With my previous dermatologist on his honey moon, and my skin condition not caring about that fact, I took to Yelp to find someone new! After some searching and insurance cross referencing, I came across Dr. Dennett. I called and spoke to a very nice receptionist who was able to get me an appointment the very next day! This has been my luck with dermatologists so far, so the notion of having to wait weeks to see one seems odd to me. Just a side note... Anyway, I showed up a few minutes before my schedule appointment time and was greeted by what has to be the friendliest staff in any doctor's office! I filled out my paperwork and handed over my documents. At my exact appointment time, I saw the Dennett come to bring me in, but because the assistant was still clearing my insurance, I had to wait. That would be my insurance's slow fault, not this office! After they got the go ahead, I was called in and the examination began. Within a couple minutes I was checked, informed, and sent on my way with a prescription. Dr. Dennett was extremely knowledgable and courteous, pausing if I had any questions. Let me stop this review for another side note. Any doctor reading this: please re-read the above sentence in the previous paragraph again. Go ahead, I'll wait....you're back? K, go do it again. Good. Is that clear? The WORST thing you can do is not let your patients ask questions. Please don't assume just because you've made your diagnosis, that anything else I have to ask or say is null and void. I've avoided doctors like this for a reason. K thanks! Where was I? Oh yes, out the door with a prescription! The best part is that I was told that if the medicine works, don't come back! (read: save your $55 copay). If not, I was to call and they would fit me in right away! Though I liked my old dermatologist and initially thought of Dr. Dennett as a temp, I've decided to permanently stay with him! read more

I was referred to Dr. Dennett for a regular skin check. I have very fair skin, so it was a must do! When I called to make the appointment, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I was able to get an appointment within a reasonable time. When I arrived, once again the staff was friendly and I saw the doctor within 15 minutes. Dr, Dennette was very nice. He quickly did a body check and I was out of there within 10 minutes. Although it was short I didn't feel rushed at all. Def go back next year for the annual check. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Dennett for at least 20 years (I mean, his children have gone from toddlers to college graduates!), and he has always been great. He is kind and gentle, caring, and understanding. Plus, you do not have to wait for three centuries in the waiting room to see him. Today, he and his office has gone out of their way for me. I have a recurring issue, and I had been symptom free for a little over a year, but it came back! I went to my pharmacy to see f I still had a refill for my prescription. They showed I had a refill but it was expired. They emailed Dr. Dennett's office, and the refill was okayed in less than 24hrs. Wow! I love seeing Dr.. Dennett (I mean, when you have a doctor who helps you so much, you do sort of develop a kind of crush), I mean, I hate having to see him, but, if I have to see a doctor, he is tops on my list for pleasant (as possible) experience. read more

I have had a couple of annual full-body checks from Dr. Dennett, who was recommended to me by my husband. We both left a doctor who always seemed to find something to "treat" and seemed to be out for money. Dr. D works efficiently, while still managing to be personable and give personal attention. My impression is that he gives a fair exam: he will find trouble if it exists but not look for something just to be able to charge. His receptionist is extremely nice. Dr. Dennett's been my dermatologist since I moved to NY two years ago. I've been seeing dermatologists since I was 15 for various conditions and I think he's one of the best I've seen so far. Friendly too. He's the most caring and professional doctor I have ever met...like I said from my 1st review that he's very nice and you can tell that he cares about his patient alot! He called me back and actually told me not to worry about anything and he wants to really help me n my concerns to get better...Most doctors won't take his personal time away and call you so for that I give him 5 stars! :) thank you doctor for that and I really appreciate you giving me a call to check up on things...it def made me feel so much better! Went to his location in Brooklyn. Waiting to be called in took longer then the "appointment". They had what I'm assuming is a student taking over his paitients, saw the actual doctor for maybe 1 minute when he came in quickly to throw a prescription name over his shoulder and leave, without even looking at me. Tried to tell the student, or who ever he was that I had seen an other dermatologist and was prescribed the same stuff they were trying to prescribe and it didn't work, was brushed off and told to come back in 3 months. He barley glanced as well at the reason I was there. To give them the benefit of the doubt I used what was prescribed for a little over a month and my condition just seemed to worsen, ended up messaging them on mychart with my concerns and to this day have never received a response back. Prior to the message I tried to reschedule the follow up for something sooner as my GPs request, and was brushed off the first time and the second time, after being on hold for 40 mins was told it wasn't do able. I would go some where else if you are trying to get a doctor that has good bedside manners or want somone who can discuss or even do a proper check of you, because I also asked for a biopsy or a skin culture and was told they don't do that. My mistake for thinking I was seeing a dermatologist. read more

I have never seen a dermatologist before and finding new doctors always scares me. A friend referred me to Dr. Dennett and she had nothing but good things to say. I completely agree with her. Upon entering I was greeted by such friendly receptionist. Going to the doctor can always be a little stressful, annoying, etc. but having them greet you and take care of the things they needed to in the manner they did really put me at ease. My appointment was at 11:15, and being it my first appointment with him I decided to show up early. My paperwork was taken care of and Dr. Dennett was able to see me before my actual appointment time. He took the time to listen to my concern and help in any way that he could. I went to Dr. Dennet as a teen and whatever he prescribed worked. It was expensive ($200!) and my insurance didn't cover it but it worked. My issue with his practice is that I was growing small skin colored moles near my eyes and wanted them removed, they said my insurance didn't cover it and I had to pay out of pocket. We did and it cost about $650, but they also charged my insurance for the visit. If my dad wasn't annoyed enough, they grew back! I returned to tell him they grew back (and in less than a year) and he insinuates that these moles are in different places.....NO THEY ARE NOT. I only have but so much space between my inner eye and nose. He removed it again without charging me for the removal, just my insurance for the visit. Today, the moles have grown back and I just deal with it. read more

First of all, he makes the appointment about 5 minutes long, rushes you out of there. He did that every time. They pack in so many people in one day and he doesn't take the time to see how you're doing and how the treatments are going for you. It's obvious they are just trying to make lots of money in one day. Secondly, he had me on antibiotics for months on end to clear up my skin and all it did was make me so insanely tired that I started staying in all the time and sleeping all day. The antibiotics were way too much and not monitored and just killed my energy. It took a couple years to get back to normal after taking those. read more

Dr. Dennett is hands down THE BEST. Not only knowledgeable, but kind and patient and very reassurring. I had a horrible experience with my first dermatologist back in 2009 which left me in a heap of anxiety. With the urging of my family to go to another derm for a 2nd opinion, I thankfully stumbled upon Dr. Dennett who calmed my anxieties immediately. He is always patient in answering the handful of neurotic questions I ask him in a way I can understand better, and never makes me feel rushed. I leave his office feeling at ease every single time, which is priceless. Unfortunately I moved to NJ so had to find another doc closer, but recently I am thinking about making a special trip back to the city to see him. My other derm in NJ is good, but just doesn't have that same patience in answering all my questions that Dr. Dennett had. lutheran medical center in brooklyn station 14. i came in with warts on my knee. he rushed the appointment. did not talk to me about the condition. filled an aerosol can from a huge tank in the next room. came back to me with the can and instead of telling me what he is about to do and why, said: "this is going to sting" and sprayed my warts with it. he did not provide info after that. no bandaid. the area blistered over the next week and stung. the warts remain unaffected. i refuse to see this man again. read more
