She was able to diagnose my problem right away and treat it within minutes. I feel very comfortable in her beautiful clean office and with her wonderful bedside manners. Also, lots of free samples in her waiting room. I had to stop seeing Dr. Frew for awhile since she no longer accepted my other insurance, but last open season, I selected the insurance she accepts just so I could go back to her. This is how much I like her! Other dermatologists don't compare! She's a very thorough and skilled doctor. read more

I came in to see Dr Frew for a skin analysis and she was professional and so helpful with all my questions and concerns The office is overall very clean and modern. The front desk is also friendly. I had to wait maybe 10-15 minutes but nothing crazy Highly recommend this doctor! read more

It's been a while and looking back, I don't regret my decision not to go back to this place. Dr. Frew told me I had Scabies! This was after I gave them a bed bug I captured in a baggie. I looked up scabies. It really freaked me out. Thankfully she was wrong. I went to another doctor for a second opinion. He actually examined the bytes. Shaking his head in disbelief. "How could she say this is scabies". There was a huge difference in care and professionalism. What's worse? I developed dermatographia, possibly due to the needless scabies cream. read more

This doctor will charge you every chance they get, including for things that aren't accurate. I haven't been seen by them for over a year and continue to receive bills in the mail for visits that I didn't have. It's unfortunate because the quality of care is excellent, but the lack of transparency in payment and/or delayed charges are extremely frustrating, especially when they are never open or answer the phone and require you to communicate exclusively on a messaging service. read more

Went to modern dermatology to see dr.iyer after many great reviews on zocdoc. My initial visit was a month back n it was awsm. After 15 min of paperwork i went to see the doc. First explained the condition to his assistant then him. Prescriptions worked for me. Followup wasn't tht great mostly unrequired as he just said continue same thing for 6 months. Overall good experience; clean facility, nice staff, good doctor. Would recommend. Followup through phone or email. read more

Let me know my they do not take my insurance last min., canceled my appointment, then charged me a late fee. I spoke to someone in the office saying they would waive it due to it being their fault. Still received a bill, and still receiving phone calls to pay. Unorganized office. Poor business practice. Avoid. read more

I went to Dr. Iyer for a rash I had all over my body, due to my eczema. After reading all of his great reviews, I was happy to finally be seeing a doctor that seemed like he could actually help me. Turns out, I was very very wrong. In the first appointment, Dr. Iyer barely even checked my body--which is probably one of the most important parts of a dermatological examination--and then just prescribed a steroid cream, after I had just explained to him that steroid creams don't really work for me. Although I should've taken the first appointment as a red flag, I decided to go back for my follow-up, to tell him (to no surprise) that the steroid didn't work. After about 3 appointments and 1 other prescription, he told me he was unable to help me further because I did not want to use anymore steroid treatments. Though he did recommend some places for me to go, I feel like he should've been upfront from the beginning if he knew he would not be able to help me beyond prescribing ointment after ointment. I'm giving three stars for the extremely friendly and understanding physicians assistant (forgot her name, but she has brown curly hair and glasses), and the fact that I never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen. Other than that, I don't see what all the hype was about. read more

I waited 50 minutes (most in the exam room) for Dr. Frew to tell me she wouldn't treat me due to drug interactions. I've had this procedure 2x yr for 15 years and had never been told that before. I easily had it done somewhere else. read more

I love Dr. Iyer! He is such an amazing dermatologist and I'm so glad he has opened his own practice! I have been going to him for 7 years now - he has helped me through my problem skin phase. He is always accurate in his diagnosis and always sensitive to his patient's needs. Nicole, the aesthetician, is great as well and her facials are really effective. I really really like Dr. Frew! She is great. She takes the time to answer all of your questions and concerns and is really serious about your skins health. I really appreciate how she takes her time when she is doing annual exams. It is also pretty easy to get an appointment with her. I wasn't happy when I was scheduled for the wrong type of appointment but it won't affect my opinion of the doctors. read more

