Sous Vide Beef Banh Mi with Pho Dipping Broth
Kimberly P.

After a long morning walk, we were hungry and not in the mood for the standard breakfast choices of oatmeal, eggs, or biscuits and gravy! We came upon the sign saying they had opened at 10:00 a.m.-- just three minutes before our arrival. We were greeted by the sight of what appeared to be freshly baked bread. The smell of lemongrass and ginger permeated the air. We ordered a beef banh mi with the French dipping broth to share, and two San Pellegrino waters. Our total, pre-tip, was $24.00. We sat on the patio overlooking the river and had a truly enjoyable meal. My two minor notes that prevented a 5-star review: the cucumbers and carrots lacked the vinegary, pickled vibrance the sandwich needed, and the bread was a bit more dense than a typical Viet-French baguette, lacking the thin crispy crust we expected. By no means would this prevent us from coming back! Looking forward to trying the pho on our next visit because that dipping broth was absolutely delicious!

Great small place on the boardwalk. Friendly staff and made fresh almost right in front of you. Probably one of the best Pho's I've ever had.

This is $20 bowl of soup cut in half.

Super TINY portions. Ordered a bowl of soup with extra noodles, extra protein totaling $20 and had them divide the soup in half. It barely filled up the small container. The chicken tasted canned. The beef was slightly better. Very disappointed with the quality of the pho.

Tofu banh mi - bread is crunchy outside and soft inside, just spicy enough, and homemade Mayo. Very nice sammie. Customer service is excellent. Pho and banh mi spot.

So good! I ordered the top sirloin banh mi French dip style (with pho broth). The sandwich was one of the best things I've ever eaten! Very high end ingredients.

I love this food! I remember when these two (owners) rolled into town in a VW bus with a a sign that said "Have Soup Will Travel" more than twenty years ago. They rented a tiny little hole in the wall space and started serving some of the best soup I've ever tasted along with incredibly delicious house made rosemary flatbread sandwiches. It didn't take long for them to grow toward a more upscale, sort of fine dining direction. The food, service and ambience were all excellent but it just wasn't the same experience. I know it sounds corny, but it was like the love that was infused into the food they made in those early days somehow got lost in the shuffle. Well fast forward two decades and I'm overjoyed to report the magic of simple food done extremely well is back on the menu! The pho, banh mi, salad rolls and rather large chocolate chip cookie are perfect. Literally. They are in a location that's kind of hard to find but trust me, it's a hidden treasure worth seeking out.

Amazing place. We had vegan sandwich and pho soup. My son had beef soup and gave it 9.7/10. Said it's the best food he's ever had. Staff were very friendly.

Food is amazing! And the employees were so polite and welcoming. We got a banh mi (with a little cup of pho to dip, like a French dip) and some beef pho and it was so delicious. Ate it on the deck with a beautiful view.

The phó beef soup mostly tasted like Thai basil. I was looking for more taste of the broth and others. It wasn't that bad tho.

I had the clams and mussels chowder and halibut cakes that weren't bad but the highlights were the crab dip with the French / Sourdough bread and the Huckleberry Lemonade . They're not even trying to determine if their food and service is acceptable Missteps included: #1) Two different menus were given, one outdated with a special I wanted. Totally forgivable though #2) potatoes in bouillabaisse were so undercooked they were inedible. They made up most of the dish too. On the plus side, the broth and fish were well prepared. See photo #3) onions in the Hungarian mushroom soup were large, crunchy and near raw. #4) a main ingredient in my special salad was completely missing and it was impossible to find my wait person. Thankfully a bus person assisted, went to a manager, then the busser brought the ingredient to the table. #5) very poor timing of dishes brought to the table. Since there were few people dining I find this perplexing #6) we were never ONCE asked how things were, surprising especially since a manager knew of at least one misstep. The food was not awful, but the issues with the food combined with the "I don't care" wait staff and management in a pricy restaurant made it a NEVER AGAIN situation

We had managed to eat seafood at every meal and when I saw that T Paul's Supper Club had a Louie salad on the menu (I'm a sucker for a good Louie) we were in! I'm not totally sure of the vibe they're going for and, to be fair I've only been inside one supper club and it was in Las Vegas, so maybe not a fair comparison. We accidentally walked into the bar section, which seemed like a tiki bar. We were sat in the restaurant, which was decorated with an amateurish mish mosh of seemingly random items. I didn't see a stage, but maybe there was a place for a performer. We were there for lunch. The many is extensive, but also don't seem special. Lots of tiki type drinks and many menu items you'd expect. We ordered the calamari to share, on the recommendation of the server. It was pretty good. We also ordered the Louie Louie to share, which actually isn't on the lunch menu but they kindly agreed to make it for us. I should have been alerted when the server asked what kind of dressing we wanted. She listed several, not including thousand island. I responded, "I think a Louie traditionally has thousand island, do you have that?" She did. The salad had many of the elements, most importantly a good sized amount of lump crab meat. That part was good! The other elements were meh. I would have liked avocado. And I think if you're doing a $30 Louie, you need a special dressing. There were maybe 8 bacon bits. Just not a flavorful Louie. Maybe they do other things well, but I won't be back.

Worker's Tavern offers a full bar along with slot machines. There is an ATM on-site for those who need to take money out to gamble with. Indoors is small but has tables to seat large groups. In the back one will find an outdoor seating area with a dissimilar vibe than the tavern. During our visit, the kitchen staff was about 45 minutes late so we weren't able to order breakfast right away. Once the kitchen staff decided to show up, there were quite a few people ready to order their breakfast which caused disjointed and undercooked meal deliveries. Table service was not offered inside or outside. All transactions are done at the bar. The breakfast menu doesn't list pricing and when I asked about the prices, I was told they change regularly. Shady statement. While waiting for the kitchen staff I sipped on a Bloody Mary for $12 and my wife sipped on a Screwdriver for $6.50. The Bloody Mary seemed a bit overpriced to me. Two people in our group ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and it was still frozen on the inside when served. Worker's Tavern corrected the meals; however, I'm certain the meals were undercooked due to the pressure of the late kitchen staff and the hungry demands of the morning patrons. It is imperative that staff show up at their scheduled shift times. I wanted to try the Cheddar Fritters & Syrup but was told they were out of the item. My wife and I shared the Mushroom Swiss Omelet for $14 + $4.25 up-charge to add sausage to the omelet. We were both happy with our meal choice. Overall, Worker's Tavern has potential; however, that potential was severely during our visit.

The cooks and the drive in person and everyone waiting for a takeout order knows how she feels: She is saying it very loudly. We know how she feels about her sidework (she's not doing it.) we know how she feels about the phones. (She's not answering them.) We also know how she feels about the woman who is opening in the morning. (She doesn't like her) The woman at the front counter does not care that I have never been here before or that I still have 42 minutes before their 9 o clock closing time or that a menu is not readily available- she wants to know what I want to order NOW. I am waiting for a "pizza" as I was rushed into ordering something and am not sure what they have available without the menu she is unwilling to give me. I hope there is pepperoni on it, but I was scared to ask. I am giving this place two stars before even trying the food (not sure I want it if the food mirrors her attitude) because she is terrifying and I am scared what will happen if I only give her one. Hey lady, I get you don't want to be here. Everyone gets you don't want to be here. But chill. And give the sweet young man who brought my pizza to me the 30% tip I gave you on a carry out order.
