We are frequent and loyal customers of Nello's, especially since we live right across the street. Every time we have eaten there, the service has been outstanding. Last night we ventured out, even though we knew it would be busy with it being Valentine's Day. We waited less than 5 minutes to be seated, which was awesome. Although the place was moderately busy, we waited for over 30 minutes for our small thin crust pizza. Even though our patience was wearing thin, our server, Ryan, was so extremely nice. He kept checking in on the kitchen and providing updates to us. Ultimately, we were comped our pizza because of the delay, which we appreciated. Ryan went above and beyond and gave us a wonderful dessert to take home to ensure we still enjoyed our evening. THANK YOU Ryan for providing excellent service! Still an excellent experience! I had not been there in a while, but I was on my way home and decided to stop for take-out. I ordered a house salad with chicken. The large portion easily fed two, the chicken was moist and well seasoned, and the house salad dressing is a Thousand Island-y sort of thing that is really good. Nello's pizza is a fun place to eat with good food. The service has always been top notch and all of their items are of good quality. I do not enjoy ranch dressing, but the praises everyone sings about it on Yelp rings true with my friends I have brought here who do like it. I highly suggest everyone in the area come by Nello's and try the food. For me, it's just not my style. I was referred here by my boss and today was our first visit, oh and we will be back. I had a wonderful side Cesar salad and we split the large thin crust skinny pizza. My husband does not like chain restaurants, he likes family owned and that is what Nello's is!! This is first on my top 3 pizza places in Arizona! Great service, great pizza! I'm a big fan of the Deluxe Combo on wheat crust. We also regularly get pepperoni on thin white crust as well. Nello's has always been a place I love to go with family and friends. It is always good eat and is reasonably priced. Normally that is the most important thing about a restaurant but something else I have always loved about Nello's is its local, non corporate feel to it. There is a lot to say about this restaurant that I think people should know before they come and eat at Nello's. To start, the food is fantastic. There is a lot of options to choose from all the way from sandwiches to pizza to salads and much more. One of the main things I like is they are constantly adding new items for different seasons. The wood fire and deep dish pizza selection is definitely what Nellos is known for but don't be scared to try something else like the delicious beef sandwich or one of their salads like the Greek salad. If you do go with a pizza the wood fire pizzas are my personal favorite and in my opinion are worth the extra money compared to the deep dish pizzas which arn't bad either. If it is your first time dining at Nello's I would recommend doing Pizza the first time since they are know for that but your second time I would definitely recommend exploring the menu a bit because they have a lot of other options that taste great. As for the pricing of Nello's, I've always found it to be pretty fair. The bill is usually pretty cheap especially when you can just order one pizza which can be enough depending on how many people you are with. As I mentioned before, there are two different types of pizza' and the pricing is different. The wood fire pizzas cost more than the deep dish and are only available after 3pm. Other than pizza, There is an entire section on the menu that is for all the sandwiches and panini's Nello's offers which are all under 10 dollars. I usually go with the beef sandwich for 9 dollars and I think this a really good deal because it comes with fries. The bar also has 2 dollar pints of some domestic beers and some other beers that taste delicious if you are a beer drinker. There lots of other great options that are priced well like burgers and salads. Lastly what really brings this great restaurant together is its awesome service and its local restaurant type feel. Nello's has been is the same location for over 20 years. The reason they have stayed in business so long is because they have so many returning customers. A lot of the same people go there all the time which really gives it a local family feel. I have never had a bad server or bad service at this location and most of the people who work there have been there for years. This means that it is really an experienced staff who all know what they are doing. Nello's is really a good and affordable place to eat and I definitely recommend it to anyone. Nello's has been my favorite Restaurant for over two decades. Not just my favorite Pizza House, it is my Number 1 Restaurant, period. You can't beat the House Salad Dressing. When the No-Carb/Low Carb thing hit, we found The Spinach Salad, topped with Turkey and Ham, (with House Dressing of Course) along with twice baked Wings would fill the Bill. The crust seems like it was made after googling "blandest bread dough ever" and over-cooking the first recipe that came up until it was a charred crisp. We ate at Nello's last night and it was bomb! We had the Old World salad with house dressing and the pesto Bianca pizza with sausage. BEST part about the whole thing was our server- Joshua. Ask for him!!! He was on it all night, great recommendations- there exactly when we needed him, told us to get the smaller salad (and we were so glad!) and was just super helpful and chill. He even put an extra container of house dressing in our to-go box when we hadn't asked. Just above and beyond. What an awesome evening. My mother in law wanted to go here for her 73rd birthday. Apparently this was my wife's hangout when she was in high school. We were seated immediately by a friendly hostess with a bright smile. The food was amazing. We had pizza of course, salad with the garlic bread appetizer. This fed 5 people. The pizza was very good. Cooked to perfection and very tasty. The salad, well what can I say, it was salad. The house dressing was also very good. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the bill. A lot less than I expected. I did not catch our servers name. Young guy, hoodie sweater, tall , thin build wearing a baseball cap. He did a great job. Very friendly for sure. Hopefully they figure out who he is and give him the props he deserves. He made sure we were taken care of. Table was always cleared of empty glasses, plates etc....... My glass was never empty, this is a challenge, I like my beer. Seeing my mother in law smile after dinner was all that mattered. My first time here but definitely not our last. Before I get into the food and service, I first want to recognize the amazing humanity and kindness of the Nello's owner and his staff. A few weeks ago, my dad went to pick his order up curbside when his battery died. My dad lives on an Oxygen tank and since he was only taking a short trip, he only brought his small tank. One of the Nello's employees saw my dad struggling outside with his battery and not only did he offer his help but he paid for my dad's battery. Guys, he PAID out of his own pocket despite my dad pleading he did not need to do that. To which the kind gentleman said "You've been coming here for a long time and you're good people, it's my pleasure". That is a level of humanity & kindness that unfortunately you just do not see anymore and we need more of it. Whoever you are Nello's employee, thank you for giving me hope that there ARE good people out there in the world, doing good things and those people should be recognized. You're act of kindness will be paid forward, I promise you that. :) Now to the food and service. My family have been patrons of Nello's (Mesa location) for nearly 2 decades. There is nothing on the menu that is short of delicious! Our go to is the original crust pepperoni with green peppers and jalapeños with a large dinner Salad, add turkey & croutons topped with Nello's house dressing & giardiniera peppers! This location is the reason we stopped dining at Nello's. I have lived in the Valley for 23 years and been patronizing them until about 6 years ago. The last time we ate here, we decided the food had just gone down hill. It wasn't the waitstaff or anything else, the food was just mediocre at best. A couple of months ago we stopped in at the Scottsdale & Shea location; the food was fantastic. We were not sure if it was a fluke, so we visited the same location again. Same great food. Unfortunately, we stopped in at the Alma School location today because it is closer to our home, the food was horrible. I couldn't even finish my sandwich, the meat tasted like it had been sitting in the back, drying out for hours. The food is definitely not the same at this location. I wasn't sure why the food would vary so much, until I overheard the waitress tell another table that each location has different owners. I'm not sure if that is true, but I definitely won't be going back to this location! read more

Went there last night with my son. We wanted to try something new and we were told about this place. My son had wings and fries and I tried the fries and meatball sub. My son loved the wings. The sub was pretty good to. My fries were a bit over cooked but, still good. The only thing I recommend doing is either order a side of sauce for the sub or ask for extra on it. If you are like me and love lots of sauce on a meatball sub.. I definitely recommend trying it. I think our next visit will be a pizza tasting. Lol read more
