Perv! Lack of informed consent and professionalism!!! Too quick to cut. Be aware!! I came in for a scalp consultation and experienced a serious lack of informed consent and professionalism. During the exam, I was told to keep on my clothes but then my breast and intimate areas were man handled and undergarments moved exposing my vaginal area without consent or any explanation of medical necessity. When I raised concerns afterward, they were not addressed appropriately, despite a chaperone being present. She laughed instead and offered NO solace. Fee structure or insurance policy was never discussed and afterwards, I was given an exorbidantly high bill for what turned out to be a limited 5-min visit or less! Horrible, FULL STOP! read more

I saw Dr Schultz many years ago as a teenager. I was put on multiple topical gels and creams for acne and nothing worked. I wish I knew then what I know now and I wish I had asked to be put on Accutane. He never discussed it as an option. That would have made a world of difference for me and my self esteem and I probably wouldn't have had such terrible acne in high school, college and in my early 20s. Proceed with caution. Dr Schultz severely scarred me with an extraordinary excision. He is too quick to cut when a much more conservative approach is appropriate. He also failed to diagnose me with a most basic skin condition. He pushes his products and seems to be more about profit than health care. His staff is less than to be desired. Put me through years of antibiotics and painful chemical peels to "cure" my cystic acne which never got better. When I saw a another dermatologist for a second opinion, she immediately recommended accutane. No peels, no long term irritating treatments. When I went back to Schultz to discuss the possibility of accutane, he gleefully agreed and said he absolutely loved the product. He then proceeded to come up with some lame excuse as to why he never brought it up after years of seeing me suffer with acne. Probably because accutane is cheap and it works in a question of a few months -- not as profitable. I ended up going on accutane with the other dermatologist (her name is Amy Wechsler, btw, highly recommend!) and never went back to Schultz again. The type of doctor who will spend 5 minutes with you then shove his products down your throat: you walk out wondering how you just spent $250 with little to no improvement. Some of the staff is nice but a majority are cold and rude. Everytime I would come in (and trust me it was often) Dr Schultz would barely remember anything about me. I was just another $200 in his pocket. (They charge you $200 alone for extractions that are done quickly & poorly without steam etc) Had been going there for a few years to see if I would see improvement in my skin and I didn't. I must say that in the beginning he seemed to care much much more- would spend a little longer talking to me, actually looking at my skin and genuinely wanted to help me. But the last year or so he just hasn't been the same and it's no longer worth my time and money. I just truly feel like he's there to push his brand and although I appreciate his entrepreneurial nature, it was a bit too much. He was foregoing what might have been best for my skin to sell me his stuff. As soon as I switched doctors ive noticed a huge improvement in my skin and appreciate the new doctor's caring nature that Dr Schultz lacks. I also had called to cancel an appt and instead was charged a cancellation fee of $195.... What a ridiculous slap in the face. don't mind paying premium prices but not when I'm receiving mediocrity. I have been going to Dr. Schultz for over 10 years, and I can honestly say that I've never a met a doctor (any doctor!!) who cares more about his patients, than he does! I have recommended him to all of my friends and family and everyone aggress, he is just one a kind! He takes his time (I never feel like he is rushing on to the next patient), and explains everything that he is going to do, with a sincere "bedside manner". He is also a true life saver...having found and removed skin cancer on my husband, not once, but twice! Who knows what would have happened without him. His office staff is wonderful too....sweet, friendly and always remembering who each and every patient is, and they always seem to fit me in, even at the last minute. Listened to my story. He wants to start out conservatively due to the sensitivity of my skin. I now have many issues due to several reasons from the past....so needed to find a dermatologist who would not just recommend another ointment so easily....a dermatologist who would listen and help me maintain and improve the integrity of my skin and do so as naturally and methodically as possible. I have been seeing Dr. Schultz for the past five years. I came to him for a second opinion and ended up making him my "go to' dermatologist. Dr. Schultz is conservative, thorough and has a great sense of humor. He always explains everything before he begins a procedure and then follows up with me a day or two later to make sure I'm happy with everything. Growing up on Cape Cod, I have been a sun worshiper since I was little. Back in the 80's I feel like spf wasn't as major of a concern as it is today. Being that skin cancer is on the rise, I was really concerned with having my skin checked out. I decided to look at local area dermotologists in my neighborhood. I ended up at Park Ave skin care. Note, this was not by recommendation but due to the fact that I could be seen the day after I called to make an appt. Upon my arrival, I was instructed to fill out paperwork, then was ushered down the hallway into an examination room. I was examined by Dr. Shultz, a very nice, professional Dr. who is VERY knowlegeable and passionate about what he does. I did have some moles biopsied, and was instructed to call the office back 4 days later to obtain the results. Naturally, I lost sleep over it. I feared the worst and those 4 days were the longest days of my life. When Tuesday finally rolled around and I was supposed to phone back, I was greeted by an unpleasant girl on the other end who told me "Ya so those results aren't in yet, call back later." So that I did, I then received the aid of another young woman who told me not to call and that they would call me back when the results came in. I received no notifications whatsoever letting me know they were late or when they actually were expected. Throughout the week I phoned Park Ave Skin Care many times to obtain these results only to continually be shot down by their insensitive staff. I have never dealt with such unprofessionalism in a health care related office. Exactly 9 days afer my results were supposed to be in, I received a phone call telling me everything was ok and that I should reschedule my next appt for my annual skin checkup. HAA, that's a good one. For the money I am out in return for their low grade customer service, you bet I will be doing my homework on other dermotologists. read more

