This place is a nice gem in the heart of the rancho suburbs. I hate to say it, depending on which bartender you get will make or break your experience. I would consider myself and friends regulars and the level of service we got today was pretty shitty.The bartender, he had a pony tail, goatee was SO RUDE, I think his name is Sooki. He was clearly annoyed we were there. My friend made a joking comment about light beer and he was so offended,I had to interject and say give her the Mexican Lager, he then even went to talk to what look like a manager after, and they both stared. Overall, it was disappointing. Love this bar and the great bartenders make it great, but your shitty ones make it shitty. read more

Native Son is in the new and beautiful Haven City Market. It's located in the back corner and I believe they're the only bar in the building, serving unique handcrafted cocktails. I actually didn't try any of the cocktails because I'm pregnant but the bartender was kind to make me a mocktail with a passionfruit base and it was SO tasty!!! My husband enjoyed his tap beers and they have a wide variety to choose from. I also appreciated their ice cubes that were a perfectly clear and see- through symmetrical cube. If a bar puts this much precision into their ice cubes, think about how much more their cocktails are thought out. I enjoyed stopping by this place and will be back when I'm in the area! read more

I generally try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, as a bartender myself, but the two behind the bar on Thursday early evening had such a bad attitude. My gf and I had a horrible experience at Natives inside Haven City. We were walking around the food court, I had a beer from around the corner over @ Brick Shack. My GF advised me about the cool bar in the corner, so we walked over for a few drinks. Like most people around, I had a beer in my hand, and Mr. Jeffrey Kwon said we couldn't sit on the tables provided; my girlfriend was a paying customer and I was going to purchase a few drinks from Natives. We were rejected and weren't allowed to sit or be around the bar, which I found extremely rude. Understandable if we weren't paying customers, but that was not the case. Is this how customers are treated? As if we're some sort of virus. I'm a very loyal customer to most restaurants and places inside Haven city (we visit Haven City about 2 or 3 times a week and have never had such a bad experience with any other business inside the market place. It would have been nice to actually experience the vibe, but Mr Kwon was not as friendly as he may seem despite the purchase we made. Could have been a good experience, but at this point, I don't even want to stop by there anymore. Competition shouldn't be the main point of the business. read more

I don't totally hate this place. Me and my sister in law come here quite often when we want a drink because it's one of the only places in haven that makes cocktails. That being said, it depends on who you get as a bartender the day you visit in how good the drinks are. Not everybody who works there does a good job. On top of the drinks not being consistent, the employees aren't either. A lot of them aren't welcoming and if you ask for recommendations, even if there's not a huge line, they aren't very personal with their recommendations/ they aren't very nice if you ask. AGAIN, It depends who you get. The owner here is a nice guy. From my experience, on and off days. He's given us a couple free drinks in the past and has made us a new drink if we didn't like the one we ordered. When he's there, it's normally a good time. I don't wanna rip on the place cause I do like it. The drinks are pretty good, the ambiance is awesome... it's just there's mixed feelings cause some people are super nice and some are just..weird. I'd give it a shot. Drinks are somewhat expensive but happy hour is decent. read more

Love Native Son's! This location is better than the Santa Ana location that's for sure. Cleaner too. Staff has been super friendly especially Stephanie. She's super friendly and respectful, has never messed up my order. If the owner is reading this you should promote her and give her a raise! Wish there was more bartenders like her at the establishments i frequent. She's def a true gem! Oh and Kwon is also super cool and nice too. You def have special people working here, keep it up. First off let me start by saying I love this location and the frozen drinks are the best! However I don't like how they are handling to go orders. Charge me twice the cost for a cocktail lying like it's twice the amount. I've purchased drinks here several times what he poured in the container wasn't even half the can. Don't charge me more and give me the same amount, just say you are charging for the can. Secondly the assistant manager is unprofessional. He allowed his friends to step behind the counter and pour beer and make drinks without washing their hands. I did not report this out of respect for the amazing and kind owner. Really good selection of craft beers. Have yet to try their mixed drinks or appetizers. The beers are overpriced and the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The beer pricing doesn't even make sense and it really seems like they are making the beers up a lot. The Asian guy that runs the place always seems to have a complacent attitude towards me when I go there. If I don't make my beer selection right away he seems to get impatient, even if no customers are behind me. He seems to be friendly and chatty when someone he knows comes up to the bar though or an attractive girl. The other guy that runs the place with him has been more friendly, but overall I feel like they take their customers for granted. Was my first time drinking here so I didnt know what the specialty was. Our bartender ,Suki, helped us navigate the menu and tried to help us make a drink selection choice. I kinda didnt know so I just asked him to make his own specialty. He made me a drink called the Eastside and was I happy. It was very delicious and I had to get a second one. This place is pretty dope. One of the staples I visit at HCM. The drinks are proper. I brought my sister in law her and she was complaining some of the cocktails were in small glasses...At the end of the night she realized they packed a punch!
