Many years ago, I inadvertently threw away one of my wedding bands. My husband and I visited over a dozen jewelry stores to get pricing for a duplicate band. We had never been to Nazar's, and that first visit made us customers for life. They were not only able to make a band identical to the one I had, but they also came in several thousand dollars less than the other jewelers! My husband and I have been dealing with the Nazar family for 15 years. Beautiful jewelry no sky high markups.. I traded in my wedding ring that my husband purchased for me when we married 11 years ago. For our anniversary we traded in the original ring. Mr Nazar credited us for the full dollar amount, to add to the purchase of a new ring. Now granted. I doubt you get full dollar amount unless you double the cost. But that's a win win. No one does that, That I'm aware of. So I bring my beautiful gorgeous stunning ring to an independent Jeweler. Ben Judge jeweler, well he appraised the ring OVER the amount I paid, by 4,000.00. We have shopped there for at least 22 years (since before we married). My husband knew about Nazar from a previous life (wife), haha. I have always had excellent products at good prices sold to me. And we have bought numerous pieces for us and our daughters over the years. Most of the time I do not go with "designers" because my taste is much simpler. However, both Mr. Nazar Sr and his son have been able to understand me and offer amazing renditions of what I have in mind. Last time I went for a redo of my engagement ring. His son was able to produce a gorgeous piece exactly as I liked it to be. The store is nice and their staff, attentive. We've never encountered the difficulties other customers report. I went in just to see if they had a ring guard or snuggie I could buy until I was able to send me ring to get resized and the lady that first spoke to me barely understood what I was asking for. Then we go to ask the lady behind the counter who said " we don't sell anything that isn't real go to Walmart or something" in a very condescending tone. I still asked to get sized and the original lady tries to tell me my size is the size of my ring with isn't true because it obviously doesn't fit and she didn't understand that I needed to find out what my actual ring size was. I took an old diamond ring into Nazar's to have it repurposed. The ring consisted of a round-brilliant cut diamond with two trillion (triangle) diamonds. I asked around and someone I worked with recommended Nazar's. I made an appointment and was late because of traffic. The staff was so nice and the showroom was beautiful and well planned. I was a bit surprised when Nazar himself came out and asked what I wanted to do. I told him that I wanted to take the two side diamonds and make cuff links for my boyfriend. I had a couple of sketches that my bf made and when Nazar looked at them his face lit up and he said that he had a great idea but wanted to change one of the designs and drew it for me. I loved what he sketched. For the center diamond we decided to make it into a pendant for a necklace. When I picked up the final product, I was well beyond pleased. The cuff links were beautiful. Even though the trillion shaped diamonds were small (.25 ct) the setting showed them off beautifully. The pendant also turned out beautiful and I purchased a chain to go with it. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to repurpose any of their old jewelry. The customer service is awesome and Nazar is a gifted jewelry designer. read more

I came in yesterday looking for a necklace and earring set. The woman who helped me was very attentive and understood what I was looking for. I did find earrings that I liked but when I asked how much they were, I couldn't get a straight answer. She said, first pick the one you want and then we'll give you a price. Umm what? When I had narrowed it down a different woman "priced it" and I was finally given a number, but it was more than I wanted to spend and I was put off by their selling style. My first negative review was disputed on here, claiming lack of detail. So here's a new one: The store has very nice jewelry, and pretty ok sales staff. They are very nice. The security guard stares and treats you like a criminal the entire time you're in the store, which is a very huge mood-killer, but I understand the need and try not to discount my experience because of that. Prices are very high in my opinion, but that isn't always an issue if you're jewelry shopping. Follow up on my order was extremely poor. I had to keep in touch with them and call to track the progress of my order, which they told me should take 2-3 weeks (lots of weak and failed promises throughout this process), and ended up taking up 6 weeks. They did not volunteer any statuses or keep me up to date on all the mistakes and delays, I only found out by reaching out when I was confused and worried. This was a big deal to me since I told them I lived in Dallas, planned my trip back around when the ring was promised to be ready. Instead, It was a month late, and as a result I didn't have it for many of the occasions we had planned, including our anniversary. I did not feel treated like a highly valued customer or well served at all. The ring is nice, but at this point I sincerely wish I had gone elsewhere. read more

First, the good. The quality of the custom designed jewelry I received from Nazar's was excellent and exactly as I'd envisioned it. When I picked the piece up, I had the chance to interact with Mr. Nazar and he knows a tremendous amount and is very kind. Unfortunately, the woman who sold me the piece was very pushy. She tried to sell me a very blingy setting and told me that the way I wanted to orient the stone wouldn't look good, but couldn't tell me why. When I decided on a setting, she again tried to get me to reorient the stone. She told me they would call when the piece was done. Weeks later, when they didn't call, I called to check on the piece and the woman who answered the phone chastised me for not calling sooner. They didn't tell me to plan to spend another 30-40 minutes waiting for them to set the stone. None of this is the end of the world, obviously, but when you're making a major purchase, you don't want to be scolded or pushed around. I'm very happy with the work they did, but I'd probably shop around if I need a jeweler in the future. read more

