Great museum dedicated to the work of submariners, their families, and their lives and work. Found it interesting that people were most upset when the navy banned smoking, not when it became more inclusive of women and LGBT persons.

A very inexpensive (donation only) and informative museum about all things naval and undersea. There's a large section on training various sea animals and of course in life on a submarine. It's a valuable and interesting place to visit. I love small, specific museums and this is a good example.

As an ex-submariner, I like to visit all the sub museums. This one is not only good for submarine operations and history, there's a large collection of other non-sub undersea stuff to look at. The Trieste submersible in the parking lot is very cool. What an historic vessel.

Old stomping ground. After the Kingston ferry experience (I know you read that review), my son wanted to know what it's like underwater. Well I couldn't dunk his head in the hotel shower so I took him here. FYI I wouldn't do that to my son. Gee you people. The museum is free of charge and volunteer guilds are there to help you with questions. It's a self pace tour that covers from the early use of dive gear to the modern protection of Trident Missiles on boomers. There's an old control room from an actual decommissioned submarine that includes an audio tape of the sub diving. You'll see how sea mammals help USN, the underwater drone program, and the history of the submarine torpedo. Of course, there's a gift shop but not too much of a inventory Overall five stars. I like the interaction you can have with some of the props. And it's fairly accurate to my experience. Man a lot has changed. Now excuse me, I wonder what this button does. M

Not only do you see learn naval history. You learn about science and the mechanics of it all. Topography, light, sound, oxygen, pressure, density, buoyancy, salinity, thermal properties, geology, torpedo's, submarines, assault vehicles, tuffy the dolphin, pioneers of history for nuclear navy, ballistic missiles just to name a few. They have Science Saturday on the first Saturday's so you get to take home a little kid project. The week we went was the Spectroscope. Did you know these use mammals to guide missions?

Fun adventure for kids between 3 and 14 and adults who served or are fans of military history and operations. Submarine rescue is particularly interesting.

I highly recommend visiting this wonderful museum! I cannot believe what a beautiful job they have done putting this experience together, and made it FREE to the public! The Navy and Coast Guard are the corner stone of this community, the entire Puget Sound really. So why not go learn a thing or two about what is in your backyard? This is a fantastic place to bring children of all ages as well. We really enjoyed or visit here and especially are thankful to Larry, an excellent and informative volunteer at the museum. Thank you for the great afternoon!

Great history of the submarine, mines, torpedos, etc., as well as information about atmosphere/oceans. The docents are knowledgeable, and we saw several service members in full dress whites answering visitor questions. We were there 2 hours - until they closed - and could have used another 30 minutes. The amount of time needed depends on how much you want to read. We really enjoyed the interactive exhibits, though all are well done. Glad we chose to visit.

Great place to take dad for Father's Day. Worth the drive if you're in Seattle/Eastside (take ferry & see museum, then see nearby towns).

The museum houses his exquisite and intricate blown glass with a myriad of colors and designs. There is also an outdoor exhibit with several blown glass art entwined in the garden and the space needle towering overhead as a nice backdrop for photos. Glass blowing demos are shown, which is pretty interesting to see the soup to nuts creation of a glass blown bottle or vase. The tickets are a little expensive (~ $40) but worth for those who are passionate about the arts!

The first few halls were displaying artworks made out of glass. There were so many different sizes and shapes of colorful glass sculptures. It was so stunning, each photo seemed like a perfect shot for my phone's wallpaper. The hallway continues to a glass ceiling hall of the building with some more glass artwork. There was a cafe located in this area. Outside the building was a beautiful garden, with walkway all around. They were also doing a demo of making colorful vases from scratch using glass mold from furnace. On the other side was the entrance to the second building that had a theater playing a short movie about creating these glass art pieces. The exit was next to the theater that led to the gift shop. The gift shop was fascinating here. There were so products and artwork representing the glass sculptures inside the center. There were also many other souvenir items like stickers, magnets, apparels, cups, mugs, hats, books, stationery and so many more. We bought couple of magnets from here. Prices were decent. Staff members were really friendly here, both inside the exhibition and at the gift shop.

Lovely Pacific Northwestern indigenous art, a remarkably professional and interesting exhibit inside of local flora and fauna (including a live tank of baby salmon, which you can find adult-size in the rivers around town); friendly person manning the desk and a cafe and gift shop that are not open every day so watch out for that. It was closed at night when we first visited but it looked so interesting that we had to come back the next day to check it out and am so glad we did! It's surprisingly large inside with a very interesting little exhibit room which is like a nature museum - full of information and displays on all the nature and wildlife of the surrounding Dungeness River ecosystem. They're all about education and conservation here so you know how much I loved that! One of my favorite things was their display of rain gauges giving you a visual example of the staggering differences in rainfall amounts around the area - mind blowing how much rain some of these places get! They partner with the local Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe, the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society and the National Audubon Society. They offer all sorts of nature and wildlife programs, field trips and conferences, as well as birding walks and other tours. The center has a gift shop and a satellite stand from Hurricane Coffee. We tried their Happy Camper (a blackberry mocha) and their Dark Raspberry Mocha and we couldn't resist the freshly made Blueberry Coffee Cake displayed - everything was delicious! They have quite a few benches and picnic tables outside, as well as a lovely bird garden that was just teeming with local species. They even have a "bird blind" viewing area inside where you can watch in secret so as not to scare the birds - it was awesome! They have plenty of clean restrooms and a huge parking lot so there's room for everyone. The GPS brings you right to the river center - but you may get confused bc it looks like you're driving through a remote rural neighborhood- but just trust it bc it's at the end of the road lol! Once you're finished exploring the river center, be sure to pop out back and explore the historic railroad bridge over the beautiful and huge Dungeness River!! So worth it!
