Beautiful venue on Broadway! There are quite a few sets of stairs but once you get past that you're able to enjoy it. The bathrooms are clean. The service from everyone working was kind and helpful.
The Longacre is a stunning, historical theater. The interior is a designated New York landmark. It is very regal and with its gold interior. We saw Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York. Our seats were first row balcony and the leg room was non-existent and our view was obstructed by the railing. I would have appreciated if this was noted during the purchase process. Many people moved to last row for a better view. Sound was excellent. There are two bathrooms and each have multiple stalls, but the one in the lower level is much bigger.
The service was very good and the seats weren't too cramped. Of course, you pick a theatre by the show playing there, but Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York is a great show. I recommend it and the theatre.
Theater: 4/5 | Musical: 4.5/5 What a cute show!! I've been seeing so many ads for it and I'm so glad I ended up watching it. It follows a British man who's visiting nyc for his dad's wedding and a native New Yorker who takes him around the sights of the city. Turns out, her sister is getting married to his dad! There's a surprising twist and the ending is bittersweet. We sat in the last row of MEZZ, but still had a great time! On our night, they gave everyone fortune cookies at the end, which was a nice treat that tied into a bit of the musical. Minimalist set, but they get creative and make the most of it, which goes unnoticed. The songs are super catchy and makes one prideful to live in a great city like nyc :') Highly recommend!!
The Longacre Theatre is stunning. Walking into the theater to see Two Strangers and being seated so close to the stage, I was in awe. Before I even got comfortable in my seat, I had to stand and take it all in. I could sense the deep history that is still being written within the theater. It's breathtaking. Surprising, the seat I had was in Orchestra B105 and it was comfortable and my knees didn't touch the back of the seat in front of me. I have always been fascinated by the theaters on Broadway, and I can definitely add the Longacre Theatre to the list.
I recently saw Dead Outlaw here. Though the production was fun and entertaining, the seating arrangements were questionable. This is a pretty large venue and with additional sections above the orchestra, Mezzanine and Balcony, you could very well end up sky high. I personally like Orchestra seating although if the seats aren't on an incline, you could very well be watching the show between two moving heads (my experience at Good Night and Good Luck). Our seats at this theater were Row G left side Orchestra with minimal stage obstruction. Buying seats for Broadway shows can sometimes be a crap shoot. Although you may know what you're getting when looking at the floor plan, you just never know how well you'll be able to view the stage. The production is nominated for several Tony Awards. I am enamored with Broadway that I tend to overlook some of the minuses due to seating, etc.
Nice theater. I saw "Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York" at this theater and I was sitting in the mezzanine area. I was able to see the stage and the actors well. It felt like a cozier theater from where I was sitting, although it was a theater of moderate sizing. I like the seating of this theater and would return.
I'm super blessed and fortunate to be able to watch Broadway Plays & Musical Shows in NYC. So far this 2024, I've been able to see three shows and the Playbills keeps piling up! This past Wednesday night, I just watched Lempicka. But before flying out to NYC, I checked out Telecharge's website for Lottery & Rush tickets and bid for 14 different showings during the evening hour. Luckily I won a bid for 1 of out 14 shows! Lucky me, I got it for only $35 plus taxes! My seat turned out to be Center Orchestra Row P. Longacre Theatre is right in the middle of Times Squarel Theatre District. Coincidently it's a 3 blocks away from my hotel. Heightened security is present as well as NYPD patrols the streets to keep the general public safe and secure. You'll also find the concession stand downstairs, restrooms on both ends, and keep in mind that seats are very narrow and space is limited for your belongings which you can bring in. Coat Room is also available during winter season too.
Lempicha was a masterpiece of a perfect combination of incredible talent, soul stirring music, and engaging plot. Not a show for younger audiences. One 15 minute intermission. Show Runs two hours and 40 minutes with the intermission. Highly recommend! View from balcony C 1 and C 3 is a bit obstructed by the railings, so I'd recommend avoiding isle seats for all balcony and mezzanine, as they all have railings that will make you crane your neck to see some parts of the performance. Theater gets cold, so bring a jacket.
Theater right in the middle of Broadway on 48th. Went to see Lempicka, show about the history and story of artist Tamara Lempicka. Her paintings represent the art deco era in Paris during the 20s. The show was good, music and story were both good. However we had a huge issue. The show started 30 mins late, supposed to be a 8pm show however we didn't get seated until 30 mins later. Show was already 2.5 hours, so we didn't get out until past 11pm! The theater is a small one, seats were tight, couldn't tell what was worse. This seat or that of an airline economy seat. Both packed like sardines. Theater was definitely a bit tired, with sad looking carpets and seats. Overall show was good, theater could use a face lift.
We got Rush tickets for the excellent Avett Brothers Swept Away & were blown away by how great the sound was-so crisp and clear! The seats we got were considered partially obstructed but the play took place mainly in the center stage area & considering we thought we were going to miss it altogether before it went off Broadway, we felt super lucky to have gotten in on this last minute adventure! What a spectacular place to see a show! Spectacular acting & music, too! So glad to have seen this one here! Pro tip-if you need to duck out of the rain nearby, the pub next door (Hurleys!) has a very spacious bar & super clean bathrooms!

