Today my friend and I came in for a gel manicure and acrylic set. While we were waiting, a customer from last night came in to get a nail fixed that had broken after she left the previous night. The manager quickly recognized the woman when she came in and asked to take a picture of her nails in order to show the other technicians; the customer was clearly unsatisfied with her service despite the manager accommodating her request. This woman then proceeded to loudly and obnoxiously criticize the salon manager and the technician. According this woman, the technician apparently failed to make her nails even, failed to give her the proper amount of coats, failed to spend the "proper amount of time on cuticles," and blamed her nail breaking on the technician. My friend and I actually saw this woman's nails and they looked fabulous, we have no idea where this attack came from. The woman tried to ask for her money back for the manicure, however, the manager correctly pointed out that her broken nail was not the technicians fault and she was not entitled to a refund because she was unhappy with the service. The salon manager handled the situation well. When she left we were not expecting her to leave a tip, but she approached the manager and continued her rant then had the nerve to leave two dollars in quarters which just felt like a slap in the face to the technician who has done both my nails and my friends nails very well before. This woman was embarrassing and told the manager "if she can't handle criticism, she shouldn't have a Yelp account," and that "she could have done a better job herself." I am posting this review because I completely disagree. I do not believe that the purpose of Yelp is to single handedly destroy small businesses. A nail salon is like anything else: they provide a service, and they will do their best, but just because you are paying for a service does not give you the right to demand perfection. If you think you can do a better job and you feel the need to make a public exhibition in order to shame a business, then please save yourself the embarassment and the $21 (plus $2 tip in quarters).

Also, this was more expensive than the other places I usually go. Very disappointed, usually my nails can last 3-4 weeks but this clearly wont.

I found Nails From The Heart on Yelp and called for an appointment. She was booked for the day but had a 9:00 a.m. appointment today which I took. She did an excellent job on my French manicure. I didn't want gel because my nails are long, thick and healthy. She asked me about the length and i told her I liked the length, she didn't take any off, she actually listened to me. I had previously been a smoker so my nails were discolored, she buffed them all out and I now have nice white nails to go with my healthy lungs. She did a beautiful freelance painting of the French manicure and I left there very happy. She is so personable and kind. I can't wait to go back for my pedicure. Instead of using Apres Gel-X, she used regular soft tips with a glue from a tube that became squishy and gel-like. A lot of the glue seeped out from under the extensions, which was a bit bothersome. Some of the tips also don't fully cover my nails, causing my hair to get caught under the corners. My first time getting this service was with Honey and she was fantastic, so I was really hoping for the same quality while on vacation, especially for the price. Unfortunately, it didn't quite meet those expectations. I wish more care had been taken to size the nails properly and use the standard Apres Gel-X method.
