My weekly reviews throughout the Coachella Valley

I've known of this place way before Mrs.DeLeon bought it. It's an amazing entertainment experience when you go there. The staff and management team provide great customer service and the food is delicious. Restrooms are clean and neat. I highly recommend this place

Three of us ate lunch here for the first time. Our first impression walking in was wow, this place is dark! Bartender was super friendly and said "give it a few minutes and you'll be fine". He then said we're known for our burgers but we have a quarter rack of ribs for lunch today. We all had different types of burgers and they were all delicious. They ranged in price from $13-$15 with fries or rings $3. The bar scene was all locals bellyed up having drinks and a good time. We got there by 11:30 and were out by 12:45. The inside was definitely set up for karaoke or a band as there is a DJ booth and dance floor. It appears to be a great place to hang out with some friends and enjoy a cold one.

Josh (not Neil) the bartender was an absolute 100/10. We were visiting and he gave us an empty bottle of casa azul after hearing me talk about it!

Karaoke night ar 9.00pm and the place is packed. Pro tip u can park next door at Midas Shop DO NOT PARK AT CIRCLE K YOUR CAR WILL GET TOWED

The burgers are off the charts good!

Great dive bar! They are ranked #52 in the country. Now, why I go there. The service. The bartenders, jos5h, Eddie and Manny are always there to greet you with a smile and a cold beverage. Drinks are strong, cheap and fast. I play the juke box Everytime. This is a cheers bar through and through. Everyone says hi when you come in. Ok, the food. The cockybull has some of the best food in town. They have daily specials. Thursday is 2 massive delicious burgers and fries for $15. Friday is fish and chips with steak fries for under $20. We split this and can barely finish it. Ok now the best .. fried chicken in Saturday. 4 pieces, coleslaw, mashed potatoes and gravy with desert for around $20. Oh and breakfast on Sundays only. I had chicken fried steak covered in sausage gravy, 2 eggs, bacon and hash browns. Delicious.

Hubby's Hideaway and he hangs here with other interesting characters...Friendly, fun and affordable.

Had a going away party here a few weeks ago for a coworker- Josh and his crew made everything easy and budget friendly. The ambiance speaks for itself. The service is fast and friendly. The food was so much better than anticipated!!!! Great place to spend with friends!

The visuals immediately capture you as you walk in, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the start. The service staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, and the drinks made by the bartender were excellent. The food did not disappoint either. We started with the garlic parmesan wings, which were incredibly flavorful and a great way to begin the meal. Next, we had the Caesar salad and the BBQ chicken pizza. The Caesar salad portion was huge, easily enough for two people and probably even enough to share among four. The BBQ chicken pizza was absolutely delicious and a standout dish for us. I want to give a special shout-out to Carlos and the food runner working tonight. He was very friendly and made a point to check on us as he passed by to make sure everything was good. In my opinion, that kind of attentiveness is what separates average service from seasoned food and beverage professionals. For dessert, we ordered the churros, which had an amazing filling that instantly hooked us. Our 3- and 5-year-old also enjoyed their kids' meals, and the fact that each kids' meal includes a sundae was a great touch. We can't wait to return, this is definitely a spot worth trying

Since I'm not much of a gambler, I figured why not walk in and donate my yearly $20 to the slot machines Parking was super easy right up front, and they also have a garage that leads directly into the casino. The front door security guard was really friendly too, he laughed when I told him, "I'm just here to give away my $20, I'll see you in 2 seconds." And honestly... I wasn't lying I put my $20 in, lost it immediately, and was back out in about .2 seconds. That said, it was still a fun little experience. The casino itself felt clean, quaint, and easy to navigate. Definitely a nice stop if you want to stretch your legs, play a little for fun, and get back on the road. Just maybe keep it to a small amount... at least that's my strategy Stop in for the stretch but leave your wallet and purse in the car and only take in an amount you won't cry over if you lose.

1 star A "Kitchen…read moreFee" on Drinks. Then They Played Dumb. Let me save you the time and the mystery charges. The service was bad. The ambience was worse. And then came the bill. The Tack Room slapped a 2% "kitchen fee" on our entire tab -- which was almost entirely drinks, plus a whopping $14 of food. When I questioned it, our waitress pulled the classic move: wide eyes, "I don't even know what that is," and blamed it on the kitchen. The kitchen. For drinks. Here's the thing -- you work there. That fee doesn't materialize out of thin air. Either you know about it and you're deflecting, or management is hiding charges from their own staff so customers get surprised at checkout. Neither one is a good look. A kitchen fee implies a kitchen was heavily involved in your experience. Ours wasn't. We were essentially charged a surcharge for the existence of a room we barely used. No accountability. No transparency. No reason to go back. The Tack Room managed to make a bad night worse with a sneaky line item and a server who suddenly had amnesia when it was time to explain it. Skip it. There are plenty of places that will take your money honestly.

