i walked in ordered a rootbeer from the bar and was intending to order a pie. mins later when i was about to order the bartender Got me confused with someone else and accused me of walking out w/o a pizza from a pervious night. i was called a thief. horrible service. i walked out. but before i did. i made sure he removed the rootbeer i ordered but never touched. then he said im kicked out for life. told me to never come back. zoeys, rubys, zandos and tomasos make better pizza anyways. clowns. need pizza needs help. the sad thing is i went to highschool with the owner and i was trying to support a local business. if only i could give a negitive star read more

Stopped by for lunch and had an amazing '14 pizza and brought some home. Exceptional service. Love this place!

We were in town visiting and stopped here for pizza with our kids. Ping pong and TVs and kid friendly. Pizza was amazing! They even accommodated our need for Gluten-Free. Service was great. read more

I was disappointed, First I had to ask for a glass for my 1 beer. I asked about crust choices, I said We prefer a soft thin crust. The innattive bartender- server said he would recommend the thin. When the pizza arrived, the crust was like burned shoe leather. We were hungry and in a hurry so we struggled through half of it.When we told and showed the server what we had he said, you should have ordered the soft bake.I will take 2 dollars off. DUH. Nice place I hope they don't stay on the track of "were busy so we don't care read more

Went to Need with a friend the other night. To start it's downtown Cedar Rapids which we can all agree means good luck finding parking! That wasn't what bugged me however. When we were seated it took a good 10 minutes for our waitress to greet us. She seemed very distracted by other things and not very attentive to us, right up until it came time for us to pay. We saw her every 5 minutes while she waited on the check! Other than that she would walk by us and avoid eye contact, in fact she got my order wrong and didn't really seem to care. I can understand how she didn't hear one of my ingredients as the music and TVs are so loud! My friend and I had to yell across the table at one another to hear each other. The pizza was ok but nothing I would go out of my way to order again. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, its not worth the time or money. read more

The pizza was amazing, even the next day. It was within walking distance from my hotel, too, for more bonus points. Great beer selection, & my waitress was excellent. If I'm ever in Cedar Rapids again, I'll definitely go back. read more

Great pizza, great atmosphere and great for large groups. The beer list is lengthy and includes a lot of local brews. There's a pizza for everyone as they are all customizable. The pizzas are GINORMOUS and I highly recommend mashed potatoes on yours! The cheesy bread is less to be desired (very, very greasy) but everything else makes up for it. read more

We spent an evening here with 5 of our teenage sons. Four of them each ordered their own pizzas and they were huge! The boys said they were delicious. Two of us ordered their salad with kale and pumpkin seeds. It was fabulous. Then they enjoyed the ping pong table for more fun. It was such a relaxing and refreshing evening. We will definitely be back. The server was also very engaging and helpful. read more

Had an excellent experience today at NP. The pizza is excellent. Their service is worthy of 5 stars. I've been their about 6 times. They have awesome salads and a good beer selection. read more

Good:- toppings and overall taste of the pizza is good. Best pizza overall in Cedar rapids Bad overall two stars are for the overall experience - there drink menu is listed as sodas as a bad health person that means don't even look at it/ I don't drink soda as a rule in restaurants. So I asked the server for non-soda options and immediately got turn off cause first thing out of his mouth was alcohol(another nono for me) got specific and it was obvious server didn't know the drink menu. Anyone knows pizza and water is a sucky combination. So receive the Pizza if your not a crust eater perfect pizza received a burnt crust pizza first bite was charcoal after that you get after that you get the taste of your toppings which won me over. Will go back with hopes of a non burnt pizza . Asked about the 8 dollar cheese cake we were told enough for two people so we got it a small slice of cheese cake enough for one person when you can go to a grocery store spend 11- 15 dollars for a full good tasting cheese cake. Cheese cake sucked. read more

Amazing pizza! Our kids love eating here! They like to draw on the chalkboards. I recommend any of the daily specials. So far there hasn't been one we don't like! Great beer selection as well! read more

