see myself coming back to enjoy one of their events or just hang out with good company at the bar.

When we arrived, we were seated right away, but it seemed like there were very few staff working--possibly only one waiter. It took about 10 minutes before we finally had to flag him down just to place our order. The food then took around 25-30 minutes to come out, which felt very long since we were on a tight schedule for our flight. When the food finally arrived, I ordered the macaroni and cheese, and unfortunately it was the worst mac and cheese I've ever had. I don't want to be mean, but it was very bland and really needed salt. My sister surprisingly liked it, but it just wasn't for me at all. The rest of my family did enjoy their meals, and I thought the fries were decent, just lightly seasoned. My mom especially liked the grilled cheese. The waiter himself was nice and kept our drinks refilled, so I don't think the long wait was entirely his fault. The restaurant is very cute inside with cozy, old-style vibes and festive Christmas decorations, which I really liked. However, between the long wait times, the limited menu, and my disappointing mac and cheese, I wouldn't recommend that dish. Overall, it's a charming place, but the service was too slow for us--especially when trying to catch a flight.
