Open 7 days is a real win because it's a rarity anymore. Great NY style/Neapolitan crust. The hot wing pizza has almost all the components I enjoy in this type of pizza - red sauce base, breaded wing sauced chicken, and came with a side of bleu cheese dressing (they don't nickel and dime you to get that added on the side). I think I would prefer mozzarella to the cheese blend (the menu clearly indicates this, it wasn't a surprise) and might see if they can substitute it next time but did want to try it the way they intended to serve it. I think it's a really good value price-wise for an 18" specialty pizza under $20 when other good pizzas are smaller and more expensive. read more

This place is a family owned pizza spot with great selections and an excellent Detroit Style pizza. I have been coming to Nearra's sporadically for a few years now, and their pizza has never let me down. Whether it was dining in with friends, or ordering take-out, the pizza has always been presented beautifully and has always been delicious. With that said, I wouldn't say it's the BEST pizza I've ever tried. However, I would say it's one of the best in the Scranton area, especially if you try any of their specialty pizzas. While I've been coming here for a while, I never felt the urge to review until just recently, when I was introduced to their Detroit-style pizza. I ordered a half-cheese and half-pepperoni, as suggested by a friend, and it was DELICIOUS. The cheese was nicely melted and the edges/crust was sufficiently crispy. On its own, the bread might make the pizza a bit dry, but adding extra tomato sauce is a nice addition. The extra sauce gave the pizza a more mouth watering taste. While I highly recommend the Detroit-style pizza, all the other pizzas are just as good. One personal favorite is the meatball pizza. Meatball pizzas aren't found everywhere making this location just a notch higher on my pizza ratings. Aside from the pizza, I'd have to say the staff is friendly and welcoming. I've never had an issue. They also have a free lot for customer parking as a party room/arcade, which seems good for a kids party. If you have kids, this might be their personal heaven (who doesn't love a pizza party?) All in all, whether you're a pizza snob or not, you have to come here and at least try the Detroit-style pizza. Give that a go and rest is a plus. read more

Used to be able to get two large trays for $15 now it's $25. If you like Detroit pizza there's is pretty good, but definitely not worth $20 for the tray. Their prices are kind of high if you ask me. They charge you more for using a debit or credit card. read more

We used to love Nearras Pizza. Not sure what happened, maybe new owners??? But we've had the pizza two times recently and each time has been bad. First we thought it was a mistake, we were told it was a new chef. So we gave it another chance. It was as bad if not worse because we were expecting something better! We spoke to our friend who first recommended Nearras and she said, it has changed a lot and she and her friends who went weekly no longer go!! Pizza crust is boring, and wayyyy too chewy, the sauce tasted like it came out of a jar, the cheese was limited and didn't taste like any mozzarella I've had, and there was barely and I mean barely any sausage, peppers, onions or mushrooms. We are talking really hardly anything. Not exaggerating, It was insulting for the $23.00 it cost us. I am so sorry to say I would never recommend this place. I keep returning to Nearra's for their Detroit style pizza after seeing it reviewed on NEPA Pizza Review on Facebook (definitely check these guys out if you haven't already for some awesome recommendations!). It's always exciting to find a new pizza place in the 570 area, and it's so hard to shake off your old ways and favorite places to frequent for pizza...but you guys gotta come check this place out. The Detroit-style pizza is thick in every sense of the word- extremely cheesy and doughy, baked in a rectangular pan. The crust is burnt cheese which is honestly the best part in my opinion. There is a minimal amount of sauce that comes with this pizza- it is actually layered on top. So if you're a saucy person more so than a cheesy person you may or may not enjoy it. Lady at front desk was rude. Ordered $70 worth of food, 2 pizzas were supposed to be on cauliflower crust and they were on regular. My husband goes in and tells them and they say "oops sorry we're really backed up now" and no retribution. So now we have 2 pizzas that we can't eat. In addition to the food being delivered wrong, it was an extra 25 minute wait than what they told us.. all for food we won't eat now. You lost our business. read more

Food is decent but every time we get delivery they always forget to bring something and takes an additional hour to get said item. Will never call for delivery again. Not worth the money or hassle. Love Nearras! They are a great little joint to eat in, take out, or deliver. I usually have them deliver as they are prompt and reliable...and I am lazy :) I'm a fan of just a plain pizza or sometimes a pepperoni or two, and they are more than just ok. I am also a huge fan of their strombolis and calzones. It's not just pizza and stromboli. The items on their appetizer menu are pretty good, and their cheese steaks and chicken parm subs are just about as good as you will find in the city. I'm gonna be completely honest here, so sorry if I sound a little biased. Me and my family have been ordering from these guys since 2008/2009, and every pie I sink my teeth into is just as good as the previous, if not BETTER, nearly 100% of the time! The cheese has a nice crisp golden-brown top and is super stringy, which in my opinion, makes the BEST pizza! The tomato sauce is also rich and hearty, and it's really what makes the pizza pop. Plus, I'm always down for a pizza that you can fold, and this pizza certainly serves it justice! I don't know if it was just this particular pie that we got, but when I fold a slice, I can audibly hear the crust crunch. You KNOW you got a good pizza when it crunches when you fold it! Then, when I go to take a bite, you really get every flavor aspect that this pizza has to offer. The stringy golden cheese, the rich tomato sauce, and that nice charred crust, all combines together to make a complete different experience for your taste buds! Now, for the negatives... Honestly, there isn't much to say, other than some weeks are a little bit more sloppy than others. What I mean by that is that sometimes, the cheese will just completely fall off whatever slice(s) you're eating, or it will be a little bit too greasy. But out of all the years I'm eating this pizza, it rarely ever happens (for us, anyway). If you just so happen to live in the NEPA area and REALLY love NY/Detroit style pizza, I'd say give this pizza a try! And like I said, sometimes you might get a sloppy pie, but everyone has a rough day. And I'll say they were! While me and my father were waiting to pick up our order, it was really PACKED! The girl at the counter was getting call after call (literally switching phones back and forth) with a lot of orders coming in! I guarantee you that this pizza is rarely ever a flop. This, in my opinion, is how pizza should be EVERYWHERE! Now just to clarify, I'm not trying to diss the people who love Old Forge style pizza (in fact, that's what my NEXT pizza restaurant review is gonna be about). It's just that I really love this kind of pizza. Always have, always will, and will never stop doing so! While their pizza deserves 4 stars, their lack of knowledge earned them a 3 star. My daughter who is epileptic went on to order pizza query her service dog and was asked to leave. I know we have many Italian restaurants in this area, but everyone should give Nearra's Pizzeria on Capouse Avenue in Scranton a try. Every time we go in there, the food is delicious. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. I've never reviewed a restaurant before, but I just got home from Nearra's and I have to say how great it is. My first time trying Nearra'S and definitely will be going back. I ordered steak & cheese hoagie,pizza and wings all of them were delicious. It's a 14 mile drive both way but was well worth it. When I got home everything was still hot the only complaint I would have is the celery turned to mush as the wings were so hot. Not a big deal that wouldn't stop me from ordering again. I can't wait to try their Stromboli, deep dish pizza and other items on the fabulous menu. read more

I asked for cheddar on my steak sandwich and it turned out to be cheez whiz. They are either really dumb or think that I am. Either inform me that you don't have the cheese I asked for or at least try to dupe me with actual cheese. If I wanted processed crap I would have asked for processed crap. Disgusting. My fries were gross as well, I'm not even sure there was actual potato in there as it was more like just a fried coating. I'd be too terrified to try anything else from there. read more
