I can't say enough about this place. The food is amazing every time we come here. The people here are always so nice and friendly. I normally get the chicken with veggie and rice and a Greek salad. It's way more food than I can eat in one sitting. The restaurant is half store and half restaurant with plenty of seating to eat inside. When they have deserts on hand they look amazing but they don't always have them. If you like middle eastern style food this is your place. Been eating here for over ten years and can't believe I have never reviewed this beautiful gem of a hole in the wall. I highly suggest ignoring any comments like the one from the tourist from Virginia who has only been in one time and has clearly led a very sheltered life. Nazzy might be a bit dated, yes, there's a bit of a weird maze to get to the bathroom, yes, there's rips in some of the booths -- because they've been worn down with all the love and the butts of the hordes of folks who flock here for the delicious food and the wonderful people behind the food. You would not understand if you just happened to stop in one time from out of town. As plenty of other reviewers have noted it is very clean despite how old the interior is, and the folks here care about their customers and community, both in Greensboro and globally. Not to mention, as also noted plenty of times before -- the food is absolutely banging and has been consistently for a long, long time now. After reading the reviews I had to try this restaurant as I love Mediterranean food. There is no table service, you order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Another Yelper commented that they knew how to grill meat here. Man is that spot on. I got the mixed grill. Calling it delicious is selling it short. It consisted of beef, chicken, and Adana. It's a ground lamb shaped into a log then grilled on a skewer. All three were delicious. My plate came with three sides. They were good as well. My wife got the steak and cheese sandwich which was also very good. The only down side is this place could use a face lift. A bit run down. It's still a good lunch stop. The staff was very helpful describing items I was not familiar with and giving suggestions! Unfortunately, they didn't have decaf options nor skim milk but the pastry items looked and tasted amazing! I also walked to the adjoining restaurant and had the chicken gyro. They make their own bakery products on site, which means the pita was fresh and it was delicious! I told the cashier I was allergic to something to leave it off and they then asked additional questions to make sure the item was safe for me...don't always get that service and it was much appreciated! read more

The food is simply amazing. Service is very fast and attentive although it is a bit like a cafeteria ordering your food. It's quick, delicious and fits the bill when you want Mediterranean food. Their Shawarma is possibly the best in the area and the macaroons are some of the best on the planet. Everything is made fresh and it shows. I SERIOUSLY suggest going on a weekend so you can get some of the mint tea they make. It's amazing. I usually get whatever is on the special board coming in whether I know what it is or not and I've never been let down. Everything I've eaten from there has been absolutely amazing. Nazareth remains a delicious option for Mediterranean food, as in several visits I've never had anything to eat here that I didn't love. But I've been too gracious in the past given the condition of the dining area. It really does need some remodeling, cleaning, and change of decor. This place can and should be a beacon of light, but it needs an investment in its customer experience to be at that level. [It wouldn't hurt to clean up the exterior either, but the interior is a more dire need.] I feel a little guilty about downgrading Nazareth by a star given the quality of the food and the pleasantness of the staff, but it's past due. Owners: make the comfort and cleanliness as important as the rest of the experience, and you'll deserve six stars or more. My only other complaint? They don't seem to offer their spectacular iced mint tea very often anymore, and that's a shame. read more

Wow! This was my first time to Nazareth, and it won't be my last. I have found my new favorite Mediterranean place. The portions are extremely generous, especially for the prices, and the service was speedy (but we might have beat the lunch rush, which could have helped). Everything was delicious. The grape leaves were among the best I've ever had. The shawarma was just warm and inviting, something I didn't understand until I tried it. The star for me, though, was the baba ganoush, because I've been looking for baba ganoush like this since I moved to NC seven years ago. It was simple, but the flavor was perfect, and a great pairing with the soft and warm pita. My partner had hummus and the spinach pie, and both were delicious too. The spinach pie was like an egg roll, but filled with lots of fresh spinach. Don't be alarmed by their appearances--we weren't 100% they were open when we arrived. Next time, I'll try the falafel, but I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything here. read more

I ordered the Shawarma platter, which was sliced meat (beef / lamb combo) that came with pita bread and a choice of two sides. I tried their baba ghannouj and spinach pie as my sides, and was not disappointed. The meat had excellent flavor, was perfectly sliced and charred, and the portion size for the meat was very generous. The pita bread was great - soft and fluffy. The spinach pie looked like a massive egg roll but was a spinach-cheese mixture wrapped with filo dough and deep fried - very tasty. The baba ghannouj was just ok - it had a nice silky texture but the flavor was slightly sour for my liking. I also tried their falafel as a side, and thought it had good flavor and texture. I also tried their filo dough pastry - kind of like a rolled-up baklava - filled with nuts (tasted like mostly walnuts, although the server told us there was pistachios in it). I very much enjoyed it - crispy exterior texture of the filo dough, with the right amount of sweetness from the honey, and the richness from the nuts added excellent depth of flavor. The pricing was very cheap considering the amount of food I got - the Shawarma platter was enough for two people, honestly. The interior of the restaurant and grocery store is nothing to write home about - it's very no-frills, which I have no problem with. It's also very spacious, and there weren't many people there when we came, so it was easy to social distance indoors, even though we took our food to go. The bathroom was clean, although it was hidden in the back of the restaurant and a bit of a trek to get to. The service was friendly and pretty quick. The parking was easy and plentiful. read more

