What a great theater! I saw All Out through the lottery and won mezzanine tickets. I've never sat mezzanine and we were row D so I was excited to see. The view was fabulous. The mezzanine was definitely steep but you had a great view from no matter where you were. Just be mindful the seat depth and leg room is minimal. For a 5'6 and also pregnant it was doable for this shorter show but I think for someone taller and maybe a longer show, you may be stiff. They have more bathrooms on the second floor than the first just an FYI. It's a nice small theater! read more

Went to see Schmigadoon! at the Nederlander theater. The security line moved swiftly despite the staff giving conflicting instructions. The staff inside were very helpful with finding seats. Won broadway lottery and landed tickets to see this show. Would I go see it again, probably not but I do see the effort behind the writing of the play. It's almost like having the right sense of humor for a show like the Office.. quirky and some dry humor moments and sometimes a little all over the place. The band, however, gets five stars because wow, the vocals the music the energy honestly if the play didn't have the monologues, the music and concert itself would've been enough still maybe this wasn't the right match for me and it could be for someone else.. read more

This theater has been around for a long time. It has two floors and is located near the port authority. The way it was built the bathroom lines usually are long and you have to wait on the staircase when crowded as the line turns and goes up them. There is a small concession stand in the middle of the two bathroom areas. Usually two people are working it at the same time. The staff that work here are nice and helpful. Sound and lighting and the theater experience is wonderful here. read more

This is the review for the current production of Take a banana for the ride. I made it my mission to watch "Take a banana for the ride", a one-man show performed by comedian Jeff Ross. In this 90 minute segment, Jeff chronicled his life from birth until now--including a series of loss, death, and grief along the way. His comical mannerism is portrayed through a series of hilarious songs, especially one called "DFWTJ". This show is currently in previews and will run for 8 weeks at the Nederlander Theater. My ticket was the 2nd row center Mezzanine in seat 108. Believe it or not, it was actually an amazing seat! The Nederlander seems to be smaller than the other theaters I've been to, giving it a homey vibe. To end the night, every attendee was given a banana to take "for the ride". read more

The Venue: Typical vintage Broadway theatre with cramped hard seating, awkward layout. No bathrooms on the first floor - and just a few on the second/third - to accommodate 1,200+ patrons (when fully booked). I saw "Tommy" during a heat wave and the airflow/cooling was woefully adequate; in fact the elderly gentleman sitting next to me had breathing issues causing he and his wife to leave at intermission. A real shame, especially considering what orchestra level seats cost. The Performance: This latest revival of The Who's brilliant rock opera was a mixed bag at best. I love the album and saw the original production 30 yrs ago; IMO this chaotic, emotionally hollow version just couldn't compare. The acting and vocals were generally good, although some performers were better than others at singing on key. (Kudos to Alison Luff's performance of Mrs. Walker!). However, too much was occuring simultaneously on the small stage - e.g. one actor singing, another actor being dragged away by a group of dystopian masked robots and/or being thrown into the air for no apparent reason, with WWII videos playing on the back wall. And I was disappointed by the lack of a real pinball machine on the set this time - after all what were those "crazy flipper fingers" for anyway? Guess it's true that you can't go home again. Doubtful return to the tired Nederlander for any future productions either. read more

The Nederlander Theater is a typical Broadway theater. There's stairs to the landing with the bar and restrooms. Then stairs to the mezzanine and stairs up and down to our seats up in the nosebleed section. Exiting is the same path going down. The legroom is non existent! What makes up for all this in my eyes is the view of the stage. It was unobstructed. I'd return for another show and I suggest you go see Shucked if you enjoy a funny musical. read more

Having watched so many Broadway shows in NYC and at home, this was actually my first time inside Nederlander Theatre. I've also walked by many times but never had a chance to watch something live as Theater District is fairly big. I knew I'd be in town, looked up what shows scheduled this one day. There were only a few musicals that caught my attention. I didn't wanna repeat any of the musicals that was on that night as l've already watched them before. But Shucked I thought would be interesting and since it was an award winning show, it was finally the perfect chance to check this off my bucket list I didn't purchase my ticket in advance, instead I went over right when the box office opened at 10am. Thought I'd first check out Rush Tickets if available. By the time I had head down after breakfast, there were only 3 rush tickets available, one pair and one single ticket. By the time I got there, all 3 rush tickets were sold! No problem, as you still have an opportunity to purchase best seats at best price from the box office. I had a price point in mind, didn't want to sit on the balcony or mezzanine, yet I wanted the best view on Orchestra for that evening. Nederlander Theatre is way bigger than I thought it would be. By far one the bigger theatre's in NYC compared to the small more cozy venue's in and around theater district. Restroom and concession stand were found upstairs. Security when entering just like any theatre with metal detectors and they do request to open up your bags upon entering. read more

