I know the TJ border can take up to 5 hours on busy days so I never go back to the US thru that border. I recommend getting here before they open at 6am so that you can get thru in less than 30 min. Tecate is the border city here and it's such a pretty city with lots of coffee shops, so you can always park your car and walk over to the border, have coffee and walk back, and the wait is not even long to walk back, maybe 5 min max. A day before I received a text reminding me of my appointment. When I arrived to the Social Security office I checked in using my mobile phone from the text I received to check in. Then they text me my ticket number. Once my ticket number was called I received another text with the window number to go to. The guy at the window was super friendly saw my documents and told me I should receive my new card in 2 weeks. He also informed me that after 24 hours their system will be updated with my new name and I could go to the DMV to process my new Driver License with my updated name. The entire process took 15 min. It was super fast and I love how easy they have made it with the update text messages.

You will have to walk up a small curve incline to the document checkpoint. Just in case mobility is a factor. 4. If things are moving smoothly and you go between the times recommended, the border crossing to Tijuana is 10 minutes. 5. I travel with kiddos, I always take full photos and send to family. Amazing how patient, children, babies, pets and adults are to wait 3+ hours to exit Tijuana into the United States. The line snaked into four lines. You'll see children selling woven flowers, mothers with infants walking up and down the lines selling snacks. There was a churro man going back and forth. Also blind or others saying chiclets, selling gum. Many people in line bought cold refreshments like popsicles, ice cream or granita looking cold treats. Happy to be back in the United States.
