Buyer beware of purchasing topsoil, loam or what ever they call it! I had my son pick up 1 1/2 yards of top soil from NMS a couple of weeks ago. 2/3 of it went on the garden and the rest I was going to pull from as necessary. After leveling off the pile on the garden I tilled it under only to find a lot of stone, wood chips and glass not to mention unidentifiable pieces of god knows what! I decided to run the remaining 1/3 of it through a 3'x7'x 1/2 screen homemade sifting device, for every 3 shovels of shit approximately 3/4 to 1 shovel was debris, ok I can deal with that because all top soil today has been stomped on like 1980 blow, what is tough to deal with is the shit that went on my prestigious garden that is now full of crap! So I rake it out as much as I could get out of there, level it out and today the shit is turning the garden a silver color, obviously cut in part with process something! I have a tough time getting out and a tougher time doing manual labor, I had asked the person I spoke to on the phone numerous times if the top soil was clean and sifted, of coarse they said yes back to me numerous times. Have I reached out to this company? No, is the answer, they know what they are selling I don't feel I should have to reach out every time I purchase something, how about selling what you say your selling. Hope you sleep at night knowing you screwed an elderly disabled person NMS, karma is a bitch, eventually somebody you love or care about will get taken advantage of by the small caring company in your neighborhood! read more

I had a bad experience with this company. Select your own exact stone pieces; THEY DON'T CARE WHAT THEY GIVE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. They have flawed stone in stock (that they can return to their supplier), and don't look out for customers because they're too focused on moving product in and out. No quality control and no customer service! I had questions before and after my project and was told by Nephew Vinny to leave my contact information for his uncle (the owner) to call. I never got a call back. Still, at my contractors' (Gemstone) request, I went to select my stone for our front steps. On the morning of the project start, I looked at granite pieces on top of piles and they looked good at the top--, no visible "natural" flaws for me to comment or request different. While I was at work, the steps were installed and had dark stains on them. Now I'm stuck looking at steps with marks all over. Their response when I reached out: no call back, after calling AND stopping by. I showed the Nephew Vinny photos of the project, and he agreed I "didn't get the best seeing the number of spots on just two steps. I left my number, but still no call back from the owner/uncle. I had a very poor experience with this company on May 4, 2018, in particular the owner. I ordered some topsoil which by itself was good. I asked if he could deliver and dump on the grass at the front of a raised garden bed, he said sure. My wife calls me shortly thereafter (she was at home for the delivery) and shows me pictures of the dump site. The employee had dumped the soil on the garden bed and caused the side of bed to bend inward putting a great deal of strain on the wooden sides; so much so that we were concerned the sides may collapse and break. I had just built and finished the structure the day 2 days before. My wife attempted to get the owner who dumped the soil to remove some of the dirt so the strain would not be so severe on the garden bed. He would not and claimed that he and his company are liable for any damage incurred as a result of the dumping. He claimed this is written on the invoice, which I have yet to discover. He would not return to discuss with us any other possible paths to correct his mistake and essentially said "too bad for you" to my wife. After several hours spent removing the dirt from the yard and releiving the strain on the sides of the garden bed, I got a call from the owner. Indeed, during that time I missed dinner with my family and kids, so I could clean up his mess. On the phone he proceeded to tell me that my wife told him it was ok to dump where he did - which was a lie, my wife tried to stop him from dumping where he did. He did not offer to refund or fix any of the damage, nor was he amenable to discuss anything. He said again that he is not responsible for damage he caused by dumping and tried to say that he did us a favor by dumping where he did. This was a surprise to me since this was not disclosed at the time that I called. It is unfortunate that he was so unwilling to compromise and blamed us for his mistake, as we are not unreasonable folks. Since this time (on or about June 12, 2018), I have found termite colonies in my garden bed. My property was routinely free of these pests as can be proven by my Orkin service contract. The termites have begun to destroy the garden bed and have also killed some of the plants in the bed. We were forced to enter into a contract with Orkin to kill and prevent the pests from destroying any other buildings on my propery at at cost of over $1300 for the initial treatment, then $300 annually to indefinitely prevent any termite damage. This company was negligent in where it obtained the soil from and essentially claimed that he could damage anything on anyone's property including a house, and he is not responsible for it. I would never, ever purchase from this company again, nor the owner, and would discourage anyone else from supporting this business. read more

I am very sorry to say that my experience with Naugatuck masonry was very poor.I have a beautiful stone patio and they reluctantly came back to remove the wall they built because the electrical pipe was not in the center.The owner flippantly laughed at this. I wanted stairs that were fieldstone and natural looking.The owner of the company installed them and with the "blasting marks"facing outward,he told me this was "natural!The stairs are all different heights and the owner states rudely,this is what you wanted!I most certainly did but NOT with the blasting marks facing you as you walk up the stairsThe stairs are piece mealed together with random wedges that fall out.I have asked both Miri and his brother to please come and fix my stairs since I did pay well ove $ 6,000.Before you hire them please feel free to contact me and take a look for yourself.I have asked them over and over to please fix my stairs and got nowhere.I then told them I was going to write a review and they both laughed at me and stated,"We don't care!"Well,fair warning I gave them.They certainly took advantage of a woman, sadly to say. read more