Having seen Dr. Schultz several times before he finally admitted he did not know what was wrong with me, he referred me to another dermatologist. Recently I went to his office to obtain some of my lab reports and while there, he saw me from the distance but did not have the manners or professionalism to come over and ask how I was. I had Dr. Schultz recommended to me by an older lady I work with. I went in to the appointment expecting a very high level of care, based on Dr. Schultz's reputation and prices. I have to say I was disappointed. The office was hot and noisy, the waiting room looks shabby and not terribly clean. Dr. Schultz seemed professional, but rushed, and not particularly friendly. The laser equipment he used on me appeared to be a few years old, and was surprisingly dusty. The care I received was adequate, but it was not the Park Avenue level quality I expected. He is way too confident when explaining the likely outcomes of the procedures he performs. He tried to treat a scar I had and never explained that it's a possible to have even more scarring as a complication of the procedure. I even asked him prior to the procedure if it's possible it will make the scar look worse and he shook his head with a smug smile like it's impossible. Well I ended up with raised red nodules around the treatment site which then lead me to spend an additional few hundred dollars correcting by him. Then what lead me to write this Yelp review was that at the last visit I noticed the nodules weren't improving and wanted to know what other options were there. Since I decided against the other recommend procedures he still had the nerve to charge me $200 for a consultation fee for talking to him about the same problem I've come to him multiple times. read more

I brought my teenage daughter to Dr. Schultz after she had been experiencing skin issues. I was hoping for a miracle, and I think in my desperation, I wasn't thinking about cost vs. results-- at least not initially. The staff is very nice; during the first visit my daughter spent the majority of her time with an aesthetician who did pore extractions without even steaming her face. Should have been my first clue. Then Dr. Schultz came in and looked at her skin for about 5 minutes, suggested products, and left. We purchased the products and our total bill for visit and products was over $700. OK, no problem if they're going to help. the first two weeks or so, we did see a change in her skin-- it seemed to be getting clearer. Then after that her skin started to get dry, so the nurse in the office suggested a product change and more purchases. We went for a follow up about three weeks later, and again a product change and a bill over $300. After that, things went from bad to worse. My daughter's skin reacted terribly. She was having severe break outs that just weren't going away. Dr. Schultz put her on an antibiotic that also didn't work. My family recently moved back to NYC and we were recommended to Dr Schultz by a friend. My 16 year old son had a teenage acne break out and Dr Schultz saw him the same day. He was very thorough and took the time to explain his treatment and cleared up his skin 1,2,3. I have also been seeing Dr Schultz now for a bit more than a month. My overall goals are a bit vain-I want to look good(well at least better). The Dr found 3 precancerous spots which he is also treating. I have heard of all the various treatments and injections but I asked the Dr for his recommendation as to what would be affective. Dr Schultz has been on point with his help. I look better and better each time I leave his office. I am using the IPL skin tightening procedure and it is really working on my face around the cheeks and jawline. It is a series of 5 treatments about a week apart but you definitely see an immediate result. He has used a bit of filler also but everything he does is well thought out and not overdone.
