I have been visiting this place for more than 9 years and have enjoyed the food all these years. It seems though they are less focused on customer as prices have gone up and customer service has gone down. They offer samosa box but you cannot order it online or by calling them. You need to drive, order and wait till they make it. For sure this attached banner does not apply for all items and for sure the image at store is not right. Came in again for dinner over the weekend and my opinion doesn't change. Neehee's still the best vegetarian Indian street food in SE Michigan. My friend and I split two orders: The masala dosa wrap sandwich (my usual when I come here) and the idly/vada platter. I had never gotten their idly or vada, but I twas very pleased with how they made it. Eating idly and vada with sambar is a very nostalgic thing for me and reminds me of weekend breakfasts/brunch at home with family! No meal is complete without mango lassis. I think it's best to dive in & order. I had a lot of good but it was all amazing. Samosa Ragda & their Spring special. It got crowded around 12:30pm on a Monday. And it's very crowded in the weekend. I saw lots of dosas being ordered. They have a sugarcane drink but ran out of it. No traditional Indian dishes but no need for it. Lots of vegan & gluten free option, too. The environment feels a bit "fast food", chairs are uncomfortable, but overall a fun place to get fun, good Indian food. It is a great place for groups after a night at the bar! Liked this spot! Anybody that knows me knows I love street foods and this place is doing the most. Maybe too much. I usually say when a spot has too much on the menu it's a good sign they're not gonna be very good at making any of it, this place was an exception. Everything was pretty good. I literally stood there for 5 minutes aghast at the size of the menu. Eventually I had to just start rattling off items. Got pani puri that came with spicy tamarind and minty cilantro (lime?) juices. Bomb. Like drinking a mouthful of savory mint water. Also got vada pav which was my favorite here, so many flavors going on, chutney was on point. For sure getting that again here. By the time i got around to the idli chaat i was already full but from what i tasted it was bomb as well. Had a plain lassi which i won't comment on seeing as its virtually impossible to mess up. There aren't any places I know of in this area that make these kinds of Indian foods, definitely a place to return to, plus so many different things to eat here, was kind of disappointed they weren't serving any pav bhaji at the time but hopefully next time! I'm not gonna lie and say it was the best ive had, and the prices were a bit steep for what it was, but the people here are super nice and they do have good food, go get some! read more

Being from Bombay in India, I definitely relate to this style of food more than many people around. Do try the vada pav, and Indo-chinese here - really authentic. My first time eating here I was a little nervous because I didn't know what to order but Yelp recommended it when I was looking for gluten free options in the area. I've tried Indian food before that was back when I could eat any and everything so now I'm a little more skeptical of what I eat because of my allergies but upon arrival the staff greeted me and made me feel more comfortable with ordering, then second guessing myself asking for assistance with ordering based off the vibe. The atmosphere is very pleasant. When I was time for me to place my order I let her know I had a gluten allergy and a vegan preference asked her what did she recommend? She recommended the Mix Vegetable Pakoda and the Onion Pakoda. Which was delicious. They came with two sauce and they were both delicious. It was a little spicy so if spicy food bothers you I wouldn't recommend these two dish. She also recommended Vada Sambhar which my kids loved so much I didn't get to try it. I'm not sure what's more shocking: the low prices, the variety of Indian food, the generous portion sizes, or the fact that everything is vegetarian! The photos of the food they have displayed on their menu do not represent the actual size of what you get and it's so great how much you get for the price you pay. As someone who is allergic to peanuts, I also appreciate how the menu is clearly labeled with whether something has nuts as well as other food labels such as vegan-friendly, gluten-free, etc. The person who rang up my food order was friendly and also confirmed that what I ordered did not have peanuts. read more

Neehee's doesn't taste as good as it used to. Portions are small, food is expensive, and I once got a very questionable-tasting kachori. Being a chaat place, I feel they should eliminate the South Indian offerings like dosas and instead focus exclusively on chaat (the actual South Indian places in the metro Detroit area are mostly not much better though). I invite the owners of Neehee's to fly down to Austin TX, so that I can buy them some chaat at the local places here to show them how much better they are at lower prices. read more

Based on my most recent experience with their food I am being generous with four stars. We ordered food to take away. We live about 30 minutes away so it's bit of a drive. The way they packaged the food to go, items like khasta kachori and chaats were entirely soggy by the time we brought them home. Other chaat places we have gotten take out from package all the components of the dish separately for at-home assembly so as to avoid the soggy texture. I don't know if they're trying to save on packaging but they really ought to be doing that. I believe they are open for dine in now but we aren't ready to dine in just yet since COVID. But our previous dine in experiences pre-pandemic were good. The food tasted good, not the best SA street food I've had (see Surati Farsan in SoCal for that) but solid. We usually order the kastha kachori, Delhi chaat, pani puri, chutney Vada pav amongst others. The pani puri is okay, flavors of its chutneys lack that zing I know and love PP for. Overall, good enough chaat to hold me over until I'm able to get to South Asia, TO, LA, or Chicago! Edited to add: looking at their website just now I'm seeing that they do charge a dollar extra per certain dishes to package separately. Somehow I missed that last time. So if you're ordering 5 dishes, it's $5 extra for separate packaging. I guess that's fair but from what I've seen at other chaat places they don't want to risk the soggy chaat, separate packaging is default. This was quite an experience. There's a ton of options and they're helpful with suggestions and patient if you have no idea where to start or can't make up your mind. I really liked the huge interactive menu when you walk in along with the animated menu behind the front counter. The restuarant has a massive amount of space and all the seating is new with a cool wooden design and finish. Honestly I really liked the little logo too. You can tell the owners reall invested in making this place awesome. As for the food, it was excellent with lots of flavor. We got the mixed vegetable fritters; Papdi chaat and finally the mysore masala dosa. All great! Can't wait to go back and try more. read more

