My mother bought a chairlift from this company. The chairlift rarely works. My mother has missed out on many things do to the chair lift not working. Once she needed to get to the hospital and the chair would not work. Twice she was scheduled for a haircut, but had to cancel last minute do to malfunction. Another time was to attend a birthday party. The list goes on and on. We requested specific installation requirements. The chairlift needed to be extended away from the front door. The lift was installed before we moved in. The lift lines up with the front. This makes it hard to get in and out of the house. Avoid this company at all costs. Our story with NSM begins October 2020. My husband had been in a rehab facility after having a major stroke June 2020. The therapists there had NSM come in to measure him for a manual wheelchair. Fortunately my husband was able to come home but would be wheelchair bound. He came home with a loaner chair from NSM. He received VNA services for several weeks. The PT contacted the salesman from NSM to find out where his permanent chair was. She was told it was denied and had to be remeasured and refiled. I had not received any calls regarding this denial. The VNA PT was able to get the same salesman to come and remeasure. This was early November 2020. Time went by with no calls. I called the salesman, left messages on his voicemail several times with no return calls. This went on from mid November until mid February. While at Spaulding rehab as an outpatient, I was mentioning this to his new therapist and how upset we were at the lack of communication there was from NSM. Standing right next to me was a representative from NSM who immediately contacted his manager with our story. I thought that was the answer. She called back that same day saying the order was not sent yet!! She filed it again and we got the chair mid March 2021. This delay stunted his progress , plus because it took so long, things weren't right and the foot rest broke after just a week, so it wasn't able to raise or lower. Funny how that was repaired quickly. But things were still not right. I called and called and finally got that manager because the salesman didn' t answer again. She got him to come out in May 2021 to redesign the chair. I still have not heard a word from that salesman!! I've called and called not only to him and the manager but also the main 800 number which never returned that call, left messages, spoke to the manager may times with the promise that he would call the next day. But he did not. I was told 3 weeks ago that he had pulled the new parts off the shelves and would call that day. No call, no parts yet. It is now December 3, 2021. This is crazy. It is no way to run a business that is supposed to be helping handicapped people during the worst time of their lives! read more

My husband and I live in a rural area and are used to waiting for everything so 4 months did not seem excessive. The technician from National Seating & Mobility [NSM] met with my husband and measured him in December in our home. Technician made a lot of suggestions which were helpful to deal with the weight of the wheelchair so I could put it in the car. Getting the wheelchair approved by Medicare took forever. The one place the ball was dropped is NSM did not tell the PT, Denise, from Porchlight [fabulous] who was doing the paperwork, that Medicare denied the order the first time. The wheelchair came in when my husband was in the hospital with pneumonia so NSM held it for the 6 weeks he was in the hospital and rehab. Horrible, I'm a quadriplegic and unfortunately deal with this company way to much. Go anywhere else possible, get a skateboard and a pillow and make it work if you have to. I hope their families get rabid HPV.... read more

What I really would like to say, I can't but, NSM is trash and should be avoided at all costs. If you're in need of a wheelchair to get to doctors appointments, food shopping or just getting around don't go with NSM they really don't know how to do business with people with disabilities, they think it's a joke having to wait months and months to find out they can't even get the paperwork done correctly. Every week I would call and be told it's on order and they are waiting for parts. then they put you on a loaner list and come back with a wheelchair that can't be taken apart for travel. What do they expect you to do roll in the chair to appointments? I was diagnosed with terminal cancer and the swelling of my legs is unbearable to walk or stand. They shouldn't be in this business if they don't have compassion for disabled people. I probably would die before I get this chair but hey, gotta keep on living and find other means. Does anybody have a place I can turn to? My lawyers have itchy hands and if I lose my leg due to their negligence and lying services they will have to deal with the consequences. The office in Newington, CT is marginal at best. Chair took 3 months to arrive, I paid $7000 out of my own pocket, no insurance. Seat sling and footrest were the wrong size. I waited 5 weeks for the new parts, when the parts arrived they were incorrect. Instead of getting upset I told them that I would order the correct parts online and fix it myself. This company is useless and doesn't help their customer. It's a monopoly and they have us by the balls. Major disappointment!! read more

We waited a year for this company to provide my mother with a wheelchair, after we'd made the required physician visit, provided referrals, insurance documents, etc. When we contacted her insurance company to ask why it was taking so long, they said they had no interactions with National Seating and Mobility at all. Months later, we got a message from the company saying "due to our lack of response" they couldn't provide Mom with a chair and had made the account "inactive". Believe me...we responded, multiple times. Mom died last month, still with no physician-approved wheelchair. Terrible, awful company. read more

Customer service is so bad it almost defies description. Long wait for the chair, wait, wait, wait then find out order had never been processed by NSM. Then problems with the wheel, NSM said "no, it's out of warranty". I call manufacturer and they say "It's only ten months old, of course it's in warranty". I call NSM back, phone call not returned. Two weeks later another call to explain the warranty thing and she says "I have to check with the technician who came out to look at the chair. He wrote it down as 'not covered'". In fact the tech told me to check with NSM to see if it was covered--it wasn't his area of expertise. NSM makes Comcast look like LL Bean. I reiterate what the other reviewer says: this is just an awful company. Should be avoided at all costs. read more
