As I walked around I noticed a shade that I wanted to purchase and the older lady in the store was rude and very dismissive letting me know that I should bring the lamp in for a good fit (she may have been the owner). While I wouldn't mind doing that whatsoever, the attitude behind her message was less than stellar, like she couldn't be bothered with my meager lampshade business. She did offer some advice on fit, but that did not compensate for her terrible attitude toward me especially after she told me the lampshade was over $200 dollars, using a condescending voice as if I couldn't afford it. I walked away feeling like I had imposed on her, reassuring myself that it was nothing I did to constitute being treated that way.

Of course, I did my due diligence by shopping around all the tile stores in the area (Roma Tile, Tile Showcase, United Tile, etc etc). Mickey matched my prices and worked directly with my contractor to arrange pickup and delivery. I cannot recommend HomeTrends based on my recent experience…read more I scheduled an in-home appointment to have 12 windows measured. No one showed up, and I was left waiting at home with no apparent notice that the appointment would not be kept. I contacted HomeTrends afterward and expressed my frustration about the missed appointment and the time I had wasted. I was initially told they would arrange for someone else to come out. Instead, the owner subsequently told me that it would be better for me to take my business to another blinds company and that they no longer wanted to work with me. That response surprised me. A missed appointment can happen. What mattered more to me was how the company handled it afterward. Rather than apologizing, taking responsibility, and trying to make things right, their solution was essentially to tell the customer to go elsewhere. There are plenty of companies selling and installing window treatments. Based on my experience, I would choose one that is more reliable, respects its customers' time, and makes customers feel that their business is valued. BTW, they did tell me if I wrote a negative review that "I was a bad person". Well, this review is only intended to give you, the consumer, an insight to my experience. I am not sure that constitutes me as being a "bad" person, but again maybe insight to how HomeTrends perceives upset customers verse working out an amendable solution.

While we are more hands on and can be detail-orientated, when we walked into Porcelanosa, we found everything we wanted for the new bathroom in one visit. That was largely due to Kelly Bara, who graciously led us through the choices & decisions. It helps that Kelly has a great sense of style but also that she knows how to not just deal with people, but she seems to enjoy working with customers, and she made the process very enjoyable. The amazing thing that Kelly did was that she was able to give us both a little of what we wanted, melded our style preferences into one design, which is not easy to do. We might not have been able to do it on our own. My wife & I have different & definite style preferences that can be hard to overcome. Of course it also greatly helped that Porcelanosa has some very nice product choices, too. We are not demanding but Kelly answered every email query with patiences and kindness . . . Kelly is an asset to Porcelanosa. Though we do not have any future projects, I will be recommending her and Porcelanosa to my friends and acquaintances.

Two weeks ago, to my utter despair, the little bugger shocked me; intervention was required. Enter Appleton Antique Lighting. It's a bit small, and Route 9 is a bit crazy, so keep your eyes peeled. The gent going through bills off to the side was a bit brusque, but the lady at the register was very sweet. They quoted an *extremely* reasonable price for the fix. They said it might take two weeks, but they got it done in one. And my lamp is back to its healthy, non-shocking ways. Go there. And bring your poor, your tired, your huddled lamps, yearning to be fixed.

Finally it dawned on me that there's people out there who fix these things - I took it to Appleton, and the rest is history. They are incredibly nice there, and while they said it would take a few days to fix, it turned out they were able to sneak it in between larger projects and the lamp got repaired by the next day. Not bad! Basically, I would say that they were very knowledgeable, extremely welcoming and affable people with excellent customer service, and as far as I can tell, they charged a reasonable price. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again as they certainly have earned a repeat customer (just hoping that I won't have any more broken lamps, haha).