I went here on a Saturday during lunch time. I was in Greensboro and happened to be in the area. I saw this place on yelp and was interested in trying them out because I love Mediterranean food. I was not disappointed at all and will definitely come back. I got a Shawarma platter. Platters come with pita bread and three sides. I got falafel, tabouli salad, and baba ghanoush with mine. It was a lot of food for only 11 dollars. I ended up taking half of it home. I am excited about the leftovers because the food was delicious. The flavor is very authentic, the meat was spiced just right, and the sides were all perfect. There are tons of other menu choices. This is a casual joint. You go in, order food from the counter, pay for to, find a table, and just wait til they bring it. They have a soda fountain and bottled drinks. When I first walked in, I knew it was going to be good because the smell. You can see the shawarma rotating and being cooked and shaved down. The food came quick and the staff was friendly. When you are done, you clean up your trash and return the tray. I embarrassed myself by not realizing the pita bread was under the meat. I questioned the staff who brought my food. Not only he didn't respond with an attitude, he brought me extra pita bread! Thank you! Sweet place. Good hard working people. I went in and ordered a take out. I took my time and really figured out what I wanted. I had an idea but so many choices. The cashier Naima was very sweet and handled my needs of an itemized receipt and part CC/ cash transaction. The food was really good. The rice was great and meats were moist and flavorful. Easily the best spot to grab Middle-Eastern food for such a great value! I haven't been here in a couple of years (2-3 yrs??) and I just couldn't believe I stopped coming for a while. I grabbed dinner here with my cousin and it was to the point that we came twice in one week! This place is SO good; The portions are huge to the point I would have leftovers the next day, lol! Their shawarma is BOMB and sometimes I either get as a platter or a wrap. What I like about their platters is you get a little bit of everything. You would probably miss this place in passing but I am so glad I finally decided to stop in! The menu & the sides are enough to give you a good variety of items to choose from. The service is great, you place your order and they give you a number to sit until your order is done. I ordered the Shawarma platter with spinach pie, Greek salad and the grape leaves with pita bread. This platter was huge and I could only eat half of it. The shawarma had such great flavor and I have no idea what the sauce was on top of the meat but it tasted great with the meat and grilled onions. The Greek salad had an awesome vinaigrette on it, I didn't require any extra salad dressing. The grape leaves were a little softer than usual but still tasted great. They had a completely different type of spinach pie, I was thinking spanakopita with flaky phyllo dough but received an egg roll filled with the same spinach and cheese combo, this was different but it was good! This review was written before COVID-19 restrictions (temporarily) no longer allow us to dine-in at our favorite restaurants. However, I have also ordered take-out from Nazareth since these restrictions began as I love the food from this place. Nazareth does a great job regardless if enjoying on site or in the comfort of your own home. Still wanted to share my experience in hopes of encouraging others to support this great local restaurant during this difficult period and beyond! On my done-in visit, my husband and I took advantage of the Daily Special which was: Chicken Shawarma, Grilled Salmon with rice, salad, hummus, and pita bread for $9. A ridiculous deal! Their meats are always cooked well, and I am a sucker for their delicious sauces. In addition to well executed food, the portion sizes are INSANE. You get so much for the price. This place might be one of the best deals in Greensboro. I always at least get two meals out of whatever I order. They will allow you to sub the side items, even when getting the daily special which is nice. I modified mine replacing the rice for their cole slaw. This is a Mediterranean type cole slaw which is like a sweet red cabbage version. I love this stuff. If you have never tried it, I highly recommend giving it a try. I also sub out the salad dressing for their tzatziki sauce. I do this cause sucker for sauce as I already stated and it's a healthier option. They know me when I order because of this substitution. They have even thrown in a big side of extra tzatziki for me as they know how much I love it. The family that runs this place is so sweet! Mom got the double andalusian chicken kabob platter, which is two skewers of marinade chicken breast cubes with three sides (she did cole slaw, Greek salad and hummus). This is another top order of mine. Very healthy and low point on WW, but also delicious. Portion also massive! Their large menu honestly has something for everyone whether you trying to be healthy or go total indulgence. The restaurant is huge and also has a bakery and mini grocery market with Mediterranean items. I usually don't allow myself to even look at the bakery display as there's so many delicious looking things I won't be able to resist. Every time I have caved, it was worth it. Nazareth bread might be THE best Mediterranean place in all of Greensboro. Some may argue this place lacks authenticity, but their staff, food quality, flavor, and service shows otherwise. This is hands down also one of the