I have been a very long term customer at this Balise and was satisfied until recently. My last purchase was a financed vehicle via ready credit and that was a night mare, they gave me the car needing an oil change and also made me bring it back for an inspection sticker another day, all of which is time consuming. I made an formal complaint with management concerning this matter after I have paid off several vehicles with them since 2006. The manger did nothing to rectify the situation. Two weeks after this purchase the heat in this car went out, requiring me to drop the car off for service for several days. Recently I had to bring this same car in again for an AC leak and the BSD system malfunctioning. It is still under warranty. Now I was informed today they are charging me a diagnostic fee??? This was not mentioned prior. This will be the last vehicle I purchase from them. I am appalled at their business practices. read more

Bought brand new Elantra Limited from Balise Hyundai-Buyer Beware No Transparency at this dealership; very rude. Took 5 hours to purchase car that we had already put down money. They have dealership accessory fee ($987.00) on the form that really is a spray on product (ceramic coating) for the outside and spray for inside of the car; they don't tell you what it is and are elusive when you ask. They will NOT let you forgo this unless you finance with them; which is a scam. Once car came in had appointment for 9:30am to test drive and to buy if all went well. When test driving heard rattle so figured out they didn't lock in back seat when cleaning it. Arrived back about an hour later. Made to sit for hour before able to meet with Marcus, salesman. Once we started meeting, Marcus made assumption we were financing at their 4.5% which is told us at first was 5.4%. He left to talk to Sales Manager when we were stunned at hearing it was 5.4%. When we asked why we were not getting the 3.5% rate on the website he was looked confused. He finally told us we could get that or the $500.00 off with 4.5%. We said we wanted to see the monthly payment figures both ways. Again, he had to go to his sales manager (every trip to sales manager was at least a 15 minute wait). When he returned with information, he said that we could also finance with our own bank if we wanted. I began asking questions about the paper we signed stating we needed to get the ceramic coating; he looked confused. I repeated that I would like to him to get that paper so we could consider this option as well. He then told me, "I ask the question you don't". This did not bode well with me so I told him I was the customer and if I have questions I should be able to ask them. He then told me I was being "combative". At this time, I got up and left. I called our bank to find out the rate, etc. I did not want to buy from this dealership at this point; I was outside discussing this with my husband. After about half hour, the salesman did apologize, stating that he came from a big family and that is how they talk to each other. Well, I am not your family, I am the customer. I agreed to go back in, only to learn that what he was talking about was refinancing with our bank after we financed with them. So, once we reviewed the options, we decided to go with the 4.5%, then refinance. At that point, we expected to meet with finance, but instead, the Marcus went in/out of the office to bring out single papers for us to sign. He then returned to sit with us stating that it would be a little bit before he would be ready. He went back into finance office. Mind you, it was now past lunchtime and we were hungry. Finally, after sitting for another 15 minutes my husband went to the door and said that we needed to get going. Once papers were signed, we waiting then for registration. Marcus had disappeared. He was in lunchroom eating; learned this because finance person was nice enough to get us a snack when we told him we were hungry. When deal was done never saw or heard from sales manager as would typically happen. Got email from Brian Houser, General Manager stating if we weren't going to give them 5's to contact him. We left him a voicemail. We spoke with him; he is going to retrain his staff and offered us a car wash coupon for a year (still haven't received that). That offer isn't worth giving them 5's, so they get 1's; only because I can't give them 0's. In the end, we paid $720.00 more in finance because of the scam. We were told that there would be no fees and application to refinance was simple. NOT TRUE!!! Wished we had bought from Gary Rome Hyundai, much nicer experience, just didn't get car in first. Will never buy from Balise Hyundai again. read more

