I called a few other local independent shops that quoted $550, a bit more reasonable. Then I decided to try instant car fix and was a little skeptical about the quality. I tried calling and messaging but they were unresponsive. I booked online but had questions about OEM-equivalent pads and rotors but no one answered their messaging system. The price was much more manageable and cost around $350. The mechanic came out same-day and was very nice. Did all the work right in our driveway, showed us pictures and the old items to show that I truly did need the work done. He showed me the parts he was putting in which were of high quality. Car passed the re-inspection at the original shop and said the repair was done well. It was nice being in my own home while the work was done instead of being in the shop waiting room or coordinating a pickup and dropoff. The mechanic was quick and efficient. And best of all, it was much cheaper than going to a shop. Only complaint is the poor communication beforehand and the long time window to wait. Although, the mechanic messaged me about 40 minutes before he came out. Despite these minor issues, I'll be using them again and would recommend you give them a try.

In this age of more reliable cars, it is not often that we hear someone say that they "have a…read moremechanic". But, even newer cars need maintenance and have the occasional out-of-warranty problems. And with the high cost of going to the dealership, it is hard to find a trustworthy alternative. Over the past few years, we have been using Darnestown Shell for our oil changes and safety inspections. We usually drop the car off the night before and can pick it up by noon the following day. This in itself it nothing out of the ordinary. But, on a couple occasions, we have had other issues with our cars where the helpful staff have gone above and beyond. In one instance where a tire kept losing pressure, they removed the tire, found the leak, and informed us that the leak was in the sidewall making the repair of the tire impossible. They did not charge us for anything. And more recently, our other car's brakes were making noise. The staff at Darnestown Shell put the car on the lift and inspected the breaks. When they found nothing wrong, they charged nothing. Any more, it is hard to get something for nothing. And while they may not have made any money from these two service calls, they have won our loyalty and we will continue to patronize Darnestown Shell

They diagnosed a brake issue as well as a small leak from the transmission pan and some other recommendations of wiper blades, headlight housing replacement, and license plate bulb. I took care of the wiper blades, headlight housings and license plate bulb myself, and they replaced the front brake calipers and teansmission pan gasket as well as the transmission solenoid pack they said was faulty. When we received the vehicle and went on our trip it immediately had issues shifting correctly on the highway and consequently had to drive under 50 mph for the duration of the trip. We returned to the shop after our trip and they clain they replaced the transmission solenoid pack again and now it won't shift properly at 30 mph. Do yourself a favor and find another repair facility.

He took it for a test drive with me and explained everything on what it was doing and what it could be. He looked at it and found out I needed a starter and carburetor cleaned and some other things had to be done he was very thorough on what it was and what had to be done. There was some things that had to be fixed but I didn't have the time, I had to get on the road back to Pittsburgh PA. But I am thankful he got me back on the road where I can handle the hills better and make it back. If I had more time I would have let him complete everything. He is a very good mechanic. They told me to call back on the 21st which I did and they didn't have record of it. They told me to tow it on the 25th which I scheduled and when I called to confirm, they told me they didn't have any room for the car and go somewhere else. I tried to explain that they now caused me a problem because I had to move the car due to my lease being up. They said it was my car and my problem. I got a little upset and they hung up on me. I called back and they were impertinent. There wasn't any concern at all about the problem they caused me. Tried to talk me out of repairing the car. What? Mercedes last a very, very long time. Anyway, I wouldn't trust anything they say at this point. I never leave reviews like this. NEVER. But don't depend upon anything they say.
