We chose Need for Build for our kitchen and bathroom remodel for two reasons: They came highly recommended on Nextdoor, and their price was the lowest out of the three estimates we received. Overall, our experience was positive and earned them five stars, mostly due to the quality of the subcontractors that completed the work. All of them were not only highly professional craftsmen and women, but quality people as well. They were respectful of our home; were easy to work with, even when plans changed; and cleaned up every day. The result was a beautiful transformation of our home. Our experience with our project manager and assistant manager was equally positive. We had daily communication via text with one or both of them about what was happening each day. The project manager paid attention to every detail, kept the project on track, and managed the schedule and costs. The assistant manager worked hard to make sure all materials were on site when they were needed, down to the smallest detail. We enjoyed working with both of them, and developed an honest relationship and open communication that served us well, especially when things didn't go as we had planned. There were only two areas of our project that were very challenging. The first difficulty was working with NFB's partner company, Reece, which is where we were told to go to order all appliances and fixtures. It took weeks to get quotes; and then out of the 8 appliances we ordered, 5 of them were either damaged in shipment or missing parts. Our cooktop took 5 visits from the repair company (each a week to ten days apart to get new parts) to get it operating, which ironically made it the last item to be completed but the one we needed the most. We had the same experience when trying to order all the fixtures. In fact, we became so frustrated with trying to get a quote, that we gave up and ordered everything ourselves online. The second difficulty happened on day ONE of meeting our project manager for a "free" estimate. After 3-1/2 hours, he told us he was ready to discuss our "contract", and then said that the owner's policy was "same day discounted price," meaning that we were expected to sign the contract right then in order to receive a 15% discount (which was significant). No chance to review it, talk about it, ask questions, etc. We felt so pressured and disrespected; and it took months to establish trust and a working relationship - not a great start to our project. We would recommend Need For Build to family and friends for the quality of work from the subs and management; but "buyer beware" of the unknown company policies established by the owner. read more

Overall very happy! We've been putting off this job for 5+ years because of the cost. A lot of it was structural issues that we needed to fix. Deck literally falling apart, needed new retaining wall, drains, concrete support etc. so it was a huge cost job for not the most exciting updates. Andrew was our Project Manager and can't recommend him enough. Every single step of the way he was communicative to a fault. Barak his #2 was awesome as well. Had some great workers in Chris, Mikey, Mario and more. We have more work and if we do go back I will insist Andrew runs our job 100%. The main thing that I liked about him was that he kept budget as low as he could by finding areas where we could save. Saying things like "you could make that area under the deck look nicer but no one will ever see it so I'd recommend you save the money." A few other examples like that which kept budget in line. He also fixed a few small things real quick that he didn't have to. I believe they price match, but you could probably go to someone with a smaller crew or not as many licenses or man power if you want and piece it up and save some money. The thing I liked the most was that they had a ton of guys who all seemed happy and to know each other and go the extra mile. Also I liked that their cost was their cost. We had another contractor say "this is what I think it will cost but we'll have to see as we go". I get it but for us personally that was a no go. I don't love their first day deal sales pitch, but what I would recommend you do is get another quote or two and then go to Need for Build last. Especially if you are in poway, but even if not they have all of the awards and success for a reason. I'm sure we'll be back to them down the line, thx again Andrew! read more

Need for Build is Top Notch!! If you're going to get some landscaping done these guys are the way to go. They're expensive, but rightfully so. Their price equates to the quality and general reliability of the company. I worked with Doron so I can speak to his abilities as my backyard landscaping project manager. A+++ in communication and delivery of the results. Doron was personable, and made developing the project and execution of the project so much easier. You can rest easy knowing that the people the company uses for jobs have their backgrounds checked, and that once assigned are dedicated until completion. A project that I need the Need for Build, Inc is for the leaking Sprinkler piping under the driveway. When I called for initial assessment of the project, I was immediately schedule for an appointment and a day later, a fellow name Matija Vlaho showed up and did a comprehensive evaluation of the project, from digging a portion of the driveway up to completion of the project and each process was explained to us thoroughly. On the next day, the Need for Build crews for the project started to work. I had a few changes I wanted to make after the Statement of Work was agreed to, Val and Matt put the changes into motion without any fuss or second thought. They were definitely a pleasure to work with. I always expect some hiccups with contractors, we had none with Need For Build which was a pleasant surprise. Huge respect for their workers too. It reached at least 100° a couple of the days and they still finished the job a day early. They are probably not the cheapest, but then we were willing to pay a bit more for the peace of mind for the 15-20 year warranty. And them being licensed and bonded gave us protection as well. After a long research I've decided to do my front and back yard with need for build, I'm so proud of myself for choosing right. Those guys are just amazing, you can see they enjoy what they do. Every day I came back from work another progress was done, and although it's an outdoor project they still kept everything clean and organized. Need Ceiling Insulation? We would recommend Need for Build construction company and their representative, Avi (858) 859-0669 for their knowledge and skills showed while they completed our project. They are licensed, bonded and insured. They covered the walls and floors from the front door to the attic crawl space. They removed and hauled out the old insulation, vacuumed the entire attic, boxed in the ceiling pot-lights, checked for and plugged holes where critters could pass through, sprayed disinfectant, and lastly covered the entire area with new insulation. They did this all in one day So far, we are really pleased. read more

Asked them for a quote to replace a broken window pane. One of the owners of the company came out promptly. Very nice man, looked at the job and said it's not something his company does, but asked if I wanted my entire bathroom re-done or if we needed new flooring. Said his minimum job was $2500. Told him I wasn't in the market for those services. He said one of his sub contractors would call about the window. Never did get a call (not the companies fault). It seems they are well reviewed for large jobs, but felt like a waste of time having him come out to look at a job they had no interest in doing. read more
