I really enjoy a nostalgic old school department store with holiday windows, a gift wrap station, and customers dressed like it's the best day of their week. I do wish this store was in downtown amid a bustling population but...not quite. It's Frontenac, because their clientele don't want to go downtown, or whatever. The store is beautiful. Small but beautiful. The basement (where customer service and online pickup is) is a bit dated. I am an online shopper, almost solely. I like luxury and options of online and I don't need a personal shopper. That said, the associates here are very nice and always helpful without that "from the book" script. Justin, one of the managers, was so accommodating to me on one occasion. The online/store relationship is a mess! The prices are different (one has an item included in friends & family, the other doesn't), order online and pick up in store is a disaster - just have it shipped. My online pickup once took and hour and I ended up buying a floor model in store anyway because of all the confusion. Shipping is free and quick so just ship it. If you are shopping here, the associates all have tablets which do seem to make shopping easier. I do like this store but will not be driving from downtown to visit often when the website is a click away in pajamas with much more selection. Online customer service, however, is terrible while this store's is great. read more

I love my local Neiman Marcus. It's small compared to other cities but it's mine lol.. If they don't have it in-store they are always glad to order and have it delivered to the store or your front door in a New York minute. The Zodiac Restaurant is a hidden jewel on the upper level tucked away in the south west corner of the store (I require everyone I interact with to know directional travels). Anyway, lunch is great, especially the salads. What I adore most about Neiman is the fact that no sale has ever been final for me. I mean yes I do close out my check but whenever I've had an issue regarding repairs (specifically handbags) they send the bags off for repair without a hitch. Keep in mind when doing so, you will likely be without your handbag for several weeks depending on location of the manufacturer. I have had repairs done to Prada bags and it has taken 4-8 weeks each time. Repair fees may vary according to labor. read more

I honestly can't say why I haven't set foot in this store for a good five years -- I used to go there all the time for the superb service and the incredibly well-curated gift department. I've been going out of the way to buy local, but I'd forgotten how smart, kind, and accommodating the staff are at Neiman's. (And really, since the merchandise isn't made in offshore sweatshops, for the most part, I can shop fairly guilt-free.) I happened by after work one evening and was browsing the slight remains of the holiday merchandise when I spotted four of the most beautiful, realistic artificial Christmas trees I've ever seen. All four had "Sold" tags on them. Enter Melanie, the lovely sales professional in gift ware.... As though she could read my mind, she asked "Would you like me to call you if someone has buyer's remorse?" I gave her my number, and the next day I had my tree! I remember now why I used to love shopping at Neiman's -- there is always someone there who can choose the perfect wedding gift after hearing two or three facts about the couple, honestly tell if a dress makes me look like a sausage in a casing (only not in those words), or find just the right shoes for that special event. It's obvious that the staff at Neiman's cares more about happy customers who keep coming back than that one big sale, and I plan to keep going back. Thanks, Melanie!! read more

There was the time the men's shoe sales associated mispronounced "Bottega Veneta" and told me that they don't carry "that item." There was the time that a reptilian sales associate selling a $2500 polyester jumpsuit made in an Eastern European sweatshop refused to help me with a $595 Chiara Boni dress (hand made in Italy) because it "wasn't in [her] section." There was the time that the customer service rep ignored me because the sign on her desk clearly stated that I could visit any sales desk for assistance with return. But apparently not the desk specifically designated for, uh, Customer. Service. Go figure. I could overlook this tragically misdirected ignorant provincial nonsense if poor, sad St. Louis Neiman Marcus had one freaking redeeming quality. But when I called yesterday to ask if a swimwear associate could check on a particular suit for me and was told that they " don't carry swimwear," I officially hit my breaking point. Thank you Angela with your help with the Bugaboo and you Courtney with your tireless quest for Chanel in size 42. The rest of you? Here's a tip, sales department: Get. A. Clue. Stop pretending you're sophisticated enough to be Chicago (let alone NYC) and stop playing the cold-and-aloof sells the garment game. You look and sound dumb. You wouldn't even know genuine Italian craftsmanship if it smacked you in upside your frozen forehead. You're impressing no one with this snarkiness. No one. And Buyers, seriously? Swim wear? You. I am a fan. This comes with the caveat that I can only speak for the men's casual attire section, but my experiences there have been excellent. The store is modest in size, but I have been pleased with the overall selection. I recently purchased a pair of jeans at Neiman's and was assisted by Mary Jo, who was helpful, attentive and friendly. When I needed a pair of shoes for hemming purposes, she helped me find some that worked for me, when I asked about a local tailor closer to my home for alterations unrelated to my purchase (because I'm still new to STL), she offered a good suggestion, etc. When I went back to pick up my jeans a week later, she remembered me on sight despite a drastic haircut (which she complimented). And even though it's probably a required gesture, she sent me a thank you card in the mail. Like I said, probably required, but I LOVE that. It shows she cares about my business and wants me to come back... which I will. Additionally, the other staff was friendly and helpful (without being overeager). This was especially noticeable the day I bought my jeans because I had just walked out of Saks at the other end of the mall empty-handed after standing at one of their registers for an uncomfortably long time with a pair of jeans which nobody apparently wanted to let me try on... Moral: go try Neiman's first. Note: As I understand it, they only take their own Neiman's credit card or American Express (this appears to be a national policy - not just the STL store). This is kind of annoying, but as someone who prefers to use Amex, it also kind of makes up for all the times I hear: "Sorry, we only take Visa." Another tidbit: They do "original hem" on jeans the right way. I'm not sure exactly how they do it -- I think maybe they reattach the hem over the bottom of the jeans instead of trying to connect the two pieces just above the hem. But in any event, it looks better and lasts longer than some of the "original hems" I've had done in other locations, so it's worth the fee. read more

