I went in there to see the actual tiles, which many other stores don't have, and the service was terrific. Today I went to National Tile and had the pleasure of meeting Brendan and Cheryl. Their service was extraordinary and so were their products. They were able to show me what they had and also tell me the benefits and drawbacks of the tiles and details of their installation. They were the best tile experience I have had out of seven or more different places and contractors. My house needs some bathroom repairs and my 1950s kitchen (see pic) needs a refreshing of the grout. I would not ever go to or recommend any place other than National Tile on route 28 in North Reading for tile and its installation. read more

I went in expecting to have to buy a bunch of tiles to accommodate plumbing work that would be done behind my shower. One of the managers/co-owners asked me a bunch of questions, shook his head, and gave me the name of another plumber who could do the job without me having to rip out and replace my tiles. Yes!! I will be back when I am actually ready to do a proper tile job in my bathroom. We did find that they are always quite busy, so we took their recommendation to make an appointment prior to coming in -- it was 2 days out. But scheduling that time saved us a bunch of money, as per above, so I can't recommend them enough. read more

I've been looking for tile for my bathroom, I wanted something that popped ,not so much with color but with a design pattern. I've been to the box stores and I was at my wits end and on a deadline so I walked into National Tile and Maria asked me if I needed help of course I was looking at the most expensive Marble tile and Maria asked me a few questions about where the tile was going to be installed , she explained to the pros and cons of the particular marble tile so we moved on with so many choices my eyes went everywhere. I've been here twice in the past week. The first time I went in there were 4 employees at the front desk and not one acknowledged me when I came in or walked around the showroom for 10 minutes. They were talking among themselves about their upcoming company holiday gathering. The second time I went in with my husband, we were acknowledged and actually helped quite well! The problem arose at check out. Throughout our browsing, I mentioned that we were somewhat price sensitive, given that replacing the floor in the bathroom was not part of our original planned budget and arose out of necessity. In other words, I provided plenty of information that price mattered in our selection and decision making process. It wasn't until checkout (and a lengthy process by a new employee to add us as customers) that we were told about the shipping fee. This shipping fee had the potential to be 10% of our total order. They couldn't tell us exactly how much we'd be charged because our order would be consolidated with other orders and the cost divided, but it wouldn't exceed $45. Additionally, this wasn't a shipping fee to get the tile to our house, but rather a shipping fee to the store; we'd still have to go to the store to pick up the order once it came in. Essentially, we're paying for a business to get their inventory to the store to sell to us. Of course, this is a cost of doing business, but imagine being rung up at Target or Market Basket to then be told there'd be a 10% increase on your order to pay for the cost of getting inventory to the store to sell to you. Either build this cost into the cost of the product, or be up front about it from the onset. When I balked at this and said I could go down the highway and get something in stock and not pay any shipping fees, the employee ROLLED HER EYES and told me it had just taken her a long time to add me into the system and enter in our order (something I should be complaining about, not her as I had to stand there while she fumbled through it). Since they were unwilling to do anything about the shipping fee, plus the eye roll (so unprofessional) we left. They handed over a $500 order - which I acknowledge is a very small order in the grand scheme of things - to their competitor over a shipping charge. I will never shop there, and told my contractor about the experience and encouraged him to stop referring his customers there to select their tile. You can do so much better a few miles down the road at Fitzgerald. FAR better service, better pricing, much larger selection, and much more actually in stock. read more

Can i give zero stars?? I went to the store and spent about $6000 on tile for a brand new house. I worked with Nick in the store and before leaving I asked about glass tile for a black splash said I wasnt 100% sure what I was going to do yet - Nick showed me some tile he said was inexpensive and they stocked it so after the fact I decide not to use the tile and now they wont return it and tell me it was a custom order!! I call to speak with Nick and he denies telling me they stocked it so I am stuck with $600 of tile!! I will NEVER go back there again! read more

I had an unfortunate experience here. I went in and spent at least 40 minutes walking around, checking out various styles and colors of tiles, looking through design magazines, and not one single sales person looked at me. There were other people in the store, and many who came and left while I was there. Some were helped, and some were not. I really prefer to give my business to local establishments because they usually have better service than "big box" stores. However, I would have been no worse - and possibly better - off going to Home Depot. read more

We've bought tile for several projects from National. But we ran into a problem. When we ordered some additional tile for a project and there was a color mismatch they immediately pointed out I signed an agreement that said they were not responsible and that we should not have expected to get the same color. I would suggest you don't shop here: They sold me tiles that should not have been sold to me after explaining to the sales person their intended use. I spent well over $1K between everything and when I expressed my frustrations and that I need more tiles after the ones purchased continued to break, they couldn't even do me the courtesy of comping me a few. Also, the place looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 60's and some of the folks working their are, how should we say it nicely, less then helpful. Avoid at all costs and believe the other yelp reviews. read more

Well went to National Tile today with hopes that I would find the customer service that lacked at another tile company I recently visited and posted. Walked in with hubs and was immediately amazed at the selection! We walked around a bit and about 10 mins after a very nice and VERY helpful sales women "Maria" had come over. She was extremely helpful. We explained to Maria that we would need tiles for 2 bathroom reno's and entry way. Maria really was great and we can't wait to go back and place our order with her. I can't say anything about the other posters regarding their awful customer service because we did not experience that maybe you did not get Maria! So if our looking for good service and a great selection check them out! As soon as the reno starts and we place an order and buy from them I will keep you guys posted on our over all experience. read more