The Longacre has 1,077 seats and is operated by The Shubert Organization. Both the façade and the auditorium's interior are New York City designated landmarks. Gayle and I experienced the performance of Leopoldstadt on May 30. The first reason we chose this play is that it was written by Tom Stoppard, of which I saw "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead." over 50 years ago at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. The second were the reviews, the 2 Olivier Awards from its premier at London's West End, and of course a deep dive Holocaust-related subject. This was a play that demanded us to see it. And we had great seats. Set in Vienna, the play takes its title from the Jewish quarter. This stunning drama of love and endurance begins in the last days of 1899 and follows one extended family deep into the heart of the 20th century, with stops in 1938, 1924, and 1955. Leopoldstadt recently won 4 Tonys including Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Play and Best Play. I thought part of Brandon Uranowitz's acceptance speech was particularly insightful: "Thank you Tom Stoppard for writing a play about Jewish identity and antisemitism and the false promise of assimilation with the nuances and the complexities that are contradictions that they deserve. My ancestors, many of whom did not make it out of Poland, also thank you" To say that this play sucked the air right out of you would be an understatement. The very end really hit home as several characters in the play were named off, with only one word following: Auschwitz. After the curtain call, the theater was very quiet as we shuffled off buried in our thoughts. I'm still thinking about this play almost a month later as I reread part of the script.
We were here to see the much acclaimed production of LEOPOLDSTADT by Tom Stoppard. The play is brilliant, spanning many decades building up to the horrors of WW2 and the devastation of a family during the Holocaust in Vienna. The theater's seating (as often mentioned) is extremely tight, being built in the Beaux Arts era of the early 20th century. Thus, very very little leg room, to the point of discomfort. Sorry. Thankfully we got front row orchestra seats, as my darling hubs is 6'3" - as much as we love the theater, old tight cramped spaces can propose a challenge. Thankful to have the forethought of planning and thinking ahead. Spectacular and brilliant performance of a truly remarkable Broadway ensemble, who maintains the pace and brutal emotion of a very tragic and difficult subject. Thank you for reading.
I was able to and watch a broadway show here. The lobby is very small so once you get in you are directed to your seat. It's an intimate theater so my floor seat felt like I was right in the story with the actors. During intermission the bar, bathrooms and merch are downstairs. It gets really crowded really fast. The line moved fast thanks to the bathroom attendant. I love a broadway show and this was a good theater for me. I love Broadway in NY. Just hits different. read more

The energy at the Longacre Theatre last night was nothing short of electric, and seeing Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York was an absolute delight from start to finish. From the moment you walk through the doors, the venue set-up creates a warm, welcoming experience. The front-of-house staff and service teams were exceptional, efficient, incredibly friendly, and seamless in getting everyone seated and taken care of, setting a wonderful tone for the rest of the evening. As for the production itself, it is pure magic: Christiani Pitts delivers a powerhouse performance. Her vocals are stunning, bringing rich depth, humor, and emotional weight to every line. She completely commands the stage. Sam Tutty brings an effortlessly charming, magnetic presence that perfectly complements the show's spirit, keeping the audience completely captivated throughout. The musical itself is a vibrant, heartwarming love letter to unexpected connections and the chaotic charm of New York City. The dynamic performances, razor-sharp musicality, and infectious energy made it an unforgettable night at the theater. Honestly, I don't understand how these individuals did not win Tony Awards for these performances! If you get the chance to catch this show, do not hesitate, it's an absolute triumph! read more

The restrooms are all downstairs below the orchestra level along with the refreshments and merchandise. Definitely a great venue to see a show! read more

