Veggie Wrap
Steve A.

A pretty cool spot in Wilmington that's a hangout. It seems popular with locals. Nelly's is best known for burgers and hot dogs but they have some other stuff too. Get food and have it at the brewery next to it. This looks like a pretty fun place to come in and see the crap on all the walls. It looks like a pretty interesting place with lots of crazy history. So much fun memorabilia to check out. There's lots of interesting stories. Customers have written on the walls and they haven't cleaned any of it off. There's years of comments and names written on the walls. Fun to read while waiting for your order. The food isn't as memorable but it's still okay though. It mostly has burgers and hot dogs. They also have a Veggie Wrap. It's $7 for a small one. This has cheese, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. It can also be customized. This also comes with a pickle. Has some basic diner food. It's cheap for most items. They will also deliver to the brewery next to here so you can eat there.

Dont get the burgers

The burger completely fell apart and was overdone. The grilled chicken sandwhich was ok. The milkshake was watery. The best things were the pizza puff and the fries. Was bummed because I heard great things. Maybe ill stick to a hotdog or pizza puff next time.

Three of us ended up at Nelly's for lunch in the mid afternoon. Even late they had a pretty good amount of customers. From the counter we ordered a burger, a patty melt and a pork loin sandwich. I think the place is known for its burgers. The tenderloin was on of those pre-made frozen jobs but it was good. And big. Service with a smile and decent food. Cannot ask for much more.

Monday special.

My sister and I stopped in here for lunch after visiting the nearby Midewin National Prairies and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. The restaurant has a large and interesting selection of beers brewed on the premises. I enjoyed the Downtown Brown, and my sister liked her Paulie's IPA. The half-pound cheeseburgers and fries were the Monday special and were a great and tasty deal considering their generous portion and excellent cooking. Ordering them medium was a good choice since they don't overcook the meat like so many other places do. The fries were hot and delicious. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming...proactively offering the option to taste multiple beers on tap. They clearly explained the ordering process: order food at the back counter and beers at the bar. They use a pager system to let you know when your meal is ready. There are also tables outside if you want to dine al fresco, but we enjoyed the local atmosphere indoors.

Eating area Try the bison burger. Always a good place to stop whether you're local or just passing through.

Whether you're a local or a tourist, biker just passing through, it's a great place for a stop. Try the bison burger. Yum. I think they have Wifi though I Never tried it. Go see it.

Came back a year later just to make sure the burger was as good as I remembered. Yep, it's the real deal. Great beefy and slightly fatty burger taste along with some well-matched, fresh accompaniments. I had the Southalls Southwestern TD done medium and can put my stamp of approval on that one. Fries are done perfectly too with that crisp outer layer and moist mash insides. Pull off the interstate for a taste of small town goodness, you'll be glad you did.

After a long hike at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, me and my friends stumbled upon this hidden gem. We were looking for a burger and this had exactly what we were looking for. The burgers were huge and juicy. The meat was cooked to perfection. We ordered Cajun fries which were seasoned well. I wish we could have dined in to get the full experience. If we are ever in the area, we will definitely be back!

Bitchy teenager who "doesn't want to be there" working the register but the food was excellent! Had a great paddy melt and onion rings.

A place mostly frequented by locals, but some fans come from afar. The prices are pretty good, even after all these years it seems, and you can get a lot for not a lot. A big time popular place in the summer around here. It's a classic but it still gets quite a few people, and there's usually a line. The food is pretty much simple and there's nothing really special. It's about $3 for a pretzel, including a side of cheese. Slightly better than those boxed frozen ones. Most of the draw is the hot dogs. These are basic looking, and can come with their signature chili sauce. Also ice cream. They have the required root beer floats. Burgers are another of the eats. The stuff usually comes out pretty fast, which is great for how busy it can get. Have the best experience here in the summer when it's warmer and you can sit on the outside tables and eat the nostalgic food. It's pretty good prices for what they have. This isn't great, but it's pretty okay for around here though.

Apparently there was a race to cut the cucumbers and tomatoes as the slices were all too thick to sit correctly on the bun. They threw in a whopping (2) sport peppers. And worst of all, the hot dog was clearly not a Vienna and instead reminded me of every penis I've seen in every autopsy I've attended (a lot). It was pale, disgusting, and looked like it had been pulled from a bathtub after being dead for 6 days. There was zero flavor to the hot dog. $5 for something that should never be served. The guy working there was clearly excited about playing big boss to the 2 high school aged girls there, although he couldn't tell them to sweep all the chips off the floor in the dining area. And all you can get is chips - they have no deep fryer. The ceiling tiles were stained and gross. This place looked like it was abandoned 3 years ago and they just opened it today to serve the 2 hot dogs left in water before they closed. You'd do better at the disgusting Long John Silver/KFC combo shack a few blocks away. And that's sad. Go to downtown Morris for food you can actually eat.