I have shopped at Nazar's since 2004. I have been extremely happy with the beautiful jewelry and the wonderful customer service, and my wedding ring was purchased from Nazars. Mr. and Mrs. Nazar are both so nice and helpful. Every time I go in, they check my wedding ring and clean it. I have recommended two freinds to Nazar's. One bought a neckace with a diamond pendent, and the other bought a beautiufl diamond braclet. I have also had an item custom made and they did a beautiful job. I would give this place negative stars if I could. I took a watch in to have the battery replaced. They called back 5 days later to tell me they replaced the battery, and the watch is still losing time, so they recommend cleaning and oiling - which they'd be happy to do for almost $300. I argued with them that if it's losing time, the battery they put in was not a good battery. They argued back that it needed cleaning. Oh, and by the way, we're not charging you for the battery, they say. Fishy, huh? So I take the watch to another jeweler. When he replaced the supposedly new battery, the watch worked fine. Upon careful inspection of said battery, a date of installation was etched in it.... a full two weeks earlier than I took the watch to Nazar's! Getting fishier. Now that the battery works, the watch is ready to wear, right? NO! Now the watch won't stay on because one of the pins keeps falling out. I take the watch back to the second jeweler, who finds that "someone" had put in the wrong pin! That someone can only be Nazar's. I am unsure how Nazar's continues to stay in business. Lying, cheating, and stealing must be more profitable than keeping customers happy. read more

This family owned and operated store has one of the biggest selections in town. I have been a long customer of Nazar's fine jewelry and they always treat me very well. The sales staff is very knowledgeable and are not there to make a quick sale. Mary my sales person sat through and explained to me all the different types of diamond cuts and clarity. Nazar is the RUDEST businessman I've ever met, and quite possibly a racist. Even one star is too many. We visited the store to buy an expensive diamond watch. The sales lady was nice and helpful. While we browsed, our grown son asked if they could size his finger for rings and the sales lady sent him to Mr. Nazar. This extremely unpleasant man asked my son if he planned to buy the ring then and there. When the answer was "no, I don't think so," Nazar refused to size him. WOW!!! How ungracious! But it gets worse. My husband walked over and nicely asked again, since it's just a matter of sticking a metal ring around someone's finger. Nazar refused to answer him, rolled his eyes, raised his hand and literally shooed us out the door. Go to Zadok's instead for superior service and consistent courtesy from everyone. read more

I work right across the street from Nazar's and so it was convenient for me to go there to get batteries replaced in my husband's watches. When I walked in I asked the salesgirl if they could change out the batteries. She wasn't sure so she took it behind the counter and showed the older woman at the podium. Barely looking at the watches she thumbed her nose at them and quickly reply that the watches needed specialized batteries that they did not carry. If you have been inside Nazar's or even just driven by, it is an enormous store that carries affordable to high end jewelry. So it was to my amazement that this store would not carry batteries for sport watches. How could she have known what type of batteries without opening up the back to see? I went down to Select Jewelers on Voss (between Westheimer/San Felipe) which is a quaint boutique and was immediately greeted by a friendly sales person who said he could change out the batteries with no problem. I left a very happy customer! Business is business---whether a person spends $1000 or $10. Apparently, Nazar cares more about the bottom dollar then providing exceptional customer service which would result in return business. I will never step foot in Nazar's again! read more

A Jewelry store is like a car dealership I shouldn't have to flag someone down for help! and I refuse to do so. Worst customer service I've EVER experienced! I walked in and asked for a certain designer for a possible wish list for engagement rings and a lady came over and showed me the one ring they had by that designer, let me look then put it back and walked away! I was not even CLOSE to done, I wanted to wander around and get ideas from other designers, I also was looking for an opal for my little sister (October is the month for opal birthstones) and she kinda pointed me in the general direction... in a HUGE store that wasn't a help at all!! then someone walked in that she obviously knew and she completely ignored me from that point on. I don't really know what this jewelry stores problem is but they obviously don't need any new business as they've ticked off me AND my boyfriend (he came in to bring a Freemason ring he inherited to get it re-sized, they acted like it was below them to do such minor things, and skirted around making up stories and reasons why they couldn't do it) We took our business to Steven Cash. read more