Beautiful century old theatre with graceful architectural details. I've seen several plays there over the years, most recently Tom Stoppard's "Leopoldstadt" whose moniker is based on the old Jewish quarter of Vienna. A tragic story of genocide and loss spanning decades, Leopoldstadt may be one of Stoppard's best productions ever - and that is saying a lot considering the playwright's other brilliant works. I was particularly interested in seeing this play following a trip to Vienna and learning about Stoppard's recent discovery of his Viennese Jewish roots. Seating at The Longacre is not exactly spacious, but I've found that side orchestra seating can yield a precious bit of legroom especially from the aisle seat. Theater staff was fine when I was there, in fact I saw them helping a handicapped patron in a patient and friendly manner. Play start times can be delayed well after their official start times, but that seems to be the trend on Broadway in general these days. Harrumph. read more

Nice theater. Cozy, small, kept in great conditions, great location, etc... Came here for Leopoldstadt. Didn't understand much on it. I guess this review is more about Leopoldstadt experience in this theater rather than the theater itself... Wrong time, wrong place, wrong moment read more
This theater is very small, there are very small narrow staircase on each side, and the seats are pretty tight doesn't have much leg room. It's comfortable enough but not good if people want to come in and out. There are also a lot of partial view seats. Avid the box seat because they are partial view. Since it's small theater so the stage is close enough to the Audience. The bathroom is small so there's always line even men's bathroom. read more

I took my husband to see a play. The theatre is intimate, and I believe that the management tries to fit in as many people as possible, as the space for legs is limited. I had tix on the front row of the balcony, and the visibility was excellent, as well as the sound. The play itself was great; it held my attention throughout. I laughed and cried. read more
We came for Macbeth Broadway and it was spectacular!!! Absolutely love the performance. We also got to see Daniel Craig close up so it was definitely totally worth it! The performance ends on July 10th! So definitely recommend you to get your tickets now! read more

***This review is for A Bronx Tale, NOT Longacre Theatre. Had no qualms with Longacre Theatre albeit I was in the fourth row rear of orchestra so it would be rare if I did have qualms.*** I hate to admit it, but A Bronx Tale didn't live up to its hype for me. It's good don't get me wrong, but it's not great. Here's the pros and cons combined to help you decide if you're on the edge about seeing it as it's last act is August 5. 1. Acting was stellar. Everyone's...except for the main actor. I'm not saying that Adam Kapan didn't do a fantastic job, but he wasn't the right actor for Calogero. It was obvious that he wasn't Italian which, I mean, I don't get but at least try to have an Italian accent. 2. The singing. I'm no expert but it didn't blow me away as it had for other broadway shows with the two exceptions being Chazz Palminteri because, well, he's a legend and the other being the actor who played the dad. Did an amazing job for the number right before intermission, wish he had more opportunities to shine! 3. The storyline. Okay, I know, how can the storyline of a classic movie be a con? Well, the storyline is perfect- it is. The problem is the movie was dated back to 1993 which gave it a completely different feel to it. Back in the day the movie and play were "ahead of ttime" but now? Unfortunately not so much which inevitably made it less enjoyable. Anyways, I am far from talented but this is just my two cents. I don't see myself watching the show again if it has a revival but I don't not recommend (or recommend) this show. Got to figure it out for yourself :). read more

The beauty in this theater is breath taking. While waiting for my musical to start I could not help but look around and notice the painting and work on the walls. Went to see Leopoldstadt recently and felt the ushers and staff did a great job keeping the line moving and ushering us to our seats. The theatre is old New York, typical for the Time Square Theater District. read more
I visited Longacre in March to see Leopoldstadt. The ushers were very friendly and helpful. There were a lot of stairs to get up to the balcony and I didn't notice an elevator so double check for accessibility if you need accommodations. The chandeliers and ceiling decor is gorgeous. read more
I so like bargains on Broadway -- and for once -- being a senior citizen with access to discount TDF tix actually pays off -- even when the seats are in the nose bleed section! The Longacre is a smallish -- old school venue with colorful 1920's ornate plaster decor and chandeliers to match -- currently hosting a BIG show! The Bronx Tale is a BIG SHOW folks -- and if you have any connection to the subject matter -- be it demographically or generationally -- or you are just curious about a certain era of Americana -- get your jones fixed here with this musical adaptation of the Chazz Palminteri book -- because it does not get much better than this. We are hosting relatives from Switzerland for whom this show is almost synonymous with how the EU and much of the non-Western world views America these days. That a Machiavellian dichotomy works its way into the show's ultimate message (love vs. fear) is hardly coincidental. I could have done without the corpulent human seated in front of me -- heavily afflicted by the winds for most of the performance -- but this sensation too was strangely appropriate to the brashness of the show and the unfiltered lifestyle being portrayed here. Yes friends -- this was a 4D performance for me -- I just wish people ate better before going to the theater. ;) read more