I have had nothing but excellent and non-discriminatory service at this Neiman Marcus. Around summer 2011, I was searching for a wedding dress alternative - I wanted a couture/high end cocktail dress instead because white is NOT my style. I headed to the clearance rack where dresses ranged from 500 + on a hefty discount. I wanted something Old Hollywood style, preferably in a gem tone. I tried on a one-shoulder blue David Meister ball gown in navy - the first dress I tried on! It was stunning and looked great for my petite body type, but I had my heart set on something green ( my fave color). A few weeks later after trying on numerous dresses, I went back to Neiman's to try on the dress one more time. The attentive sweet clerk asked me if I was doing ok and I told her I loved this style, but wish it came in green. My lucky day! She said - well - it did come in green in Winter 2010 - they only had a size 6 left and I needed a 2 or below. The color worked - but not the size. Bless her heart, she spent 45 minutes calling other Neiman Marcuses looking for the dress. I found it and it was like 80% off and JUST $300! In addition, I have shopped here for my jeans for 10+ years and in the trendier/hipper designer area all the staff have been kind. Neiman's is way better than Saks in the St. Louis area. read more

I can only vouch for NM's shoe salon as I have no other interest in their other departments (and frankly I don't have that kind of money). I've had nothing but impeccable service here. If you don't have a sales associate that you usually go to, the others would gladly assist you, Stephanie or John to name a couple. After learning my lesson of buying a pair of used Loubs online (no no no no!) and steering clear of preloved merchandise, I've learned to appreciate the shopping experience and not to mention reeling in the benefits of my hard earned money. Who doesn't want a brand new spankin' pair of heels? Anyway, back go the review. Love it here. I still love my original NM's and probably always will (don't let me down guys!) I forgot to pack a bag for a party and went to the mall here to get one in particular I had seen online. The big store at the opposite end of the mall didn't have it in the color I needed so I came here. And while they didn't have the color I wanted they had my second choice color so BAM! Got my clutch and was good to go - saved! While waiting for the sales person to get me my bag I was lusting after a $5595 purse (for when I win the lottery - duh) and I asked if I could take a selfie with it. I love STL Neimans!!! It's a very small location (for NM anyways) and doesn't have everything that other stores have but it will do. I've been shopping here for so long now....way back when they only accepted american express or cash as a payment. That was long ago! The sales associates here are beyond amazing! Especially the ones in handbags and shoes! I usually purchase some of my handbags and shoes here and SA's have always been so helpful! If they don't have what you're looking for in stock, they will hunt one down for you....after all, they do work on commission! If I never knew they carried Balenciaga and BV at this location. I would of probably never stopped by to shop here! Only downfall is that their selection is very limited especially out on display but if there's something your looking for, don't be afraid to ask....sometimes they have stuff stashed away in the back. Also, their shoe selection is so small...I wish their shoe department was bigger like Saks...for this reason I use to shop at Saks but since their SA and managers there were not honest and followed through I stopped shopping at Saks shoe department. that's another review. As far as upscale department stores go I'm not a fan of Neiman Marcus. I usually go here when my mom is in town since she shops here but the salespeople barely ever give me the time of day. I'm a nurse and new Mom who is too tired to dress up just to go shopping but it's sad to assume I don't have money to spend. The reason why I give them three stars is the customer service in the children's section. The employee working there today was so helpful and nice. She offered me kind words being a new mom and how sweet my three month old daughter was. Good customer service appealing to me as a person and not just concerned with how much I was spending. I bought her outfits from the clearance rack which didn't seem to matter to her. She handed me my bag and told me to cherish every moment with my new baby. If you're someone who enjoys treating yourself to nice things but aren't on a first name basis with the salespeople here I would suggest you head down to Saks for a better shopping experience. read more

