Wow what a wonderful place to grab a bite to eat. We really enjoyed this place. The restaurant is really charming. They have several tables inside and outdoors. This Argentinian restaurant makes really well when talking about flavors. We started off with a chorizo engalanada. It was so good. They have various types. Next we went with the Parrillada which had various grilled meats. Among them was steak, chicken, short rib and chorizo. The grilled meats were excellent. Perfectly cooked and packed with so much flavor. My personal favorites were the short rib and chorizo. Lastly we had a sweet potato tart which was so good. I am not a huge fan of sweet desserts so this one was very savory and rich. I loved it. read more

I tried Chimichurri at the beginning of July. I loved the welcoming vibes from the owner & staff. This is definitely a hidden gem, can't believe I worked in Milford, & never heard of it! So happy I was able to experience plenty of different items from their menu. They truly focused on the Argentinian flavors in their food, very authentic. I fell in love with the Buenos Aires sandwich, which is one of their popular items. They also sell MATE cups/accessories. MATE is a South American caffeine-rich infused herbal drink. You slowly pour hot water into herbs & drink from what is called a "Bombilla" (metal straw) for those who didn't know. I have family members that use these items, they're traditional, & good to know about. There's plenty of parking across the street, signs should be up still. Yummy! I've been dying to try this spot since they opened and it didn't disappoint! The empanadas I have heard others rave about were delicious! I tried the spinach, the chorizo and the chicken and surprisingly my favorite was the spinach! I was sad to hear they were out of some, including the corn, but that's just a motivation to come back! It was a really casual place - you get your drinks from a fridge and they have a little market for local businesses and Argentinian foods which adds to the ambiance. Our waiter (who I think is the owner?) was super knowledgeable and explained each of the desserts to us and why they were special. We tried the Ricotta cake (stellar!) and the Alfajor de Malcena (also delicious). The only bummer was the Spinach and Cheese Bunellos which were good, but a little over fried. Right across the public parking lot in Milford, my friend and I saw this cute Argentinian restaurant called, Chimichurri. We weren't starving, but we could use a small snack. This place had light snacks and full meals. I don't know that I've been to an Argentinian restaurant previously. The inside is adorably decorated in Argentinian flare, the waitress wore their soccer jersey. We got three empanadas to share, the ground beef, mushroom, and spinach with cheese. These are small but filling. I only had the mushroom, and it was delicious! It was crunchy and flaky on the outside, but mushroomy and cheesey on the inside. Yum! My friend had the other two, and said she couldn't pick a favorite. We also got their traditional Chimichurri sauce for dipping. We also got their pinwheel, which I didn't realize till later was intended for kids. The pinwheel is a grilled wrap with mayo, cheese and ham. Then cut into little circles. This came with cucumbers and hummus. This was basic, but light and good. We also got cappuccino and jasmine tea. These came beautifully presented in ceramic mugs. They were delicious! We had a wonderful time at Chimichurri in Milford. I plan to return here when I'm in Milford more frequently for their beaches. read more

I've been coming here consistently since they've open for the past 2 years. Primarily for breakfast, though I've come once or twice for lunch and plan to get the Chori Pan at some point. The food is great. Consistent and healthy. I often come with my kids and get them one of their baked goods and/or French Toast. For myself I'm often getting their Bacon Egg and Cheese on a Ciabatta. You can tell this isn't just your greesy deli BEC, but a well executed breakfast sandwich that works for a hangover or just a dad who needs to get out of the house with the kids in the morning. On that note, this place is great for kids. There's a little corner of the cafe with toys and play kitchen for young kids. Some places it's clear, they're not thrilled you're bringing your kids with you, but this place is quite the opposite. The owner's are parents themselves and it's clear they've embraced the family aspect of their cafe. Bonus points for having a front porch to enjoy your coffee. read more