While my visit to Balise Hyundai and my interaction with the salesperson, Wahab, was pleasant, the unexpected bill that came afterwards was not. After discussing the down I would contribute, lease mileage, & monthly payments, I explicitly asked if I should expect any other taxes, fees or costs after signing on the dotted line. I was told that state taxes & other costs like registration were rolled into the monthly payments and that I would only have to pay one additional "turn-in fee" at the end of our lease if we don't end up purchasing the vehicle - nothing else would be added on as a cost, except for the protection plan I opted into afterwards. Little did I know, a few months later I would be sent a hefty bill from Hyundai Motor Finance with a Massachusetts property tax assessment added to my account. Please be weary when you hear that all taxes are rolled into the monthly payment...because it is NOT! I am now being told that I'm responsible for an additional cost that was snuck onto the contact despite being told by the sales team that my amount was final. The dealerships sneakily pass on these state property taxes to lease customers (look at the additional pages you initial past the main page of the Lease Agreement because it's not listed on the breakdown there) - they don't tell you that and won't say it's part of the final cost, even if you ask. After feeling like I had a positive experience at Balise, I'm quite disappointed. Lease customers beware. read more

I wish they were local to me and not 3 states away. The office is chaos. There is no system of communications. Each inquiry will take many minutes of waiting and re-telling of your story. Papers and car keys are just hanging out on people's desks, many of them unlabeled. Employees don't remember you or why you're there You don't get notified when your car is ready. You have to proactively check in to remind, even if you're standing or sitting nearby waiting. Do yourself a favor, support a local repair shop where the service will be just as good, but your blood pressure won't be sent sky high. Avoid if you can. read more

Being a first time new car buyer, I really didn't know too much about the process. That being said, I brought an experience and knowledgeable friend with me when I began my new car search. We had decided to check out a few different dealerships, starting with Balise Hyundai. Upon walking in, I was immediately greeted by the sales manager (Brian), and he sat me down and didn't waste any time trying to get me into the right car. I test drove the Elantra and fell in love right away, but I knew that it might be tricky to get this to fit into my budget. Long story short, Brian worked with me to make sure that I left satisfied, in the exact car that I wanted. He was patient, not pushy at all, thorough in answering all of my questions, and did not make me feel rushed to make a decision. My friend who was with me confirmed that I did, indeed, get a really great deal. After we came to an agreement, he sent me over to another gentleman (Brian Couture, who had taken me on the test drives) to finish up my paperwork and get me into my new vehicle that evening. Brian C. was even more excellent than the first Brian! He was so friendly and down to earth, and he made the process very easy for me. I drove off the lot in my new vehicle that evening with a full tank of gas and a smile on my face! Needless to say, I didn't make it to any of the other dealerships, and I'm glad that I didn't. I purchased a lemon from Balise Hyundai in Springfield 2 years ago. The car I purchased was a 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid with 17,000 miles on it. Since I drove the car off the lot it has been nothing but a nightmare. I have had to bring my car in multiple times for an array of reasons. You name a problem, and my car has had it. In fact, only 2 months after I purchased the car, I was given a rental car because of an electrical malfunction. I have faithfully dropped off my car every 6 months for an issue (not counting recalls). Roof Water Leak ABS and LDC System Malfunction and Replaced Virtual Engine Sound System Stopped Working V.E.S.S Control Module Needed to Replace I have paid for 2 car batteries to be replaced in two years! Failed inspection and had to fix Front Wheel Bearing Not only have I had to deal with an unreliable and expensive hunk of junk, the service center has been nothing but unprofessional. Full of empty promises, being hung up on, being told there is nothing wrong with my vehicle, downplaying the amount of issue my car has had. In fact, I was told all of these issues are caused by "normal wear and tear". By that statement, I am left to believe that Hyundai sells terrible quality vehicles. If after only 37,000 miles all of these issues are considered "normal" by the staff at Balise. I had my car towed to Gary Rome after being quoted half of the price for the second battery replacement. I would not recommend Balise Hyundai to anyone who is seeking out a professional, understanding, and quality car dealership. read more

They did a service inspection on my vehicle and told me everything was good. I got my oil changed yesterday at Monroe and they showed me my front brakes and they were down to nothing and needed to be replaced. BALISE said my front brakes were were good and had plenty of pad left. The mechanics don't even inspect your vehicle for proper maintenance. They are too lazy and falsified paperwork. DO NOT GO HERE FOR MECHANIC WORK. read more

