I parked my car in the Ped West parking lot, and I feel comfortable and safe here even though there aren't any cameras. I hope they have it for future's safety. I parked near the entrance on the first floor, alongside some of my classmates' cars, which is reassuring. It's a building parking lot, which I prefer over open parking, especially for overnight stays or longer, up to a week. The cost is $18 for 24 hours, which isn't bad at all!

I am so glad the government finally reopened this crossing station which is adjacent to the Las Americas Premium Outlets. Not only is it cleaner and more modern than the old San Ysidro Port of Entry, but it exits much closer along the main strip to downtown Tijuana. The pandemic had closed this access point to the border for nearly three years. The last occasion I took this route into Mexico was in 2019. It's almost an annual ritual that we go to TJ for a walking foodie tour with different people each time. Check out the places we have previously visited at this link. More spots will be added after today's journey. https://www.yelp.com/collection/N4upiXXG8lozKsecY_lrkw?utm_content=Collections&utm_source=ashare Why only three stars for PedWest then? When we tried to enter, the Customs and Border Protection guard informed us that only the northbound flow of pedestrian traffic was permitted. It was strange that you could enter the US but not cross into Mexico. Unless there were CBP staffing issues, the one-way route did not make sense. When our group was ready to return to the States, we tried to use PedWest again. This time we learned that instead of a 24/7 operation, the port of entry is only open from 6 am to 2 pm daily. If this beautiful facility is going to be used just 1/3 of the time in one direction, then they should have kept it shut until it was capable of resuming full-time services each way.

There are some places that can be very helpful yet there are many places you must stay away from at the border .

From the many travels that I have had there have been many places that have been just out of control and to see another country that has been let into yours you may not know they are soldiers or killers, yet the border has become a war zone. The unclean environment that I have seen many places I have been much more not kept clean and the public is at risk to be at the border yet to see so many which have come to the United States. As a reviewer the United States has kept the border and the people that are at the border safe and protected the conditions that were at the border to have seen unclean eateries and the use of transferring that can't be traced which is called the block chain method the border it gave the looks of what would see at a military border and the enemy with in just a couple of miles of the base. The many companies that do service the border the grey hound service the destinations are of the United States and the many states that are there in with the many stops at certain cities. Seeing the many Federal Protective service cars that were at the border crossing building and being the watchful centuries that kept a close eye on the many illegals that were lined up to be taken to holding and other states to be placed. You could feel a war like feel in the air as the many people that were coming and going from the border that were watched by the many cameras that had the pictures so the border patrol could keep watch. San Ysidro is not an area that would be good for students of large groups I had seen many that were going back across is to wear a mask if you are going down to the border. There were many places that were of the United States companies such as Jack N Box and the multi mix food courts is to be very cautious of what you eat and to look for grades on the food places to make sure they are clean. To see the many San Diego Transit Ambassadors, they are really great to see them help people with the pronto and the many busses that are servicing the border Trolley Transit Center. My day was one of the best to see the many helpers the things that turned the day bad is to see the border that was unsafe today.

We started at Goodnight John Boy, which is a 1970's Nightclub!!! It was also STOP 1, serving PIZZA. We stopped at in on 16 RESTAURANTS!!! HERE IS HOW OUR DAY WENT: We proceeded over and up. We ate PIZZA again at PIZZA ON FIFTH. THEN, back down, BACK AND FORTH, and down some more. Back and Forth, AND UP!!! We had pizza and more pizza, a couple places had sliders. CHEESE BALLS at The Field!!! I ate both of our Cheese Balls, and they were large and filled with soft, creamy white cheese. When we walked into THE FIELD, the Staff approached us and took us to a table, the only empty table in the place!!! After that, they even exchanged the stool that was there with a backed chair. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! YUMMY, yummy Truffles at Sugarbear!!! We then ran into the MEXICAN REGION, with Rockin Baja and Hasta Manana, and Baja Rick's Cantina!!! We loved HASTA MANANA, in particular. It went all out MEXICAN FOOD, we had three different things to eat, including Chips and Guacamole, a Potato Taquito, and Arroz Con Leche. HASTA Manana was the HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY!!! At ROYAL India, we tried Chicken Marsala!!! We were thrilled to see CAFE SEVILLA again serving Paella!!! We were also thrilled to see SUGAR BEAR again serving DELICIOUS DESERTS!!! I have to say this about SUGARBEAR, we were greeted warmly by the owner, who was standing outside. It was JUST LIKE LAST YEAR. WHAT A DAY!!! I mean, this is a Classic San Diego LOCATION, location, location, the Gaslamp Quarter. Then, DID I MENTION, you get to taste the food at 16 Restaurants!!! They could not be more different. You will find this statue on a grass patch along the street. Parking here to get a closer look is relatively simple. There is a huge metered lot within a reasonable walking distance of this statue. It is a simple statue that depicts a sailor being embraced by a woman, that I assume to be his wife and a small child that I assume to be shared by his wife. The sculpture is the work of Stanley Bleifeld, whose intent was to express the joy of the reunion between a family when a sailor returns from a long deployment. The statue not only honors the service member, but the sacrifices made by families during challenging periods without their loved ones. The San Diego sculpture is a replica of the original one in the US Navy Memorial in Washington, DC. You will find other copies in Virginia and South Carolina. The statue is about 7 feet high and was dedicated in August 1998. It is showing its age a bit, but still looks pretty good. It is a powerful sculpture and you can really feel the reunion. Be sure to check out the expressions on the sculptures' faces, especially the kid's. Anyway, as with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. There are a ton of statues and memorials in that area including the USS San Diego Memorial, The Bob Hope Salute, The Aircraft Carrier Memorial and the Unconditional Surrender statue. I would also consider visiting the USS Midway Museum, as well.
