At first I was a little bummed (and confused why they wouldn't want to squeeze it in for more money--but respect the appointment aspect)... until I realized half of the "basic" service was spent in glorious hot stone massage and lotion massage treatment. Honestly? It was so relaxing, I might not bother upgrading next time. There were no drink offers--alcoholic or otherwise--which was a slight letdown since some salons offer that little extra touch. But I brought my water and a book, and once I settled in, it was smooth sailing. Overall, Havy delivered a solid experience with top-notch cleanliness and a great atmosphere. It seems the gel topcoat that she put on (which is different based on salons) is all peeling off. She did not properly shape the dip, so there is areas where it is connected to my skin and going to be a big gap/catch on things when it grows out. Also, this was more expensive than the other places I usually go. Very disappointed, usually my nails can last 3-4 weeks but this clearly wont.

Well . . …read more My first visit to the new Ambrosia location was after moving back to the area a few months ago, and my short bob needed a cut. Loved the easy-peasy online booking and since I wasn't anyone's client yet, I just scheduled by who was available. The front desk reception is delightful - welcoming and helpful. I liked the low key atmosphere, no hard sell on retail products, and the location with plenty of parking. I did not like being taken to the shampoo chair before taking my jacket off, and leaving it on the floor with my bag, getting dripped on. Anyway, that first cut was a good length - but - each side was styled different from the other. One side had feathery layers, the other side was a straight cut bob. It was cleverly blended, and I didn't see the difference until I washed and tried to style it myself. Live & learn, everyone is new and has to learn, right? So the next time, I made an appointment with a different stylist. It was going well from the first - I dropped my bag off at the chair, explained what I was looking for (please fix the sides so they're the same , or as close as they can be), and what I didn't want (please don't follow the cut I have, it's not done as I requested) and even had pictures of my hair cut correctly in days gone by. We were so much in agreement, it seemed all too easy! Of course, a day later after I washed and blew it dry myself, I somehow now had feathery bits on the opposite side and a close-to-straight bob on what was the original feathery side. So disappointing. Three tries is usually my limit when going to a new stylist, but I have to give up at this point and just grow both sides out out and keep bringing my hair pictures with me, looking for a stylist. Instead of using Apres Gel-X, she used regular soft tips with a glue from a tube that became squishy and gel-like. A lot of the glue seeped out from under the extensions, which was a bit bothersome. Some of the tips also don't fully cover my nails, causing my hair to get caught under the corners. My first time getting this service was with Honey and she was fantastic, so I was really hoping for the same quality while on vacation, especially for the price. Unfortunately, it didn't quite meet those expectations. I wish more care had been taken to size the nails properly and use the standard Apres Gel-X method.