LOCATION: In Old Town La Quinta, OTLQ easy to find, tons of parking but at times it gets busy so you may have to walk a bit. FACILITY: very traditional inside and out, clean, and lots of space between tables. MENU: rather massive, we usually order the same things so all the other options makes my head hurt so we just go with what we know. FOOD PREP: excellent, always looks the same which is a good things. FOOD QUALITY: some of the best in the valley. LIBATIONS: lots of choices and not too expensive, wish they had a locals city of LQ discount like some of the other options in OTLQ.. WAITSTAFF: very nice, everyone. OVERALL VALUE: if you order the right things, it is a great value but you can go nuts and spend a lot, tourist dollars spend well, upselling happens for those who want it and deserve it! TIP: Sitting outside is great most all year, we don't go out when it is crazy hot, but have dined outside in 100+ temps, we prefer the front outdoor space.

*Mi Casa es Su Casa*…read more My buddy had a small casual bday get-together with his family and invited me to join the celebration. I saw all the favorable reviews on Yelp and was looking forward to my first visit at Casa Mendoza. Very chill & lively family owned Mexican joint in Old Town LQ. The place was kinda busy @6:30pm on Hump Night ~~ always a great sign when I see this. Felt more like a Sunday Evening. It took an hour to receive our meals. Ordered @6:45 arrived @7:45pm. Good thing the Chimichanga & Gauc apps arrived pretty quickly. The Gauc was Excellente. All their food was very good. But all our meals arrived cold/lukewarm. Took forever to receive our food and we knew for a fact it's because all our plates sat a while until we were served. The actual plates weren't even warm and the sizzling fajitas had sizzled out and lost its dazzle. Because it was still 95 degrees when dinner was finally served, our lukewarm meals were doable on a hot night. Everyone did enjoy their meals tho. I was very pleased with my Mahi Mahi in Garlic Butter Sauce. The refried beans were outstanding. The rice very good...and I made tacos with the 3 corn tortillas. But would have enjoyed it even more had all the food been a little warmer. I stuck with H2O but all margarita drinkers said their drinks were good and hit the spot on a warm night. The service in general was also inconsistent for our small party of 8. The Birthday Boy was a little frustrated and got up a few times from his throne seeking assistance -- such as missing tortillas for meals, water refills, extra napkins. We even had to wait longer than anticipated for them to acknowledge the bday boy with a celebratory bday song & sombrero...and the fried ice cream, which didn't include a candle. Tho we all enjoyed ourselves and time together...a 2 hour dinner at a Mexican joint on a Wednesday night wasn't what we anticipated. Especially with one restless 7 year old ;-) But everyone working at Casa Mendoza is very friendly with great attitudes. Hostess team, waiters, servers & runners too. So that made up for the spotty service, just a little bit. Since I'm closer to the other Casa Mendoza in Palm Desert, I'd go there in the future with my wife, and order the exact same thing. But hope for much better service and warmer food.

We ordered the fish and chips and onion rings, which they're clearly known for. The batter is the star here. Light, crispy, and flavorful. The fish and chips were excellent, but the onion rings? Next level. They use the same batter for the onion rings, and wow. We watched someone order two full bags to go, which seemed wild... until we got ours. We only ordered a half order and it was still massive. Even better, after sitting there for 30 minutes, the onion rings were still crunchy. That almost never happens. So good. We ended up staying longer to watch a football game and ordered the pretzel bites. These are fried, which gives them a great texture, and the cheese sauce has a nice little kick to it -- slightly spicy, in a good way. The space itself is bright, inviting, and fun. Great vibes, great service, and clearly a spot people like to hang out. We'll definitely be back to watch football games. Only downside: people smoke right in front of the building, so when the door opens, the smell drifts inside. Not a dealbreaker, but noticeable. Overall, really liked this place. Our server never properly greeted us and incorrectly assumed we didn't need a cocktail menu because I brought a bottle of wine (I'm a certified sommelier working in fine dining). We did want cocktails--and unfortunately, when they arrived, they were rancid and undrinkable. No one checked on them. My wine was poured into a glass that smelled like dirty socks. When I asked for a clean glass, the request was met with visible annoyance. Despite paying a significant corkage fee, service deteriorated to the point where I was pouring my own wine. We were aggressively rushed to order--asked roughly five times within four minutes. The steak tartare was not fresh, overwhelmingly mustard-forward, and poorly balanced. The Caesar salad was fine, but unremarkable. The pork chop, recommended medium, arrived in about five minutes and was badly overcooked, dry, and inedible. After waiting over 10 minutes for a check-in, we were told the kitchen had already closed and were offered a box instead. We asked for the dish to be removed from the bill. This felt like another case of younger guests being treated dismissively. Having spent years in fine dining, this was a deeply disappointing and frankly embarrassing hospitality experience. Ambiance alone cannot make up for poor service and careless execution.