My husband and I bought my engagement ring here in August of 2014. Initially I was very pleased with the entire transaction, and felt like we had gotten a good deal for our money. However, in the last year and a half, I've lost TWO diamonds out of my setting. The first time was less than 6 months after I purchased it, so they said it was still under warranty and it was fixed. However, this time it is not under warranty, so I'm paying out of pocket to have it fixed at another jeweler. Awful place to buy - decent place to look. Their awful customer service drove me away. I mean AWFUL in every way. I was provided false information (due to ignorance or deceit? I don't know and don't care) and refused answers to very basic questions such as the weight of the gold piece I was looking at. If you require a salesperson to educate you on what you are buying, then you really shouldn't go here. If you want decent customer service or competitive prices, you don't want to go here either. I can only speak for my personal experience which was good. We went on a Thursday and were the only people in the store. We were immediately helped and had two guys working hard to find what I wanted. The main reason I like this place is somewhat of a personal preference. The jewelry at Nazar's is not even close to as expensive as a place like Zadock's. The reason is because you are not paying for their uber high rent and model looking sales divas. I gotta tell ya, 14k gold from store A is the same karats as 14k gold from store B. This was a wedding band trip so the stakes weren't so high. read more

I'm a fan of this place. I can't say I'm shocked by some of the other reviews - this is not a mall jewelry store and the sales people embody that, but I've always had really good service here and I love the jewelry. Owners are super nice and good at what they do. This week my husband got me a beautiful gift and I was happy to see their little navy blue box with a white bow. I know the quality was there before I opened it and the beauty is obvious. I got my wedding set here as well and over ten years later have had no issues with it. Holding tight and if I wander in, they'll clean it up for me. I even had to have an updated appraisal a couple years ago for insurance and they did it no problem. Hubby got another band there because his was feeling a bit tight - they convinced him to only go half a size bigger or so and I think that was probably a bad call, but maybe they knew he was working out and didn't need that much bigger of a band. I just purchased an engagement ring for my wife last Sunday, and I am a truly satisfied customer. The person who helped us finding out diamond was Nareg, a real professional. I told him our budget and the type of setting my wife likes, and he was able to provide multiple options that were really beautiful. I know nothing about diamonds, and Nareg made me feel peaceful and calm; he was patient enough showing us some designer's brands as well. In the end my wife and I found the perfect stone, and thanks to Nareg, it was 100% on my budget line. It's been two days and my wife cannot stop talking about the Nazar's and the wonderful shopping experience. I will definitely come back again. I considered crafting a long review on Nazar's but then reconsidered and thought I would provide some high level insight for those in the market for diamond or other precious stone (either loose or in a setting). Bottom Line - AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!! 1) Sales Staff - Hands down, the most aggressive sales force in Houston with the least amount of knowledge in the field of gemology. If you do any homework on the side prior to your purchase, you will know more than these people (including Mr. Nazar himself). Mrs. Nazar deserves special recognition for being the most unpleasant of the bunch. Their two sons seemed fairly normal/personable - I can only assume they will soon turn. 2) Stone Selection - Sure they offer all of the brand name settings (A. Jaffe, Verragio, Ritani, Scott Kay, et al); however, the real focus on any ring should be the stone and if you do your homework and understand the importance of Cut in diamond grading you will find out that Nazar's must be purchasing their supply from some third rate vendor. Have this tool handy when you shop and you will see what I mean -http://www.pricescope.com/tools/hca/ - Better yet, ask them to explain why none of their diamonds score high on the HCA and see how they respond (they can't.....) 3) Refund Policy - It goes without saying, any place who has an "All Sales Are Final" policy should be avoided All in all, a terrible waste of space on Westheimer. My advice: drop in on a weekend to get an introduction on diamonds from these amateurs, go home do your own homework and then purchase a stone from an online retailer (Blue Nile, Whiteflash.com, etc)...... I'm on the verge of tears at behavior at the salesman at Nazar. They sold me a ring that I got for my husband's 10 year anniversary with Diamonds that have cracks in a purity and when I came back to return it they said they have no return policy. When I bought the ring I was told they had a 14 day return policy any 30 day exchange policy. Now I am stuck with a 2000 dollar gift card to a place that I don't even trust. No complaints here! I absolutely LOVED the customer service provided to me at Nazar's. Gigi helped me find my perfect ring. She was very patient and professional; not pushy at all. Yes, Nazar's rings are a little more pricey than the jewelry stores you find at the mall but it is worth every penny. The ring selection is great! So many unique-custom styles and diamonds to choose from. (AND I AM VERY PICKY!) I am HAPPY with my purchase and I LOVE LOVE my ring. You truly get what you pay for here. I also liked how Nazar was available in the store. Nazar sized my finger personally to ensure the right fit. My ring took 30-40 minutes to be resized. I also like how I can bring in my ring any time to be cleaned or looked at for any repairs. Most jewelry stores at the mall require you to purchase a care plan and check up is every 6 months or so. read more