If they cheat a young Coast Guardsmen they'll cheat anyone. Hyundai Veloster Turbo engines are defective and UNSAFE. Please don't fall prey as we did. Balise and Hyundai are well-aware of the mechanical failure/defective engineering issues but claim ignorance. Other manufacturer's at least admit there are problems putting high horse-power engines in tiny 4-cylinder cars. Read other reviews- the good ones are for routine maintenance or for when nothing goes wrong. The real test is when there's a problem, will they stand behind their products and warranties? They did not for us, despite the purchase of 2 cars in 1 year and consistent servicing of 3 cars all at Balise dealerships. Here's their standard line, "sorry you're our of warranty." Well, they could have made a better judgement call here, and they know it. I hope the Balise brothers and family take pride in knowing they screwed a young man with the purchase of his first ever car. Shame on you! read more

24 hours waiting and they still don't replace the tires, is not even a fix !... just replace them

I only use Balise for service on my car. Every time I am there, whether it be routine maintenance or something unexpected, every step of service from calling to make an appointment to picking up my car is simple. I utilize their shuttle to get back and forth to work, and a few times they even waited for me! There was one time in particular that the person I checked in with called the shuttle driver (after I had already been picked up from work) to make sure that he had picked me up because I had called the shuttle driver directly rather than calling him back to schedule the pick up. He realized I hadn't picked up my car yet and he didn't want me to be have to wait around for a ride. Every person I have met goes above and beyond and I am very appreciative! I never feel like I'm being pressured into doing something to my car that isn't necessary (I've been to places that have given me a list of things that "must" be done to my car asap and I'm not sure if the service even happened after paying for it!) I trust the service advisors I've interacted with and know they have the customers best interest in mind. I had an issue that was covered by a warranty and was brought to my attention by Nick, the service advisor, without me even asking (I knew there was a warranty but didn't think I qualified for it). The dealership itself is so clean and modern. I appreciate the waiting area (especially the free coffee!) 5 stars all the way! I will not take my car anywhere else! read more

We were looking for a used SUV to replace our 13 yr old van. I was going to be shopping in our neighborhood, Easthampton, but my sister had just purchased a new Hyundai from Jay at Balise and raved about him. She gave him a call, told him what we were looking for. I called and told him we would be coming down to look. It was his night off but he came in anyway (!) and spent 2 hours with my son, another sister of mine and myself while we test drove and debated EVERYRHING about several cars. We ended up loving the one he thought would be best. He was right, it is just right for our family and needs. I brought my husband down the next night and closed the deal. I have always looked at purchasing a vehicle as a part of life we must all endure! I didn't mind this one at all and actually if it wasn't for Jay, I wouldn't have even looked at the Toyota Venza that we ended up buying. He listened to us and what we were looking for and found it! I have never had such a bad experience with a company before. Firstly, the service consultant I was working with seemed to know little about car repair so I was frequently told incorrect information about what was wrong with my car, what parts were needed, and how long it would be in the shop. Secondly, I was told different stories by employees that made me feel that this dealership was dishonest (different price estimates, different responses to if it was covered by the warranty, told they didn't have loaner cars ever than told they do have them and one available now). Thirdly, getting a call back or quick service is not an option. I had my car in the shop for a day short of 6 weeks which they as well as other dealers said was a 2 week repair (repairing a head gasket; part wasn't available anywhere closer than Texas and then found out Texas was wrong and didn't have them available so they had to build the part, then the part arrived broken). I only received a phone call back about 5 times over the 6 weeks of calls and had to wait an hour one day in the shop for business. Fourthly, they state they will do things and don't. I had a bike in my car when it broke down that needed to be taken to business near by. They have a shuttle driver available on weekdays so this is something they openly offered to do, but this did not happen until the last day in the shop despite multiple requests to do so (I missed a charity race because I didn't have the bike done). I was also told they would reimburse a little over a week of the rental car (despite me having to pay for a whole extra month than estimated). They said they would do it right when I picked the car up. I wasn't reimbursed for about 3 weeks and after multiple calls with hyundai customer service that took hours on the phone to do. They tried to tell me that it was done and hyundai made me feel like I was lying about the money until they called enterprise and discovered the truth. Lastly, they did take the time to clean the outside of the car before I picked it up but they left trash inside and there were several scratches in an area of the passenger door that wasn't there before. Overall, bad experience. Poor customer service with overworked, disorganized staff. Upside was that they didn't give me too much hassle about the repair being under my warranty and they cleaned the outside of the car nicely. read more

