I was sent to a doctor in Phoenix who quickly referred me to Dr Maynard, who was an expert with my specialised needs. He was so amazingly excellent and knowledgable. I love the entire staff and have always had the absolute best experiences I was so nervous when Dr. Maynard retired, but Dr. Heffelfinger has continued to give excellent care to us and any nervousness I had about him retiring has vanished. I have absolute zero problem with driving 2.5 hours for my appointments. They are worth it and have always been able to work with my schedule. After my appointment, I received an explanation of benefits that seemed to conflict with the amount I was billed. When I called the office to address it, I was transferred to the "office manager," who was immediately aggressive and rude. She spoke over me repeatedly when I expressed my concerns about a "contact lens fitting" that had not been submitted to my insurance and cost more than $70. When I asked her to please not interrupt me, she asked if there was anything else I wanted to address. I told her that I had been a contact lens wearer for many years (and worn the same brand/relative prescription during that time,) so I didn't understand what the contact lens fee entailed. She continued to interrupt me, at which point I informed her I just wasn't going to be returning. She hung up on me before I could finish speaking. While the providers at this practice are good, the staff need better training for communicating over billing and other concerns. The "office manager" was unprofessional and went out of her way to escalate our conversation. If you are looking for a new eye doctor, please look elsewhere.

About 2 months ago, I took out my contacts, put them into the cleaning solution, and reached for my…read moreglasses, which weren't where they were supposed to be. I subsequently walked around the house, barely able to see, trying to figure out where I had left them, wandering from room to room, closely looking at every table and countertop. "NO MORE", I said. I wanted options to be less reliant on glasses and contacts, on which I've been dependent for over 40 years. I made an appointment with Dr. Hwang, and from the moment I walked into the office, I knew I was good hands. Everybody was friendly, professional, and personable. I can actually list names of his staff with whom I interacted; they are all so easy to deal with and talk to! Dr. Hwang came into the exam room and we discussed my options, which included LASIK and IOLs (intraocular lenses). He is crazy smart and not only completely answered all my questions, I could actually understand everything he said; he's got a really good talent for making the complicated things easy. I couldn't have asked for a better specialist to help guide me through the process. After careful thought and weighing the pros and cons he laid out, I decided to have refractive lens exchange (RLE) which basically is cataract surgery but without my having cataracts. I chose a newer, extended range lens similar to a multi-focal that promises good near vision as well as distance. He performed the surgery a month ago. The surgery staff were just as amazing as his office staff; they work together like a well-oiled machine. Everyone was friendly, respectful, professional, and overall blew me away with how little it felt like actual surgery. The experience was painless, not even uncomfortable. It was quick. It was easy. That night I woke up and glanced at my alarm clock, and realized I could see it from lying down; no more reaching out to pull it closer! I went back to work two days after the surgery, seeing near, seeing far, seeing the computer screen, all without needing to reach for my glasses. It's amazing! The most impressive thing of all is I will never get cataracts and my vision won't significantly change as I get older. I want to give a big shoutout to Dr. Hwang, his staff, and the surgery center for taking such fantastic care of me. Thank you!

She wanted and asked for written proof or she had to charge me. I paid the fee and went home, verified I had coverage, and called back. I was told I already paid and that was that. I called my provider who called them to tell them I was covered and to bill them. When I called back, I was told I would not get a refund unless they were paid in 3-4 weeks. I was telling this to the place I went to get my glasses from who verified my coverage from the card, and they thought it was crazy. Our consensus was incompetent or lazy; I am going with both.

I had to wait for a car to leave to get parking in their completely full parking lot and then it took me two and a half hours of waiting in a jam packed waiting room before I was even seen by somebody. Then after you're done to add insult to injury I waited another 30 minutes in the waiting room before they could schedule my follow-up visit. The vibes were awful in the waiting room. the front desk staff was understandably tense and unfriendly and the waiting room was full of grumpy old people all loudly using their cell phones talking about how long the wait was. If you have other options I would strongly advise people against using this facility.
