I started coming here after great reviews from coworkers and now I can't recommend them enough! Their selection is good for Keen work boots (my go-to brand) with several of the nicer styles available. I find places like Chucks Boots with tons of choices very overwhelming so this was a nice change. But where they blow the competition away is their customer service and their guarantee. The owner and his wife are very friendly and knowledgeable about their products and will make sure they send you home with boots that fit your needs. They also condition leather boots free of charge with any purchase and they do minor fixes and cobbling. Just once though, I bought a pair of more expensive Keen boots and after wearing them for a few weeks, they were really making my feet sore so I took them back. Not only did they let me pick out a different pair, they also gave me money back since the pair I got was cheaper. This is great customer service! I was just hoping for a discount on another pair so they really went above and beyond. If I went to Chucks Boots, they would never take back any pair of boots if they were as dirty as mine were. I came here to get some new work boots for a new job where I would be working on a concrete floor on my feet for 10 hours a day. Variety of issues with my feet, and I knew that this was just the place to go to get the personalized service I would require. I live and work in the area so I would drive by all the time, and when I saw the sign "work boot sale" I was drawn in. I regret that I don't remember the names of the people working there. There was a lady working as a cashier and a nice gentleman that fitted me. he knew just as much about feet as a podiatrist, from what I could see. he said he also specializes in orthopedics. none of my complaints, from a bunion to weak ankles to plantar fasciitis fazed him at all. he listens to me carefully and picked the perfect shoe on the first try. this is evidently a family owned local business and not Walmart, so I did not expect it to be cheap, and you shouldn't either. He selected for me some shoe inserts for my plantar for situs, and also suggested wigwam, socks, which I have never tried before because I come from a hot climate where thick socks don't really make sense, but I really like them and then I saw people wearing them on a survival show! "they are made in Wisconsin," He told me. I am very happy with my purchase and I know that these shoes will last a long time and it's nice to be able to return to the place where I bought them if I need any kind of repairs or service! They seem like the kind of place where they know each and every customer and are committed to taking care of them for life! This place came to my rescue, so I'm a fan. I had visited several shoe stores looking for shoelaces to replace a pair in one of my favorite work shoes. None of them had the type I needed. How can a shoe store sell you a shoe with laces and not have the replacement laces when you need them? Finally a sales clerk at one of the stores I visited referred me to Hampton Shoe Repair. (That was excellent customer service.) What a shock, the store is in my neighborhood and I never thought of going there. I was pleased with the selection of laces, and they had the exact one I needed for my shoes. I was also amazed at the selection of work boots. I don't need the boots for work, but they look great with jeans and flannel when you are going for that outdoorsy look. Took my heels, aged 12, for a makeover. I was reluctant to go here because Hampton Shoe seems to specialize in work boots. But I desperately needed new bottoms and new insoles. I forget the total cost. I think it was about $65, which seemed nicely low to me. They were ready on time. They had cheap plastic bottoms before and now they have rubber. Wow a full service shoe store where they even measure your foot! Brought back childhood memories. I needed work boots and on the recommendation of a friend I stopped in. I was greeted immediately and asked if I'd excuse the wait but they are with another customer. I browsed about keeping an eye on how they treat their customers and immediately knew I was going to be given full, competent, product-informed treatment and if I was going to need a half hour of service they would give me a half hour of service. And not just because I was about to spend a hundred dollars on one pair of shoes. I have a few foot issues that needed to be accommodated. The clerk listened patiently and went straight for a pair of Carolinas that fit the bill almost perfectly. After I tried out a couple sizes they had in stock, inserts, and also an alternate brand it turned out I needed a half-size that she put on order. A week later I came back to try them on and they were great. All they needed was slipperier laces. I wanted to wear them home but she told me to only wear them around the house for a few days in case I needed to come back and switch them out for another size/brand. Every year, I wear my favorite summer heals to death and every Spring I take them to Hampton Shoe Repair to have new heals and bottoms put on. They come back looking almost new and so much more comfy than a new pair @ only $12 a pair. Love it. They are busy, so expect to wait two weeks for your shoes. P.S. They recently moved to a storefront nearby (still on Hampton, other side of the street). Bigger store, much nicer. I love this place...mostly because they resurrected a pair of my Jeffrey Campbell shoes which had broken straps so I couldn't really wear them (slingback platform wedges) for only $12. They fixed the broken strap on one pair and reinforced the others. Sooo nice. Now I can wear my favorite shoes again! Also they sell a wide variety of leather goods like belts and some good quality made in the USA hiking boots. I would definitely come back here with shoe repairs. Been looking for a SOLID neighborhood shoe repair business since leaving Detroit 2 years ago where I had MANY to choose from and StL experience has been the opposite--until Hampton Shoe Repair! Went in with a banged-up 10+ year old pair of casual work shoes that had good 'bones' & worth saving but no one else wanted to work on them (four other shops around StL). So, $28 later for new heels, laces, & free polish I had a completely rejunvenated pair of shoes ready for many more years of wear. On top of that, when I dropped off the shoes for repair I just happened to have some discretionary cash and they had a close-out on a pair of 6" Chippewa moc-toe work boots that are excellent (!) quality boots AND American-made. These aren't cheap department store or mall boots or prices BUT the quality is exceptional, price was competitive with online and I got to try them on before buying (no exchange merry-go-round). Oh, yeah, HSR will help me maintain the boot for low / no cost--polish, treatment, laces, etc. OK, 1/2 star lost for the amount of time it took for the heel repair--4 weeks (as stated when I dropped them off). So, plan ahead and be patient--it was WORTH the wait ! read more