This review is for the venue itself, not for the show I saw there (Redwoods). The theater is small and even the row in the very back has a somewhat good view of the stage. The reason for that? The rows on the mezzanine level barely have any legroom. I am what most people would consider a short person with short-ish legs and even then I was feeling cramped. There is less legroom here than an airplane seat in economy. There seems to be slightly more space downstairs in the orchestra section. read more

I've seen a few shows here. The orchestra section is small but the mezzanine (2nd) level has a good amount of seating and still decent views. The restrooms are small and cause long lines. Staff is a bit too firm at giving orders which is irritating. The stage is small and the audio isn't sufficient; it's far too low. Seats are narrow but comfy. read more

Went to go see Shucked and it was amazingggg and so funny! The Nederlander Theatre was nice and very efficient. When we first arrived the line was sooooooooo long. Once doors were open they got through the line in about 5 minutes. Staff was friendly. My only note was the seats were pretty tight and the incline wasn't steep enough. There was a little girl behind us that had a tough time seeing. Look forward to coming back and seeing another show. read more

The rudest theater in New York. This theater is small, cramped, has thin walls, and has the worst customer service I have ever seen. We were trying to book tickets for Schmigadoon. When a women yelled at my family to get in the right line. A little bit rude but we took it. We go up to the ticket counter and it turns out we bought a ticket for the next day. the guy at the counter was helpful and tried to help is out to get it refunded. But while I was doing that, I got yelled at buy an worker who told me my voice was too deep to be talking as loud as I was. Keep in mind I was whispering so after that happened twice I simply asked him how I'm supposed to talk to the guy working tickets if I can't speak and he just went up to the counter and said can you hear me to the ticket person. Hw said yes and then the employee looked at me and said "There, not so hard". This was just one ezample of the terribl, incompetent, and rude service at this theater. I later asked what the employees name was, it was a bald man with a slight shave, I was told it was Fred (though I think there were lying) so if you see Fred watch out. Would have given a 0 but the guy who refunded our tickets was pretty chill. Don't go to this theater read more

Glad to finally make it back to the theatre. The first time I've been to this theatre and the size is on the smaller side. The staff really make lines move efficiently to make sure the crowd keeps moving. The bathroom lines were the quickest I've seen. The seating is on the tighter side probably because the size of the theatre. The acoustics were very good during the performance from the actors to the live orchestra. It was an enjoyable experience and I wouldn't mind going back to see another musical or play in the future. read more

Saw the Broadway show "Shucked!" Here and although the show was very entertaining, this was not my favorite of Broadway theatres I've been in. The concession and bathroom lines are placed in the most awkward locations. The concession lines are constantly causing jams and people to have to move and the bathroom lines go down the stairs and around the building. Big tip: go before the show because intermission the lines are nuts. Kudos to the drink menu however - very clever from those in charge. Additionally, the singing and the band were great but the volume of the ensemble during big numbers were often drowned out the the band making it hard to understand the lyrics. Overall, an OK theatre but the show was 8/10. read more

Show: 1.5 stars Actor, Jefferson Mays 5 stars The bathroom 5 stars Came to see A Christmas Carol. This is a one-man show. The show is the classic story narrated by the actor, Jefferson Mays. The actor acts out all the characters and changes his voice while narrating each different character. Not gonna lie, did not love the show. This is also spoken entirely in British English which I had trouble understanding alot of. The multiple character conversation is hard to follow since it is spoken by the same actor with just very subtle changes to voice/demeanor etc. With this said, Jefferson Mays did an amazing performance and I don't think there are many actors that can pull off this show format. In the midst of the show, I visited the women's bathroom and I was completely shocked at what I saw. It had like 25 stalls! ... Which is unheard of in any Broadway theatre or general Manhattan venue. Actors are extremely talented and the music draws you in. I was worried that not knowing the history behind this show would be a problem, but it totally wasn't--the plot is independent of any previous stories, so you can relax and enjoy! Mr. Saturday night was good play I love how it had that vintage feel and it was about the career of an aging comedian. The only thing I didn't like was there was a little bit too much profanity used. Kind of overkill on the cursing. After the show Billy Crystal was gracious enough to sign everyone's playbill posters or tickets. He is a germ Afobe because of Covid so if you wanted anything signed you had to wear a mask and the first two rows also had to wear masks. read more

