Her exceptional service and professionalism stood out, making me feel valued as a customer. She's also amazing at keeping the area under control, creating a safer and more welcoming environment despite the challenges of the neighborhood. Honestly, I don't even like going to that part of town--it's not the safest--but I braved it because she made it worthwhile. Unfortunately, my last visit this morning left me deeply disappointed. I had an encounter with another employee, a Hispanic female, who verbally assaulted me and made me feel completely disrespected. She threatened violence (but said she wasn't able to because she was on the clock). This did not stop her from yelling threats from behind the counter within earshot of about 7 people in line. It's heartbreaking that one person's behavior has pushed me to stop coming here because I can no longer support a place that allows such treatment of customers. I'll miss the black girl that "married" me and my boyfriend (was so cute). If the Hispanic girl no longer works there, I will continue to patronize the business but until then I'll make sure everyone I know stands with me in not spending money at this place and goes to ON THE RUN at Anaheim and Alamitos instead.

The device wouldn't turn on at all, even when connected to a charger. I returned to the store almost immediately with the packaging expecting a simple replacement, but the owner was extremely rude, dismissive, and unhelpful. Instead of resolving the issue, he tried to shift blame and gaslight the situation, even though the device clearly never worked. Any reputable shop knows that sometimes products arrive defective, and replacing it for a customer who just purchased it is basic customer service. Even just the right thing to do as a human being. Instead, I was refused help and the guy wouldn't even provide his name when asked. Such a disappointing experience. I paid for a product that never worked and was treated poorly when I tried to resolve it and there never was a solution. I'd never come back or spend my money here again.

I was threatened with a beating at this store by a man behind the counter because I asked for cigarettes at the price that was advertised on the shelf. I was forced to leave the store under imminent threat by a twenty-something Asian man in a medium-blue polo shirt who snarled, "I'm gonna fuck you up." He had to be restrained from following me as I left the store. I a disabled retiree, age 61, and had shopped for value-priced Pall Malls several times at this store. I attempted to buy some more just before 4:30 pm on Monday, August 26th, 2013. There was a prominent plastic sign on the cigarette shelf behind the counter advertising this brand for $3.21 each, plus tax. When the clerk scanned three packs of Pall Mall Menthol Blacks that I asked for and placed them on the counter, the cash register indicated the price was $12. When I questioned why the price was so high he said, "There's tax." When I reminded him that the sales tax in Long Beach is 9% he turned his head toward the back of the store and called my wanna-be assailant to the cash register. The clerk then said that the $3.21 price only applies to specially-marked packs. I asked why his sign didn't say that. He responded that it only applies to packs wrapped in a cellophane stating 50-cents off. I then brought up the fact that the law requires the shelf price to equal the scanned price. At this point, the Asian man became highly agitated. "What do you know about the law?" he snarled at me! I turned to the clerk in shock. The clerk informed me that the cigarette company insists that they not tamper with their signage lest they cancel the store's contract and not deliver cigarettes anymore. At this point the Asian walked to the end of the counter to approach me on the sales floor and threatened, "I'm gonna fuck you up!" The clerk walked up behind him and grabbed his arm to restrain him while at the same time telling me that I would have to leave. As I walked across the parking lot toward the sidewalk on Long Beach Boulevard, I looked back. Walking about 20 feet behind me was the Asian bully, fists clenched and fire in his eyes as though he was ready to assault me as promised, walking behind me. Fortunately, the clerk ran out of the store and, once again, grabbed him and brought him back inside the door. Though the people who run this store disbelieve it, there actually is a California law that requires stores to charge no more for an item than the price stated on the shelf tag. Otherwise, shoppers would be deceived and overcharged on a routine basis. In this case, just because a tobacco company insists they have the right to screw people by prominently posting a price that they do not intend to honor does not make the store exempt from the law. And obviously, they have no right to threaten battery on the customers who inform them otherwise. read more

I went to this shop a few times expecting the service to get better but it DIDNT. The young gentleman who assisted me in viewing their glass was highly unprofessional and clueless with the products, which were extremely over priced compared to their wholesale value. I know this because i am in the wholesale business. He also left me in the middle of a conversation to "flirt" with a young girl who had just entered the building while I was inquiring about a water pipe i was about to purchase. This frustrated me to the point of not purchasing anything. Also while i was waiting another customer arrived and asked to see the gentleman that was helping me and lead me to see illegal "spice" distribution, which i know is none of my business, but made me feel extremely uncomfortable and weary about the shop i was in. The only reason i came back from the first time was because of a young blonde who intervened and actually explained the products and uses to me. Customer service needs to be improved and perhaps some product knowledge wouldnt hurt. read more

No words can describe the experience of visiting Tobacco Express. It almost seems surreal, as the distinguished and upper echelon (and are actually royal) family who own and operate the establishment treat all comers as one of their own, with the utmost respect, courtesy, and most sincere cordiality one could possibly imagine. The reason why this is surreal is because they also have the lowest prices, best hours, and a wonderful selection- not to mention they always go the extra mile to make sure not only do the customers walk away satisfied, but also at the best price. The radiant allure of the staff may seem intimidating, but actually the place feels like home away from home. I wouldn't shop anywhere else. Five stars. read more