I'm very excited that there is finally an Argentinian restaurant in Connecticut that is close to home. Since I moved here, I've heard about places in the Hartford area but it was far for me and they closed before I was able to go try them. Usually, if we want to have Argentinian food, we have to go to restaurants in New York, but we don't do that very often. One of my friends told me last Friday that he saw that there was an Argentinian restaurant in the area and I thought he had to be mistaken, if there was an Argentinian restaurant in the area, I would've known (yes, I Google 'Argentinian restaurant' regularly). Well, after doing some online search I found out that they were opening that same weekend! I couldn't go to the inauguration, but we were there the following day. We entered Chimichurri, and it was like transporting us back to Argentina: the decoration, mates, yerba, Argentinian music sounding in the background, and people speaking Argentine Spanish! We ordered 2 milanesas napolitanas (beef cutlets topped with tomato sauce, ham and cheese), one with home fries and the other one with salad. We also ordered empanadas to go: beef, ham & cheese and spinach. Everything was amazing and super fresh and authentic. I will definitely go back to try the whole menu! Next time I'm ordering the parrillada because I saw it in other tables and it looked amazing! If you are Argentinian, you have to go check it out. I don't know how I never ordered from here before. My fiancée and I are still obsessed with what we ordered, he got the roast beef sandwich which he is still raving about. As for me, I had been searching for somewhere that does curry chicken salad. It's hard to find. They had it here! It was so good and had loads of flavor. The bread on our sandwiches were tasty and fresh. Your going to pay a little more for quality ingredients but it's worth it! Our sandwiches came with a little side of pasta salad. My portion was so big I had leftovers. We can't wait to try more on their menu, especially breakfast. Right across the street from a VFW and the marina parking. Nate's Plates is a cool spot within spitting distance from all the other restaurants and shops in downtown. I went there on a Friday afternoon and the place was empty. I ordered 3 sandwiches for my crew at home. I decided to get the Apple Tuna Sandwich and it was really good! I got it on a ciabatta bread. The bread was good but not earth shattering but still was a good vessel for the ingredients on the sandwich. The tuna salad was made perfectly! Great Mayo to Tuna ratio. My wife ordered the Pablo Pesto Chicken sandwich and I had half of hers and I thought it was pretty darn good too. Nothing out of this world but really a solid sammy. I'd be a little worried to come here during a lunch rush as I was only one ordering and it took some time. I guess you don't rush quality? Fabulous! A totally authentic Mom & Pop small family Argentinian eatery. Lots of beefy options (steaks, ribs, sandwiches) but there's also a lot of sausage, chicken, pork, and veggie dishes. A fantastic family friendly coffee and tea shop. Loved the decorations by local artists, the kids play area, and the service. When I came in the door, the owner greeted me and asked me what I wanted. He recommended a dish that wasn't on the menu yet, which was delicious. He knew other guests by name and served everyone as if they were family in his home. you can absolutely skip this place and won't miss anything. ordered several items as this place has such good reviews. got the asada streak, Cuban sandwich, crepes, milanesitas, Alfajor cookies. the steak was salty, dry and DID NOT COME WITH CHIMICURRI SAUCE. when I called to ask for the sauce, they said they wouldn't send someone out to deliver it to me (it was a delivery order) and I should just add a note on my next order to remind them to include it....this is literally the name of the restaurant and they were not apologetic nor cared. Cuban sandwiches had too much mustard (not stone ground per description) also bread was hard, ham is just basic deli ham you'd get from stop and shop. Milanesitas: basic meat with Italian breading fried. crepes are just a crepe with Dulce de leche, nothing special Alfa nor did not come as described, I got disgusting stale chocolate chip cookies with Dulce de leche smeared on it. They are supposed to be a corn cookie and have coconut So that was great. Overall this place is a huge disappointment and waste of money. Staff is rude. would advise anyone to not make the same mistake. I honestly have no clue how this place has any good reviews unless they're all fake. ETA: that even the garbage pandas who went through my trash found the food inedible. I have also realized many reviews are for Nate's Plates, not chimmichuri. Not quite sure how they were able to add them under their restaurant. It is why a new establishment has such stellar reviews dating back years. I highly recommend Nates Plates if you are looking for a great spot for breakfast or lunch. Diego and his wife were very accommodating with a family gathering of 17 people including 5 young kids. The sandwiches and soup were great. My favorite was the Cubano. This is a family-owned business with Nate and his wife who are SO NICE!! They have section that can be set aside for a large party of 15-20 people. They also had a kids area with lots of games, small tables and chairs and a blackboard.
