The earliest appointment I could get was in October at the San Ysidro Land Port of Entry building. They have appointments available at LAX but 4 months out. There are other offices that conduct interviews around the country as well but appointments are recommended and walk-ins are not guaranteed to be seen. My appointment was at 9:15 am and the letter told me to get there 30 minutes early in case they were running on time. They weren't, and since the office is small, I had to wait outside with the border officers until my appointment time. When it was 9:15 am, I walked into the Global Sentri office. There are 10-12 seats in the lobby and it is very small. I stood in line until it was my turn to be seen. The gentleman who helped me asked a few questions, asked for my passport and driver's license, and told me to wait in the lobby until my name was called. About 30 minutes after that initial interaction, I was called into the back for my interview. The setup is very much like the DMV, where the office is open with cubicles everywhere. I was asked a few more questions, fingerprints were scanned, and my identification documents were returned. I was told that my old KTN was still usable and that my new one would be my Global Entry one, and the 5 years would start after my next birthday in August. Either could be used interchangeably. I thought that was weird that they didn't combine them but it doesn't matter really since I'll have expedited processing when I travel internationally. Just plan for about an hour at the interview since there is a chance that they are running late. Someone showed up an hour before her interview but they didn't see her until her interview time. This is not the office for walk-ins. Be prepared to put your bag in to be checked in the luggage x-ray machine. I was in and out of that office twice because my friend came with me, but they only asked me to x-ray my purse once. I parked at the outlet shopping center across the street for free and walked over. If you need to kill some time there's a Coffee Bean nearby as well as a mall.

Also, it's actually located inside the San Ysidro port of entry so before you enter the border patrol will stop you and ask for your documents and ID, so make sure you have them handy. The Sentri is a small office to the your left once you enter the building. The waiting area was very small and barely had enough chairs to fit everyone. There was no water station or vending machine but there's a water fountain by the bathrooms to the right of the the building entrance. Finally my name was called and the officer gladly was nice and friendly. We just chatted the whole time and I guess that's my interview lol. The nice thing about this new location is that it's next to the outlet (convenient for some after-interview shopping...) The parking is shared with the outlet. Just make sure you walk and cross the street at the light because the rest of the road is fenced off and you can't jaywalk around.

Review of the most Dangerous Street in National City Division Street…read more One street has been the one that has dark streets and the overhead lights which should have overhead lights and the street has been in darkness with less than several lights that have walked up Division Street. The many streets that I have taken the buses which travel through areas people have to walk in the dark to get down the sidewalks and having park a car in the dark when you have a street that has no overhead lighting can be one street where people get hit by a car. From the many times that I have seen the flow of traffic that have come at many speeds with the narrow top where the buses stop at where people catch the bus. When you walk down Division Street you find no streetlights with a few only found there should be ones should have lights on both sides where you can catch the number13 Bus at Euclid that takes you to the 24th street station. The many cities that have very little streetlights many of the larger main streets that have lights on both sides when you come to the neighborhoods it can be very dark and dangerous. Division Street is one street that is so close to the road and the traffic that comes down at high speed with people that have to walk up and down the street there is no sidewalk when you go further to the top towards the neighborhood streets of Ava which is near the housing complex. The signs that don't inform people to use certain lights with the change in time it does get dark earlier with both sides of Division Street is one dark unlit area with a possible car accident. As a Yelp Elite Reviewer, the many times that I have walked down Division Street its been one which has so many cars which speed comes close to where the people walk on the side of the road. Being a reviewer the few streetlights which cover very little area and the darkness can be very dangerous for those getting to your cars you could be raped or hit by cars on the road. Division Street needs to have more safety and more lights the long stretch when it gets dark the street is very dangerous.

My husband was called for his 11:20am appointment, went in, took a seat and was soon called for his interview which didn't take long. You get your photo taken along with fingerprints. He had to show his drivers license, but not utilities or paycheck stub. Parking is just down the street in a free lot. My husband's approval for an interview came up about 2 months after he initially applied. I was approved to make an appointment for an interview the very next morning after applying and had my interview at the San Diego airport, which we preferred as it was not so far to drive. Making people from north county drive all the way to Otay is inconvenient. They should have satellite locations available. Hopefully if we reapply, we don't have to go through the interview process again. We flew twice domestically where one of us had Global Entry and one didn't and there wasn't much difference in the time getting through TSA, (In fact the one without G.E. was a smidge quicker on one of the legs) so not sure if it's worth it, but we'll see over the next 5 years.

The modern building is nice, and the agents there efficiently and securely processed in person applicants. Security made sure visitors had no weapons or prohibited items. Check in was followed by a brief waiting period, and quick processing with an agent. Drivers can use the parking lot by Paseo De Las Americas and Via De La Amistad. There's also a transit stop right by the enrollment center.

Visitors can be escorted onto base with personnel who have access but must remain with them at all times. This a Military Installation so photographs of Naval Ships, entrance gates...is no allowed to ensure the safe guarding of security. Seeing the Active Naval Ships up close is a privilege not a right, remember these are War Ships. But if you have the chance or opportunity to see them up close I would take advantage just be mindful of the security hazard you can cause by posting photos or videos.

If you look on GOOGLE and get technical: The Coronado Bridge is a 2.1-mile architectural icon that curves 200 feet above San Diego Bay to connect downtown San Diego with Coronado Island. Per Google! I did not know this until I searched Google. Construction started in February of 1967. The bridge opened in August of 1969. There used to be tolls! It stopped in 2002. Overall, I like it. It's very convenient. No, you cannot stop or walk on this bridge. You'll have to do your own research for technical details.
