Given you run into a thousand gelaterias while walking around Lisbon, I'm so glad we walked into this one! The store wasn't too busy when we popped by so we really had time to try some flavors out! Usually with gelato flavors, I like to stick to things that are a little less sweet or those that are more fruity. I ultimately went with the stracciatella and the coffee/espresso that they had but was able to sample some of the fruity flavors before that! Each flavor was perfect, light, and not too creamy. In fact, the fruit flavors had this brightness to them that was really refreshing! I was ultimately really happy with the two flavors I chose -- neither was too rich or heavy and the perfect snack for a warm, sunny afternoon. If I find myself back in Lisbon sometime soon (I hope so!), I'll definitely make my way back here. Try it out!

Despite the crowd, the service moved surprisingly fast and the whole experience felt well organized. You pay based on cone size rather than by the scoop, which means you can load up on flavors without the guilt of counting portions. I went with pistachio, mango and blueberry cheesecake, and the combination worked beautifully. What really sets Amorino apart is the presentation, the staff shape the gelato into a stunning flower design that almost feels too pretty to eat. I also grabbed a Nutella crepe which was every bit as good as it sounds. Beyond the gelato there are plenty of options to explore including their famous macarons, so it is worth taking a moment to browse before you order. If you are walking through the Baixa area, this is an easy and very rewarding detour.

I frequent the one in the ROD so it was not a shock when I dragged my friends in. It's the exact playbook as the one in Houston. You get in line, place your order and then choose your flavours. I went with my good ole faithful waffle with two scoops (hazelnut chocolate and salted caramel) of gelato and topped it off with hazelnut drizzle. The total was about $6.40 which is way cheaper than it is in the states. It was just as delicious and very much worth it. It's easy to find in you're in the Baixa area of Lisboa. Just follow the path.

After wandering the streets of Alfama in Lisbon on a hot July day, we were looking for some…read morerefreshment - specifically ICE CREAM. We didn't want just the novelty stuff on a stick, either. No, we wanted real ice cream, the kind someone dishes into a cone or cup for you. AHHHH!!! We came around a corner and saw a plush ice cream cone hanging out front of this little shop, so we ventured inside. Talk about kismet! Not only was there ice cream, but sorbet, too. I opted for a cup of hazelnut and dark chocolate paired together. My wife got the same dark chocolate, but with a nice coconut. The place was empty, save for the very nice young woman who served us, but soon it was full. Maybe we started a trend, maybe some passersby saw us and thought they might like some ice cream, too, I don't know. But, here's the other side of the coin, and it's not a downside. The shop has much more than just ice cream. Did you notice the "sardinha" in the name? There are many tins of sardines available for purchase, too. And tea. And wine. And olive oil. And olive paste. And flavored vinegars. And Sal de mer. This little shop, and it is not a very big space, although there was just enough space for the four of us to sit and enjoy our ice cream and the light breeze coming off the water just across the street, has a lot of stuff in it. We found that elusive present for one of our neighbors right in this shop - in fact two presents! The prices are good, the place is spotless, the young woman who served us was pleasant and helpful - this was a gem in an already great city!