We had a great time watching A Christmas Carol at this theater. It was a one-man's show. How did Jefferson Mays memorize everything? He wrote it! That's why. Anyway, we had a mezzanine seat. Getting to the seat was pretty steep. We went up to the section entrance and down to the seats. The seats are small, and there's no legroom at all. My recent flights had more legroom. Today's movie theaters offer larger and more comfortable seats. Good thing the show was short with no intermission. The sound system was good, the stage decoration was amazing, and the performance was terrific! Regardless of the tiny seat, we enjoyed the show. read more

Opened in 1921, the theatre has a seating capacity of 1,232. Houdini preformed on this stage. Typical of older Broadway theatres, the restrooms tend to be tight with long lines. I sat in the next to last row (Row O) in the center mezzanine, which has an odd quirk as there is a row behind it only accessible by moving through the my row, which actually gave me leg room as there was no seat to my left so patrons could access that back row. My sightline of the stage from way up top was fine. read more

Lucky to see the great Billy Crystal in Mr. Saturday Night at the historic Nederlander Theater. Opened in 1921, as the National Theater seated 1200 people. This Broadway theater, located in Midtown NYC has been host to so many shows. Mr. Saturday Night was adapted from the 1992 film. This musical comedy made me laugh and towards the end made me cry. I waited outside afterwards and Billy Crystal signed my playbill and I took a few photos. read more

Came for "Mr. Saturday Night" starring Billy Crystal, which was excellent. Quick screening for security, women's restroom upstairs line moves fast and with the help of an usher directing traffic. We sat in the left orchestra section and the acoustics and views were great. They have a snack and drinks bar and you are allowed to eat/drink during the show, but currently (in July 2022) need to keep masks up while not actively eating or drinking and they have an active "police" shining flashlights at folks to enforce it. The theater itself isn't overly beautiful, but it is comfortable. read more

This is the worst theater I have been to in Broadway. The seats are so narrow it really doesn't have any leg room. My leg and feet hurts after the show. There's also no place for people to pass through, so there's a lot of disturbance during the show while people need to go to restroom. And also the seats are so close each row, if someone lean forward or if they are tall will block a lot of your view. So your bet will be to have a good decent attendee in front of you. I had a tall person kept moving around so it ruins the show for me. read more

I love the originality of this intimate theatre. It's not so small that you can't maneuver your way to the bathrooms or bars, in fact it's several levels with great views of the stage from any seat in the house. Helpful staff to show us to our seats and generous pours from the bartenders made our Pretty Woman night a fun and memorable one. read more

We watched the play Pretty Woman in this theater. The show is okay but this review is for the theater itself. Although we were seated close to the stage, I found the sitting area cramped. Being seated on the left side area, I got body cramped trying to twist my body more to the right. What make it worst, the person in front if is a tall that I had to move or lean my head more to the right as well. My view was totally compromised of the seating layout. For the entire show, it was an uncomfortable seating for me. You'll find this interesting - Line to the women's restroom was long enough ( from the comfort room to the corridor down the stairs to the 1st ground floor) with a request of leaning to the right to give room for others who wants to use the stairs. Perhaps who went last definitely used up all her 15 minutes break time. The staff was trying to alleviate the stress of each Parton in missing out the beginning of the second part by making good hearted comments to all. The show was pretty nice, the theater was just as uncomfortable as any other Broadway theater, no leg space, to many seats to shimmy through when people are sitting to get to your seat, etc. Drinks and snacks are super expensive like all other theaters. Not worth it. Eat before you get here because you aren't allowed to bring food in. Also, DO NOT get the box seats thinking they are special. Again, this goes for any broadway theater, those seats suck and so much of your view will be obstructed. read more

Let me preface this by saying I have worked in theater for 40 years. The theater is gorgeous. Staff on the other hand..... We had difficulties pulling up our tickets. Staff member told us to go to will call with our confirmation number. Will call acted like he had no idea what we were talking about, then the security guard kept telling us to move but there wasn't anywhere to go (we couldn't move forwards without tickets and entryway was packed). Finally another guard realized I was having a panic attack and opened the door. We managed to open the app- the nice young man let us back in, but we weren't sure where to go and once again we were yelled at for blocking the way. Here's a novel idea (one we've used for decades) - treat theater guests as GUESTS. read more
