The bowls are hefty and full, so they fill you up. if you are going to get full, you might as well get full on goodness of healthy ingredients. The bowls are constructed with care and neatly arranged to make it as delightful to look at as they taste. It is nice that they have signature bowls on the menu for those indecisive, choosy people. But you can freestyle your bowl to customize what ingredients you want as well. The Pitaya base was like a sorbet / ice cream and the chia seed pudding was not slimy or weird, but added a nice parfait texture. They both went well together in the BLUE LAGOON bowl which was overall very refreshing, especially on a warm day. There are 2 sizes of bowls, Regular and Large but the Regular size is 16 ounces! A whole pound of food! So that is plenty for one person. The Large is definitely a shareable size (24 oz). Sharing is caring so you can bring a group here. I can see this place being a hang out, as there is quite a bit of space with tables inside and also a patio area. If you are new to Acai Bowls, you might think it is pricy for 1 portion, but you get what you pay for. You pay almost $10 for a fast food meal that is processed junk. But by spending a little more, at least you are eating healthy and get surprisingly stuffed (with possible leftovers) from the bowls. This place can be good for a morning boost with offerings such as smoothies and toast. Or even come here for dessert, make it a happy ending. There are ice cream sandwiches for purchase. But, why not normalize smoothies and acai bowls for dessert? How you feel is a direct result of what you put into your body. It was kinda bizarre as she barely touched the cutting boards with her towel and the boards were clearly not cleaned at all. She then just disappeared. The one making the smoothie was struggling big time shaking the blender pretty hard the entire time. She was struggling so much to get the smoothie into the cup and I saw her using her hand to get it out. Thank goodness she was wearing gloves but she was touching the blender the whole time! I even asked her to use a spatula but nope. The smoothie was ok, I could taste bits of what I assumed was the graviola. It was extremely filling and 4.5 hours later I'm still full. I like their menu but probably won't return to this location due to the lack of cleaning and sanitizing practices here.

All toppings come at no additional cost which I really liked. I added some collagen, cashews, granola, peanut butter, and bananas. It took about five minutes to come out. The açai base was a little too sweet for me. Also, I thought they were going to blend the collagen powder in, but instead it was layered and so when I stuck my spoon in, I ate a bunch of powder, they should definitely change that approach. Overall, I liked the experience, but I the bowl was not something I would come back for. The price was reasonable, I would come back and try a smoothie. The service was great, everyone was so kind and welcoming.

It was everything I wanted after spin class to cool off and get some good nutrition. Eat your colors, y'all! Playa Bowls started in 2014 as a small sidewalk cart in Belmar, New Jersey, founded by surfers Abby Taylor and Rob Giuliani. With over 400 shops operating across more than 30 states, you can only assume why this place is so well-loved.

What bothered me was the employee working seemed visibly annoyed to even be there--constantly rolling her eyes and acting irritated. The atmosphere was uncomfortable enough that I ended up just leaving without ordering. I really enjoy this place and come here all the time, so I'm hoping this was just an off morning, but the customer service today was definitely disappointing.