Being a Dallas girl, I spent many an hour (and perhaps dollar) at the phenomenal Neiman's at Northpark Mall, as well as the flagship store at Main and Ervay. The Frontenac location is a travesty to the Neiman's brand. The limited selection could be forgiven if it were well-curated, but such is not the case here. Most glaring is the absolutely snotty and cold attitude of the salespeople. Neiman-Marcus is a Texas brand, rooted in Southern graciousness. There is none of the warmth nor pleasure I have always associated with Neiman's here. My recs? Park at the other end of and go to Sak's for actual customer service. read more

Compared to other Neiman Marcus stores, the selection is limited. However, more so than the lack of brands/choices, the staff can be extremely snotty and unhelpful. The shoe department is by far the worst. I recently went in with a pair of shoes that NM sold to me already damaged and was treated extremely poorly (they were Louboutin's so it was obvious that I had not done the damage or worn them at all, as the soles were completely intact). I felt as if I were getting yelled at for even bringing them back. I finally had to interject and tell the woman I was speaking with that I felt she was speaking very inappropriately to me. From that point on she was very nice, but the damage was done. Then, when I went back to pick up the shoes (they sent them out for repair) the dark haired short man who works in the shoe department was so incredibly rude to me, I couldn't believe it was happening again. I asked for a copy of the repair slip (in case something else happened, I wanted proof that the original damage had already been looked at) and he ignored me and handed me my bag. When I asked again, he just looked at me and said "Why?" as if I was making some huge request. I repeated my request, and again was met with "Why do you need a copy?"... You want to know why? Because I said so, that's why. Just put a copy in my bag and stop fighting it. Other than that, I have no other complaints and in terms of the other department stores in St. Louis it is definitely the best, but just brace yourself before you go. Oh also, there is an awesome woman - I am blanking on her name but I will update this review when it comes to me - who works in the Akris Punto area who is so nice and helpful. If you ever need a outfit for an event, just stroll through there and ask for assistance. read more

Lack of products from major brand. Customer Service at the women's clothing department is terrible. I went there several times and had bought clothes for thousands of dollar. But last time I went there the young lady simply ignored me and was not being helpful at all. As if I can't afford the 2 hundred dollars dress. I'm not sure where to start, but for starters they double charged me on my purchase and I had to fight them tooth and nail to get the second charge removed from my bank account. The staff at the store mainly, Tony Garica the store fraud manager was nothing but a lying jerk to me and my wife, who offered no help and was so extremely unprofessional over the phone. GO ELSEWHERE, IF You are looking for a sweet, non-judge-mental sales associate! You have come to the wrong Neiman's!!! Do NOT waste your time or money!!! Especially avoid the older long black haired woman with glasses at the David Yurman jewelry counter!! She will ignore you for as long as she can and then offend you as often as she can get away with. That is until, you pull out some proof of high-end taste. But she will not stop there. Once you get her attention, she will only show you items of higher value and disregard items of less. Coming from a background of high end retail & customer service, Buyer Beware!! I was in Frontenac visiting family and had an Christmas gift from my mother-in-law to exchange. Before even exposing my gift box, I waited 15 minutes for the sale associate to even greet me. (She was alone at the counter the entire time). Once greeted, I explained my visit and that I did not have a gift receipt but the item had a NM purchased sticker on tag. (which has never been a problem in the past). This very rude sales associate asked me several time for a receipt, so much so that I felt accused of theft! Luckily, she then proceeded to call another associate over for review and thank goodness for this (younger, sweet) male associate! He could not have been more kind, only problem was he left after confirming the return and I was stuck again with this nuisance. I then felt pressured to make a purchase without seeing all my requested options. My mother and I left offended, very unhappy, and unwilling to return. Dress the part if you plan on actually wanting some help. I went in looking for a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes six months ago and the shoe staff was so snotty to me. Probably because I was wearing yoga pants, workout clothes and tennis shoes. I ended up buying the shoes online because I didn't want the snotty salesman to get the credit. I went back in there this past week to purchase a new pair of Jimmy Choo's and I was dressed up wearing the Louboutin's I bought online 6 months ago. The service was absolutely outstanding. Although they didn't carry the Jimmy Choo line, which really surprised me. So I *settled* for a pair of Prada's. :) Although I think everything in their store is outrageously priced, I love looking at all of the labels and I'm obviously a fan of them. read more
