Veggie Wrap
Steve A.

A pretty cool spot in Wilmington that's a hangout. It seems popular with locals. Nelly's is best known for burgers and hot dogs but they have some other stuff too. Get food and have it at the brewery next to it. This looks like a pretty fun place to come in and see the crap on all the walls. It looks like a pretty interesting place with lots of crazy history. So much fun memorabilia to check out. There's lots of interesting stories. Customers have written on the walls and they haven't cleaned any of it off. There's years of comments and names written on the walls. Fun to read while waiting for your order. The food isn't as memorable but it's still okay though. It mostly has burgers and hot dogs. They also have a Veggie Wrap. It's $7 for a small one. This has cheese, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. It can also be customized. This also comes with a pickle. Has some basic diner food. It's cheap for most items. They will also deliver to the brewery next to here so you can eat there.

Dont get the burgers

The burger completely fell apart and was overdone. The grilled chicken sandwhich was ok. The milkshake was watery. The best things were the pizza puff and the fries. Was bummed because I heard great things. Maybe ill stick to a hotdog or pizza puff next time.

Three of us ended up at Nelly's for lunch in the mid afternoon. Even late they had a pretty good amount of customers. From the counter we ordered a burger, a patty melt and a pork loin sandwich. I think the place is known for its burgers. The tenderloin was on of those pre-made frozen jobs but it was good. And big. Service with a smile and decent food. Cannot ask for much more.

Monday special.

My sister and I stopped in here for lunch after visiting the nearby Midewin National Prairies and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. The restaurant has a large and interesting selection of beers brewed on the premises. I enjoyed the Downtown Brown, and my sister liked her Paulie's IPA. The half-pound cheeseburgers and fries were the Monday special and were a great and tasty deal considering their generous portion and excellent cooking. Ordering them medium was a good choice since they don't overcook the meat like so many other places do. The fries were hot and delicious. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming...proactively offering the option to taste multiple beers on tap. They clearly explained the ordering process: order food at the back counter and beers at the bar. They use a pager system to let you know when your meal is ready. There are also tables outside if you want to dine al fresco, but we enjoyed the local atmosphere indoors.

Eating area Try the bison burger. Always a good place to stop whether you're local or just passing through.

Whether you're a local or a tourist, biker just passing through, it's a great place for a stop. Try the bison burger. Yum. I think they have Wifi though I Never tried it. Go see it.

Came back a year later just to make sure the burger was as good as I remembered. Yep, it's the real deal. Great beefy and slightly fatty burger taste along with some well-matched, fresh accompaniments. I had the Southalls Southwestern TD done medium and can put my stamp of approval on that one. Fries are done perfectly too with that crisp outer layer and moist mash insides. Pull off the interstate for a taste of small town goodness, you'll be glad you did.

After a long hike at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, me and my friends stumbled upon this hidden gem. We were looking for a burger and this had exactly what we were looking for. The burgers were huge and juicy. The meat was cooked to perfection. We ordered Cajun fries which were seasoned well. I wish we could have dined in to get the full experience. If we are ever in the area, we will definitely be back!

Fantastic burger spot with big, juicy burgers served 40 different ways. Friendly service, right on historic Route 66.

$6 for a shake? nope. Closing at 8 is too early. And heaven forbid the cashier smile.

Polk-A-Dot is one of the few happening places in Braidwood it seems. A long time favorite of the people who live here. The walls are chock full of memorabilia and miscellaneous stuff that was at one time someone else's junk, and became this place's treasures. As expected, ice cream is the main thing to get. It's unfortunate they're always out of lots of items. There's already not a whole lot of variety. A pretty basic looking menu. There's the hot items including the burgers and hot dogs, along with fries and other sides. Basically we came more for the experience. She got one of the cones, which is about $3 or so. Limited flavors. The last time they only had vanilla. It's about $5 to get the fries and slaw combo. Probably about the only thing that isn't meaty. Basically the memorabilia was more interesting. They appropriately have a Grease poster, along with old timey things like jukeboxes on tables. Outside they have figures you can pose with including James Dean, Elvis, and Marilyn Monroe. This is a cool way to have fun for a few minutes or something. Best thing is the experience to be honest. It's located on Front Street by the tracks. This is one of the few ice cream places that's open even in winter.