I came here for pickup for the first time: aloo paratha. The restaurant was really busy but the lady at the register was very nice. She explained my pick up order will take 10 mins or May a few more. The restaurant has a lot of dishes, most of which were unfamiliar to me. It consists on Indian "street food". The aloo paratha was a more expensive dish. I don't think it's ordered as frequently as the other dishes, which are also much cheaper. The paratha came with a big cup of yogurt, achar, and some butter. It was amazing! I wish there were two paratha for the price ($8.99) but that's fine. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area to try their famous chaats. read more

I'm obsessed! Fresh and so flavorful! When I tasted the soup that comes with the mini thali platter, I literally said wow out loud to myself. I don't know what it is but it's brown in color and has peanuts in it. Along with so many amazing flavors and spices. And the mini thali is $7 at lunch time! Big open space, cafeteria style and very clean. Also has ice cream which I have yet to try but looks really good. This was a really nice surprise. My parents and I were driving around running errands and they had told me about this place. We stopped in for a quick bite. The food here is so delicious and it's all vegetarian! I had a Dosa sandwich which was phenomenal. It was a good rendition of the classic dosa and way easier to eat. We also got paneer bits, the Aloo tikka burger, and one of the kachuris. You can also ask them to modify based on spice level. I came here several times. Each time was a good experience and got exactly what I came here for: delicious food! Neehee's is the place for street food. They have so many options and is 100% vegetarian. The place is really clean and well kept. Well staffed as well. Kitchen is well kept. And you can see from the counter how pani puri is made. The staff was friendly and got my orders correctly. It can be busy sometimes if you come during prime times or during the weekend. There can be a long line but it would be moving fast so no worry, you'll get your food quickly for that 30-minute lunch break Parking is easy. There is ample parking in the plaza. This place is located in the plaza so parking has never been an issue for me. The price is decent in my opinion. I grew up in California and frequented Little India in Artesia for good Indian food and I gotta tell you that the quality is worth the cost. I'm something of a newbie when it comes to Indian cuisine, so ordering some of the things people posted on Yelp seemed like a good place to start. We started with the Pani Puri, and was surprised that the puffs and filling were served cold. Didn't expect that. It wasn't bad, but I don't think I would order it again. I ordered some samosas because I'm pretty familiar with them. I just didn't like these. They had some sort of green vegetable as a filling, which wasn't the more potato-based filling I was expecting. The Butter Garlic Roast Masala Dhosa was a fantastic surprise. My husband and I absolutely loved it. The heat and spices were perfect, and the potato filling was so flavorful. I would definitely order this again. We got the Chili Orange Potato dish. The Chinese flavors were a welcome change from all the Indian spice. We would order this again. All of this was far more food than my husband and I could eat for lunch. It was fun to order lots of new things. Even though I was full, I wanted to try some of the homemade ice cream, and I was glad that I did. I tried the ginger, and my husband got the pistachio. So much goodness! We are visiting from rural VA where there is nothing but North Indian restaurants for as far as the eye can see. This Place was everything my poor heart had been wishing for. The Pani Puri? Heaven. Pure, unadulterated heaven. That's all. Other than you should get it. If you don't know what Pani Puri is, its little puffed, fried, crispy bread, you poke a hole in the top, fill it with goodness and eat whole. Yum. The Manchuria Orange Chili Potato was delicious. If it had been fried paneer, I would have sworn I was back in Pune India. My husband had the Chole Bhatura, which I ate from his plate whenever he pretended to look away, was so tasty and perfectly spiced. The bhatura was NOT oily which was an unexpected blessing. We love this place and will visit again while we're visiting. I only wish we had this in Charlottesville Virginia (hint hint wink wink). read more

First off I want to dispel a rumor that I do not like spicy food...actually Neehee's does not make it spicy enough in my opinion. I may have to push them to bring it up a notch heat wise next time. I met Rodger here for a midday nosh. Bringing Rodger is an excellent idea as he picked what is now my fave item on the menu, Gobi 65. Gobi 65 is a nicely crisp cauliflower in a peppery red sauce. If it had been a bit hotter spice wise I think I would have had no qualms about sticking my fork in Rodger's hand and completely swiping it from him, as it was I just picked at it in a semi ladylike fashion with much the same result. The only downside (or maybe its an upside?) of the Gobi 65 is that Rodger informed me about the carnivore counterpart, chicken 65. Now I need to try that too. Neehee's has been great motivation to expand my Indian horizons which desperately need broadening. If I could only get James to eat it with me. Rodger also ordered some samosas which were crispy and quite nice with the peppery green sauce but not as much my thing. I got filled up too much by stealing his addictive cauliflower to be honest. I got the mini uttapam platter. My faves were the jalapeno and pineapple and the dry nut ones. The dry nut had a great pistachio flavor. All were decent though if a bit overpriced in my opinion. The mango lassi once again was thick and delicious. We chatted the owner a bit who was telling us about some ambitious plans for the future that sound fun and promising. That was cool. I love a chatty owner. The downside of the visit and the only reason I am deducting a star at all was that Rodger and I both noticed a bit of an offputting odor that was vaguely bathroomish that detracted a bit from the overall experience. Hopefully this is a one off misstep. The food was still four star in my opinion. Update week of March 15th: Went back and got a to go which was nicely packed up. No bad smells at all. My friend and I feasted on aloo tiki, gobi 65 (I did share I swear) and chole bhature. Tasty. I have secondhand from the owner what went on during my last visit and I am convinced it was a one time error. Back up to four stars. read more