The pizza is fantastic! Crust was thin and just the right blend of chew and crispness. They have some very interesting toppings and combinations on their specialty menu, as well as a rotating specialty pizza every day. Make sure you ask the server about the "secret" menu of pizzas not listed on the menu. Try the BLT pizza or white pizza with clam and mashed potato (whhhaaaaat??!!). It tastes like clam chowder on a pizza! read more

All good and not because it is reasonably priced! The product is fresh, staff are great and the place knows it's reason to be there. Pizzas are done perfectly, beverages are prices right and you have a wonderful selection for both. Place is busy, so it takes some time but never too long that you feel that they forgot your pie. Great place! read more

Over-rated. If you like over-cooked, sauce-less, cheese-less pizza with skimpy toppings then this is the place for you.

i love this pizza, like really love! Best pizza place around period! FINALLY there's a truly GREAT pizza joint! Thanks guys!!

The appetizer was the only redeeming quality, went downhill from there. When our pizza finally arrived it was burnt. But the worst surprise was the bill. My husband had 2 beers. $10 each! The menu did not have beer prices, but $10! Outrageous. Will never go back!!! read more

The pizza is SO good and I love the variety of things you can put on it. Mashed Potatoes on pizza is awesome!

Service was excellent even with a group of 12, but the house wine was $10 per glass which is pretty steep for a pizza place.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this pizza!! Almost weekly my husband and I have date night here. Never disappointed! Crust is perfectly crispy and light, toppings are fresh and just the right amount of sauce and cheese. My husband always enjoys the beer as well! read more

The pizza is great with interesting daily specials for a variety outside of the norm. Great beer selection. The staff have always been friendly. read more

ordered the cheese bread sticks and the special of the night pizza a chicken jerk with pineapple and it was all amazing ! I know good pizza and I will be back ! to me the pop was a bit pricey at around $2.50 but who cares the pizza alone was the size of the entire table ! read more

They've done great revamping a space that used to be a drug store/retail incubator. Tons of TVs available for watching football at the bar. The individual pizza is huge and delicious. I was in shortly after open on a Sunday and stayed for about an hour, it got progressively busier but the service was prompt and friendly. A reasonably priced dining option for downtown on a Sunday afternoon, which has been rare. They've hit paydirt on filling that "Need". read more

Pizza was great at dinner time. Pizza was even better at 2am when the bars close downtown. More places need to stay open late on the weekends like Need Pizza. read more

Great place, great pizza, service was amazing and if you have children they have a lot of things for them to do while waiting!

The service pretty much sucks. I was overcharged for my house salad. I failed to notice that she had left off the drinks. I pointed out the price of the salad and she said she would have the manager look at it. Lo and behold, she came back with the adjustment, but my bill was higher because she somehow remembered the pops I had. That's okay, I should have been charged for them. But.... she should have skipped it and not charged me. She ran my card and didn't bother to tell me about it and I finally figured it out. That is NOT cool. She also barely checked on us and we had to catch her to get the check. It's not like she was busy, we saw her walking around and chatting doing nothing. If you want a better pizza, go to Ruby's around the corner! Oh and since she screwed me on the bill, she got ZIP FOR A TIP!! I hope she figured it out. Since she added the extra $5 she lost out on the tip. Won't go back ever again. read more

We went for the first time tonight to try what everyone has been talking about and I was sad at our experience. Decent Crowd and the food was prompt in getting to us!! I do like the decor and atmosphere of the place. These were the only positives. We started off with kale and artichoke spinach dip for $10. It was a small cup of Luke warm dip served with crumbs of tortilla chips. Not impressed. We ordered our pizza, a medium red, with sausage, onion, shrooms, green peppers with black olives on half. The pizza came out with no green peppers and was burnt pretty bad... When we were done our waitress came over and asked if we wanted a box. We said sure and she had our check waiting. I paid with cash and we waited for ten minutes for her to come back to the table the to go box and to get our bill. She never showed back up so we got up and left our cash on the table. Had high hopes for this place, but no such luck. read more
