Patrick was such a pleasure to meet. At first I was skeptical because my Realtor said don't trust online people and to use his guy. He said his guy knows what he is doing and not to trust somebody from out of state because he won't know the regulations. Not only was my Realtor wrong, patrick from smart loans knew more about the overall process than my Realtor and more importantly all the new regulations that changed. With that said I've moved on to a few interesting careers with Top of the fortune list companies but I enjoyed my time working with Chad and Ron. Doing things via email isn't my favorite way to do it, I prefer a full-service web-site like Rocket Mortgage or Better Mortgage. However, the customer service was better at Nation's Choice than at Rocket, and the rates were lower at Nation's Choice than either of the others. I worked with Brandon & Melissa for probably 4-5 refinances across 5-10yrs. I own several properties, so my situation can be complicated for some lenders. But it's never been a problem for them and they always close on time. Most recently, they completed a cashout refinance on my rental property in the end of Dec 2021. On that specific experience, I checked with Brandon on and off for ~18 months before starting the process in Nov. Throughout that time, replies and updates were timely. Brandon will also give you an honest opinion if paying points or cashing out more sense. In one experience, he refunded my initial deposit after I found a better rate elsewhere. After he reviewed that closing estimate, he could not match it and agreed it was better terms & costs for me. But that new lender did not close on time and updates from them were poor. So I had to re-lock at a higher rate. I have learned from that experience & won't go to that new lender again. With Melissa, communication is excellent too. She backed me up when I notified the Title company to correct a mistake in a recorded document. They took corrective action ASAP after her reply. I've referred Brandon to family & friends and will continue to do so. If I had to say anything negative about the experience, they would be areas beyond their control. They are: 1) Nations Choice can only underwrite in CA & AZ. I wanted to use them for other states, but couldn't. 2) There is no secure website to upload documents, so you need to password protect your document before attaching to email. I want to end by saying you won't go wrong working with these people. If you do your part by providing the documents requested in a timely manner, you can relax and let them take it from there. read more

If I could give, I will give zero star. I will give more details, but very terrible experience for me. Unprofessional, no call back and no email back. Never do loan with nationschoice. Completely waste 1000 dollars. If you give application fee and all third party fee, you are stuck and you will lose all money. Never look for Christine Wenger and Sabrina Corkill. Yuck!!! This company stink. Inexperience and very rude. I have been with them for 50 days and no loan. Declined with a very simple reason which my broker told me any loan agent would know. My wife and I paid NationsChoice Mortgage a $495 application fee in order to refinance our home loan through them. In short, the process took several months and did not conclude successfully despite the tremendous amount of income reporting and financial solvency that we were asked to deliver. We feel mislead and very frustrated with NationsChoice Mortgage. The lack of professionalism by paying us lipservice, not to mention the waste of time and energy spent could have all been avoided. As NationsChoice has a "Service Guarantee", we requested a refund of our $495 application fee via email in March 2013. To date, we have not received a response or refund from them. What's worse is that my wife and I missed a window of opportunity to lock-in a very low APR. I am so very disappointed with NationsChoice and their egregious business practices. read more

Severe lack of communication.  A lot of times I had to call them to get an update on what's going on.  Started a loan application and didn't hear from them in about a month.  Oh, I've been sick...sorry.   Sorry you didn't feel well, but don't leave me hanging.   I'm sure you have other people in the office to help.   Out of the blue I'll get a call from a notary.  How about telling me that everything is set and a notary will be calling you?   Did I wire the money to the title company?   Uh, no because no told me to wire money let alone send me the instruction/info to do so.   Yeah, you need to wire "about" X amount of money.  Uh ok, is this amount close enough???  I think they get decent interest rates, but holy crap what a pain in the ass.   I would NOT recommend anyone to them. read more

I do not trust Nations Choice Mortgage as the mortgage lender. I first went to Google and Bankrate to contact different lender regarding closing fee and was very close to pay $500 and sign the application with NationsChoice for 30 years fixed Mortgage. However, the rate was still dropping so I decided to waited a few days before proceed with the application. I got a phone call from NationsChoice few days later asking why I haven't signed the document paid the $500. I replied that I need few more days to decide, but the customer representative just hung up the phone with huge force. All I heard was the huge sound like someone throw the phone down, and then the phone just disconnected. I was amazed how unprofessional the company was. I later was thankful for the NationsChoice rep being such a jerk because I could have fallen into the 1% application fee trouble with them. To be fair, I was lucky enough to not to sign any application or documents with them so I do not have the personal contact after the customer rep hang up the phone on me.