I wish all my doctors were this great. I've been there about 4 times now, never waited more than 5 minutes, Dr Frew is the nicest doctor ever. LOVE her. Wish she was my GP. Went to her with a rash on my hands, she fixed it up in a couple weeks. Went back for a biopsy on a suspicious mole she found, quick painless (and negative). All the staff is great from the nurses to the front desk, the office is super moder and clean, easy to get in. Love it love it love it. read more

I just literally left Modern Dermatology's new office right near the Rector stop on the 1 train. I live in the West Village and would basically travel wherever Dr.Iyer is for my dermatology needs. Why? Because he cares to take the time to listen and then applies his knowledge, education and experience into getting you to your mutual goal which is healthy beautiful skin, period. No job is too small or too big for him and he truly cares how you look and feel. You can tell he loves his work and wants you to have results, With Dr.Iyer you feel comfortable and able to ask anything that concerns you without feeling rushed or made to feel stupid. I don't know who but I know he has treated a lot of celebrities and he makes you feel just as special and gives you all the time you need. I am a highly educated skeptical consumer and I pride myself on finding the best of class for most everything. But, finding the best doctors to treat me is paramount. I first met Dr.Iyer when living in LA through a mutual doctor friend who was also his patient. Since that first meeting he has treated me for cosmetic and medical procedures....I have had Fraxel, skin checks, mole removal, and melasma treatments all with great success. I get a lot of compliments on my skin and the only person I trust when it comes to my skin is Dr.Iyer. I hope this helps as good doctors are hard to find and honestly Dr.Iyer has got to be 1 in a million. I also take my 78 year old mother to Modern Dermatology who looks like she is 65. She travels from Radnor Pennsylvania to go to him and even went to LA to see him. She feel the same affinity for Dr. Iyer that I do. Try it you will most definitely like it. read more

Seriously some of the rudest people I've ever met in a medical office. The doctor was okay, though after seeing her, I went to get a second appointment with another dermatologist because I didn't feel her visit was thorough enough. I've been chasing this office to get my itemized receipt for nearly two months. So ridiculous. When I paid I've the phone, I had requested for an itemized receipt. The lady in the billing department happily obliged. Two weeks later, still no itemized receipt. I called again, no one picked up so I left a message. One week later, still no receipt. I called yet again, and it led to VM again. Left a message, one week later still no receipt. Finally, another week passed and I finally got the lady in the billing department live on the phone. She was immediately like "oh, right you're the one who called about the itemized receipt. UGH! (I could hear her loud sigh. Really, no need for that rudeness)." She said she sent out two receipts twice...yet I never received, and I've never had issues with lost/stolen mail as I live in a hi-rise doorman building. Then she told me that I could come to the office to get it. So, I went last Monday July 20. The office was closed. There was a sign on the door saying something about a broken AC. I planned to go a week later. I just left the office, and it was yet again CLOSED with no sign. They're supposed to be open till 7pm, which is what the billing lady told me too. What a freaking hassle! Thankfully, the other derm I saw is so on top of things. They replied to my email even on a Saturday and sent my receipt first thing on Monday morning. This places needs to get their s**t together! read more

I've been here twice now, the first time it took an hour to be seen after my scheduled appointment time. The second it took over an hour and a half. Other patients were similarly complaining of such ridiculous waiting times. Dr. Iyer is hands-down the best dermatologist I have ever seen, and I've seen quite a few. I was so happy when he came here from LA to stay (I have been seeing him for many years, on both coasts). There is no one better to see for subtle but incredibly effective aesthetic procedures. And he does often end up telling me to hold off on things that I am looking for a quick fix of self esteem from (where he could easily inflate both my face and his bill). The staff at this office is so kind and efficient, so far from the clinical and judgmental ones I have dealt with in other places. I have recommended him to all of my family and friends. read more