We bought a vehicle from Balise Hyundai and I have no complaints about the sales team. We got a good deal on a car we love. However, their service department needs some serious training in customer service. The first time we brought the vehicle in to have a key reprogrammed, we had an 8:00 am appointment. I left the vehicle with them all day. At 4:30pm I was told that the job was more complicated than they thought and that they would need the vehicle another day. They also said they would need to bill us for additional labor hours at 105.00 per hour. Little did they know, my boyfriend was working construction on their new building and watched our car sit outside all day. They never even moved it. When confronted about this, they admitted that they had not had time to get to it and had it done by the end of that business day. We also refused to pay the additional charge and they agreed that they would take care of the cost. Yesterday we brought our vehicle in for an oil change and for them to take pictures of our wheels for our wheel warrantee (apparently, they have to take pictures and send them in to insurance before they can actually fix them). We had an appointment to drop the car off at 7:30 am. Around 10:00 am they called to say that they probably need to keep the vehicle overnight. They couldn't explain why it would take more than one business day to perform and oil change and take a picture. We will not be using Balise Hyundai for service anymore. When they actually do the work they are supposed to, there are no problems. The problem is that they wont get to that service in the time you are promised and will lie about it to you. I even checked to see if they were maybe just really busy yesterday, but on their website they had over 10 open appointments. I cant understand why they can never get the job done in time and they only lie when I ask for explainations. If you are looking to buy a car, the sales department is good. However, I would NEVER recommend anyone bring their vehicle there for service. read more

Great with sales, but horrible service. Their service is not only much too long, but they have lied about services rendered. My brakes 'were checked', and when my husband looked, they need to be replaced ASAP. Then I was told that the service technicians had all been replaced. Most recently I was told an inspection would be completed by phone and email, but when my car was there, they said it was not 'convenient' for them to use manpower in order to keep their word/agreement. read more

I came in to Balise with my son to let him experience his first "big purchase" as a young adult. I went in there with my guard up as I know the tactics that are used to make money in car sales. We were greeted at the door within a few seconds and you could feel the energy change with the loud music (Louder than your typical car dealership) and the laughter coming from the different cubicles. Which was odd. People aren't supposed to be laughing when they are parting with hard earned money. We ended up working with the General Manager Brian H. and a salesman named Chris. Chris was a pleasure to work with as his unorthodox goofy sales approach made you feel comfortable. We said we were just starting our search but ended up driving away that day. I love Balise Service! My car broke down on the highway while I was en route to a wedding, and I was towed to Balise, which is not my home dealer. Balise took care of me right away and did everything in their power to get me to the wedding on time. They had to keep the car overnight, but set me up with a good deal at Enterprise down the street, and even drove me over there to pick up the car. They called me to give me status on the repair and even asked if I made it to the wedding (which I did)! They called me again the next morning to check-in (and asked how the wedding was), and I picked up my car the next morning. I was even able to drop my Enterprise rental car at Balise, and they took care of everything for me. I cannot speak highly enough about Phil and the team at Balise Service. I am so appreciative of the excellent service they gave me - both in fixing my car and treating me well. read more

I brought my car in for a service issue on 10/8/15, this was my first time visiting Balise and my first impression was extremely positive, the staff was friendly and greeted me immediately. I explained the issue and they said they would contact me with their findings. I received a call a couple hours later that they don't have an answer yet and but just wanted to touch base with me which I thought was nice. The next call a couple hours later he indicated that the problem was something linked to a factory recall and they we fixing it. He also said he did an inspection of the car and they found that I had a nail in my tire that was absolutely un-patchable (stated numerous times) despite it not being low on air prior to me bringing it in, I thought that was odd but said I would have it looked at, but the service representative insisted that it was unsafe to drive on and didn't feel comfortable releasing the car without a new tire. We then went back and forth on pricing on a new tire and I agreed to have it changed, I asked him to leave the tire with the nail in it in the trunk. Yesterday I brought the tire with the nail in it to City Tire in West Springfield, they stated the tire was absolutely patchable and it now patched and safe to use which I have in writing from management. I am beyond disappointed and appalled that your service department took advantage of a young female selling product that was unnecessary in the first place, your dealership backed the dishonest stereotype that keeps customers from servicing their cars in fear they will mysteriously find an issue just to make money. I sent my complaint and have yet to be contacted. read more
