Their location is also great because the people in your party can decide on different cuisines for dinner without having to leave the Food Hall. Super cool spot inside the Haven City Market. They always have a nice variety of beers to choose from. Like that I'm able to give some new beers a try and explore some breweries. After my nearby dentist appointment, I ducked into Haven City for a quick bite/drink. I spotted Native Son toward the back and knew that would be my first stop. It was late afternoon on a weekday and pretty quiet. I imagine it's probably crawling with people on the weekend. Brock was working the bar and was very hospitable. He gave me a run down of the daily specials and their menu. While I saw several cocktails on the menu that peaked my interest, I decided to go with one of the daily specials, a Hot Toddy. Absolutely delicious with a wonderful ping of ginger and perfect for the chilly weather. I would have liked to stay for a second round, but I had another appointment to get to. These drinks and their flexibility in trying to make something new was delightful! Although they couldn't make what I wanted, these bartenders were very smooth in their operations and very encouraging for my friends and me to try new things. Just a note, beers can travel around the market but cocktails required us to stay at the bar. One friend who had a plum beer earlier returned for another that was light and sweet, he claimed. Another who started with a beer returned for the Negroni, whose deep body of flavors was enchanting and warming. Even that bitter aftertaste. Since I lived grapefruits, I was used to it. My other friend had a Blue Hawaiian and she claimed that it was much stronger than she had anticipated which was a pleasant surprise. Last, I wanted a Midori Sour but they didn't have the right liqueurs so they offered to make me a new one. They mixed pamplemousse with white rum and stuff and created an unnamed drink! And it was yummy but much too sweet in the end. However, given the flow of the night, I really liked it and it kept me awake and up to be the DD back home. At Native Son the bartenders go above and beyond the call of duty in explaining everything on the menu. On the night that I went with one of my friends and we sat at the bar, Andrew was the bartender that helped us out. Even when the bar started to get really busy he still took his time to take our order! We started the night with getting chilled shots of their house Tequila which was really good compared to other house Tequilas I have had in the past, definitely would recommend trying it if you are into Tequila. At Native Son they have three varieties of alcoholic slushes, I decided to go for the blue tropical one and it was really good, somewhat strong but not overbearing. My last drink was a Sour, staying true to form of my own flavor profile I went with an 8% Apricot Sour that was really tart with subtle notes of fruity flavors. Jamil and Mike are the only friendly staff at this bar. I've been multiple times and Jamil and Mike were the only staff that didn't act like my business was an inconvenience. Native Son is a bar area with a few tables to sit and enjoy a bite or a beverage. This is my second time coming to the Haven City market, but first time to Native Son. The ambience at Haven City Market is pretty cool with a lot of places to eat, and enjoy alcoholic beverages. The Native Son was our first choice and it did not disappoint. My wifes drink was mixed perfectly and I myself, had a plethora of beer options. Some of the beers they had on tap were Firestone Walker 805 (Blonde), Modern Times Fruitlands (Tropical Sour), Stone Ripper (Pale Ale), and my personal favorite the Artifex Unicorn Juice (Passion Fruit Wheat). I'm not sure if they rotate their beer selections on a consistent basis, but one thing you can be sure of is great customer service. "Kwon" I think was the name of our server. He was also the waiter and the cashier. He did an awesome job of keeping everyone happy. The bartender was also pretty awesome as my wife raved about how good her drink was.