This is my go-to place for my shoe repairs and I've always been pleased with the results. They are very professional, the place is well maintained and spacious. I usually go for heel cap and it runs about $15 per pair. Sole replacement is a little more but I can't remember how much now. I think the prices are very fair. My only wish is that the turn around was a little quicker, I usually have to wait over 30 days to get my shoes back but the job is so perfectly executed that the wait is well worth it. They give you a call when your shoe is ready and they have never exceeded the promised deadline. Kudos for the professionalism!! read more

I had a pretty weak experience at Hampton Shoe. I took a pair of nearly new Carhartt boots up there to get some new eyelets. The boots are great with the exception that they have junk cloth eyelets (if you are considering buying a pair of boots with cloth eyelets, don't). I took them up to Hampton Shoe because they had some pretty decent reviews online. It took about 4 weeks to finally get my boots back after they told me it would be two weeks. That's an awful turnaround time for what is a pretty simple job. I know you want to generally have a FIFO policy on repairs, but that is a long time on a pretty simple job. So i get the boots back and notice the hardware they used for the eyelets looked exceedingly cheap. The first eyelet broke in about an hour. I took them back down and they fixed them back up. The same eyelet broke in about 10 minutes of wear. I can't recommend this place for any serious repairs anymore. If you can't use good hardware on your repairs, I can't trust you to do any serious work. read more

They did get them back to me before the time they told me it would be, though. The dropoff and pickup was super simple and easy. I recently purchased a pair of work boots from Hampton Shoe Repair that were not only American-made but made locally in Belleville. Who knew?!? The staff was more than helpful, friendly, and have an ample selection to choose from regardless of what line of work you're in. I have specific criteria for my line of work and sure enough they had several selections to choose from as well as being cost effective. That always a plus! The Belleville-made boot I purchased is super lightweight, has a rugged sole, and feels like a tennis shoe. Very rare for a work boot IMO. I've only had them a few days but I'm more than happy with them. I also didn't know they sold New Balance and dress shoes but they do. All American-made as well. It's nice to know this so one doesn't have to go into the big stores, wander around looking for both shoes and an employee who *might* know where they're at. Hampton Shoe even takes a measurement of your feet AND have widths in shoes/boots which is also rare. Their website is easy to follow along, someone always answers the phone during business hours, and they seem to be very busy with the shoe repair aspect of the business which means this place is doing something right. They didn't actually repair shoes for me, so I can't comment on that.... However, they did repair a snap button on my new pair of jeans. I started out at a drycleaner where I was told they don't do snap buttons. Then I went to an alterations shop, where they also told me they don't do snap buttons. They suggested that I go up the street to the shoe repair shop. Although it sounded odd, I was getting desperate, so I decided to give it a try. They were able to put a new snap button on my jeans in less than 10 min for only $5! Hopefully I won't ever have this problem again, but, if I do, I know where I'll be going! read more