best deals in the triad too. Their plates are monsterously sized at a great price point. I usually a sucker for a special, which is on their board right as you walk in. In one of picture attached, I got the special that day which had grilled salmon service with chicken shawarma over rice. The salmon was very flavorful and all their shawarma chicken or regular is great. The sauce they drizzle on adds a great addition to the rice and meat. Their pita bread is made in house an must be the softest pita bread in the world. This meal was also served with fancier than normal hummus (including extra chick peas and spices) a side salad, and some tzaziki sauce. All so big I had to take about half of it home for another meal. My wife got the double chicken Andalusian skewers. Which are also very tasty and come with some either garlic or perhaps tahini sauce that is fantastic. She usually get s a side salad, hummus, their coleslaw. I've not tried a lot on their menu, but I'm never dissapointed and always leave full, and with leftovers. They also have a huge bakery with all sorts of delightful pastries. The rice and pita were good but the shawarma was bland and fatty. Several bites were grissley. Both mine and my daughter's were like this. She had a spinach pie that was very good. Made like an egg roll which was different. We also got baclava and it was better than average. I've wanted to try this place for a while but probably won't be back. However, and this is no fault of the restaurant, the delivery service was horrible. I was initially given an estimate of 30-55 minutes delivery window. AND WAS TOLD I would be notified by the driver either by text or phone call when the order was on the way. NEITHER of those happened! After waiting an hour, I looked outside and my dinner was sitting there. (And apparently had been for 30 minutes!) Needless to say, it was not hot, nor fresh. Having spent my entire childhood in the Bronx, the first time I traveled abroad was when I graduated high school in 1969 and went to work on a kibbutz in northern Israel. I'll never forget stepping off the plane and experiencing the smell of fresh air or seeing so many stars in the sky! I had also never heard of Middle Eastern food and at 16 discovered the wonderful world of hummus, baba ganoush, shish kebab, falafel, shawarma, dolmas and pita bread. When I came to Greensboro in 1976 nobody knew what I was talking about but I'm happy to say that in 2021 Middle Eastern food is alive and well and incredibly done at Nazareth Bread Company and Restaurant. Hands down, it is one of my favorite places to go for a quick, bountiful, moderately priced and delicious meal! The place inside is huge and pandemic or not, it is one of the few restaurants you could probably dine and socially distance anytime without a problem. They also have outdoor seating which my kids and I enjoyed until recently when it just got too darn cold! They have daily specials that come with multiple sides at terrific prices that are out of this world, and no matter what platter you get, there's no way you can finish it all. And when I really want to pig out, I have a ball eating the whole thing but still knowing what I ate is not fattening. This place is great for my Weight Watchers plan. Grilled meats, fresh salads, vegetable sides and even tzatziki sauce for salad dressing if you so choose! Nothing drives me and my kids more crazy than paying top dollar in a restaurant that gives you fancy tablecloths, gorgeous lighting and a mini scoop of food sitting in the middle of a huge plate! Nazareth Bread is a master at bringing you delicious food enough for an army at an incredible price. On a personal note, I love all the family that runs this place. I'm always greeted with a warm smile and hello that even shines through a face mask. They all work very hard, provide top service and always try to please. I loved eating inside pre-pandemic and seeing the very warm, natural and lovely coming together of Muslims, Jews and Christians dining together at Nazareth Bread in friendship in spite of whatever was in the news. We will do it again! By the way, nothing beats their incredible baked goods. I've had a few unbelievable desserts but try to resist. I've yet had the nerve to go to their discount bakery in the back because I'm sure I will walk out with every Middle Eastern dessert known to man! Trust me on this one... Nazareth bread was good. Their meats are definitely their strength. The tabouli was also top notch. It was sharp and balanced out the heaviness of the bread and meat. The hummus was extremely smooth. I prefer hummus that is flavored with lemon as the acid. This may have had lemon but I could clearly taste citric acid to add the acidity. The falafel was not good. I am so sorry to say so. I didn't even finish them. The oil had seeped through and the inside was dry. The grape leaves also tasted as though they came out of a can. Moral of the story is that Nazareth bread is good. Stick to the meat platters and you'll be well chuffed. Steer clear of the falafels. It was also a less expensive price than some of the other middle eastern options in the area. read more

My happy place. Best falafel I've ever had and I've had quite a bit. I'm 1/4 Lebanese and this place makes me think fondly of cooking and eating with my Grandpa. When you walk in your mouth begins to water at the smell of the meat on the spit. The cashier remembers me everytime and is always full of energy, the food in served quickly and is always made to order. You must try their baked goods when you're there as they are also a bakery.
